  1. Thought it might be nice to have a quick break from draft talk. The run ‘n shoot offense was groundbreaking in its late 80’s early 90’s heyday. Four wides, no TE, QB under center with one RB. Houston Oilers were primary users. Went away when D’s decided best way to attack it was make sure QB was hit every time he attempted a pass. Of course, four wides are still in use as occasional formation. What’s interesting is that with one significant addition, Bills would be in a unique position to run a ton of run ‘n shoot. Would that happen? Of course not. I think McDermott and Brady would put four TE’s out there if they had the opportunity. But look at our personnel on offense and what makes a run ‘n shoot click. Great offensive line? Check. RB who can cause havoc running against 6 DB’s? Check. Mobile QB with great arm who can also do major damage running the ball against 6 DB’s? Check and check. Two dangerous slot receivers? Shakir yes but also Coleman. A lot of chatter last year about how Coleman could be a real weapon as a big slot. Samuel #3. Two outside wides? Well, no. But imagine if we had acquired DK Metcalf with Palmer on the other side. Of course, you don’t want Josh running as much as he did in the past so the time has already past when this would be a go to option. Neverless, I’d like to see a healthy dose of four wides this year, especially if we add Moore or someone similar. I’d like to see Coleman flourish as a big slot.
  2. Really wanted Reggie Corner to make it, even more than Ed Wang.
  3. Paul Seymour’s brother, Jim Seymour, was one of the most famous college athletes of the mid-60’s. He was a WR on great Norte Dame teams of that era. Paul’s NFL career was truly unique. College All-American OL to pro TE but essentially another tackle on one of the great OL’s of all time (Dave Foley, Reggie McKenzie, Jarvis/Montler, Joe D, Donnie Green and Seymour).
  4. Problem for the Browns, even with 2 top 10 picks in 2026, unless one is #1st overall, they’re not getting Arch Manning.
  5. So when did elite DE’s start to look like safeties (Carter, Chase Young, Parsons)?
  6. Not true. He had great game in season opener. The hilarious thing was that he was injured during the game and didn’t finish it. Harbinger of the things to come!!
  7. This is totally 20/20 hindsight but Kincaid could have been a useful chip to obtain BTJ before last year’s draft. Would our 2024 #1, Kincaid and a 2025 #3 been enough to move up to grab him? It would have solved a couple of problems. Knox, Morris, Davidson still a healthy TE room and with Thomas a stud boundary WR.
  8. That was an insane WR draft the year Moulds came out. Probably the best of all time - Keyshawn Johnson, Terry Glenn, Marvin Harrison, Moulds, Owens. I'm sure I'm missing a couple. Talent wise, I think Moulds was as good as any of them. He would be a perfect fit for the 2025 Bills.
  9. I'm surprised we're spending a dime on the OL. Other than QB and maybe RB and TE, it's as solid as it gets.
  10. Not sure what Beane is up to in FA. That’s based on the assumption that the strength of the upcoming draft is DE and DT. I get the Palmer signing. We needed a boundary WR and Palmer is an intriguing option (great analytics vs. meh production). I like the Forest signing. Again, intriguing prospect. Bosa, iI understand in the context of risk - reward. What I’m surprised at is three relatively big money signings along the DL. I’m surprised we didn’t target a CB in FA and rely on the draft to bolster the DL.
  11. I think Shavers and Hardy have legit shots at making final roster. Assuming no additional FA signings, WR might be Shakir, Coleman, Palmer, Samuel, Shavers and a mid-round speedster draft pick. Hardy backing up Johnson in the nickel.
  12. I don’t particularly follow the Chargers so this is more of a layman’s perspective but if Palmer is so good, why did Herbert spend the season throwing the ball to McConkey to the exclusion of the rest of the receivers on the team? Why are Palmer’s stats so meh?
  13. I like the fact that KC has six games against Herbert, Nix and Smith (and Harbaugh, Peyton and Carroll). Smith isn’t that great but a helluva lot better than what they had.
  14. At this point, it had to be a Chief initiation ritual, right? Who are the Bills 5? Miller is one. Was Azaria arrested? I don’t recall that.
  15. Jesus. This is absurd. One first down and you’re in FG position, especially now the best kickers make 60 yarders like extra points. Do away with kickoffs altogether and start on the 20. Onside “kicks” put it at the 40 with 4th and either 15, 17 or 20.
  16. Don’t tell me that they are going to cut Martin & Lewis? Hey, pretty lady!
  17. The general consensus before the draft is that the Bills wouldn’t be one player or a handful of plays away from a Super Bowl because of the loss of Diggs, Davis, Morse, White, Poyer and Hyde. I think a lot of folks are forgetting that fact. Maybe that was Beane’s thinking in accumulating some extra picks instead of going all in and overpaying for a blue chip WR.
  18. Sorry, no. Great player in his time but that time is gone. The ex I’d take back? Risto. Veteran RHD with a physical presence and a mean streak.
  19. So Matt Miller of ESPN says that 31 of his top 100 prospects for upcoming draft are defensive lineman. Have no idea whether he’s correct or wildly mistaken. Assuming the Bills’ brain trust agrees, shouldn’t that dictate how the Bills approach not only the draft but free agency as well? We are close to set on offense. So little in the way of needs. If we trade Knox or Kincaid, we’re still pretty much set at TE. If we can’t sign Ty Johnson, we draft a RB in the 4th or 5th round. Only real difficult question is if we don’t sign Cooper and/or Hollins. At that point we should dip into FA for a vet boundary WR (Hollywood Brown?). Add a speedster in the mid-rounds. Assuming we can’t pull off a mega-trade for Garrett or Crosby, we should target a top end CB (DJ Reed?) in FA and use our #1 and 2 #2’s on D-line. Add mid round safety and call it a day.
  20. I’ve been saying, with 20/20 hindsight, we should have moved up to grab BTJ before JAX picked him. Then I went back and looked at first round selections. Go ahead and tell me who would dealt with us. Rams? They picked Verse. Eagles? They picked Mitchell. Steelers? Maybe. Looking at it again, we probably would have had to offer a significant overpay (#1 plus 2025 #1?) to move up enough to grab him.
  21. Great news. No reason to even waste a late round draft pick on OL. We are good to go!
  22. Given limited amount to spend on FA, I’d rank position of need as DE, CB, DT, WR and S. Move Taron to FS (because we’re going to a base 4 - 3!). Add Bishop, Rapp and a mid round draft choice and we are good to go.
  23. My God, I’m on this forum too much. This is sarcasm, right?
  24. You really want to know what has cost us MULTIPLE Super Bowls? The 2019 draft. Instead of Oliver, pick Wilkins, Simmons or Lawrence and we have a game wrecker in the middle of the D Line. Instead of Cody Ford, pick AJ Brown or Metcalf and we have quality boundary WR. (As an added bonus, maybe next year we don’t trade for Diggs, we pick Jefferson or Higgins.). Of course, it’s all 20/20 hindsight but if it had turned out this way, tell me we wouldn’t have a championship or two.
  25. Isn’t Rousseau better against the run? To me, he’s a perfect complementary DE with a high level pass rusher on the other side. On the other hand, $25 million? Not going there.
