  1. I agree. I have been saying this a while, I do not think Beane intends on making 10 selections in the draft. This is a rich draft from bottom half of the first through the 3rd. I fully expect him to use some of that draft capital to maneuver around the first 3 rounds for players he covets. I very much think a trade down is quite possible, and still think Washington is most likely. And in that case with at least 11 picks in hand (possibly 12), I think its very likely we trade up at some point over the first 3 rounds for a guy they covet...and I think they could trade up twice too if they complete a trade down from #9. So I expect Beane to be very busy and active though this whole draft
  2. Yeah, the kid handled the situation perfectly. Ignored it and stayed quiet to avoid it being a distraction and then let his play on the field answer instead. Again ignored it over rest of season to avoid distractions. Now with season behind him and having needed the season so strong, he had some fun with it and made a fans day with a playful jab back at Ramsey. Literally couldn't have handled it better IMO. This kid gets it.
  3. I voted Ravens, but its honestly close. Ravens will need their D to be strong again to keep games close because Lamar isnt going to put a ton of points up IMO unless he really takes a step forward as a passer. Broncos have to deal with both Chargers and Chiefs in their own division, but should field a better offense between the two with those RB's, Sanders and the young WR's, and Flacco as a veteran pocket QB. For now, I give the nod to Ravens just because they have an easier path to more wins, but I have a feeling these two teams will both be between 7 and 9 wins this year, so should be close.
  4. There are some factors about how we opened week 1 that people either forget or dont realize though. The plan going into the 3rd preseason game was for Allen to start week 1 and they have said this directly. After the first team struggled badly in that game, they decided they wanted to work with Allen a little more before starting. Again, they have publicly said all this too, not opinion. NP definitely outplayed AJ, although AJ had more respect around the league and trade value. They were not going to carry 3 QB's and unbelievably the Raiders were still willing to give the Bills a 5th round pick for AJ after being outplayed over the preseason, so of course they took it. Neither NP or AJ were the future, Allen was, so to get a pick for one was a no brainer. Once they moved AJ they had to focus all their time on both Allen and NP to get them ready to play. Bringing in a 3rd QB who needs reps and time with the coaches to learn the system takes time away from both young QB's. QB is the most difficult position of any team sport in the world to learn and play well. And when you have 2 young QB's they need as much of the time with the coaches as possible. So was not a surprise to me they didn't immediately bring in another vet right before the season started and waited until they were a little more into the season before making that decision. So for me, I think people way over exaggerate the situation at the start of the season. I mean why anyone cares about it is a bit puzzling to me, especially since they did bring in a mentor a handful of weeks later.
  5. Hahahaha Allen signed a photograph from the Jags game for a fan and wrote this on the pic!!! I love this kid! Now cue all the Debbie downers who will whine about this lol
  6. Beane has been here one draft. He has one tendency. That is BPA on his board. That is how he will draft.
  7. Thats almost my exact mock right now (albeit trade down with Was). First 3 picks are the same and would expect a RB picked at 74 or in the 4th. Carolina has a number of needs, including WR with funchess likely leaving. So not sure they are going to want to give up that 2nd rounder to get to #9 given there are going to be some good picks likely on the board for them still at 16. Also, doubt we need to include one of our 4ths either for this swap. I really wouldn’t want to send our 4th back in this deal and value wise we don’t need to.
  8. While AAF is better than I expected, I would remind everyone the level of competition is lower and not to get ahead of ourselves here on a couple guys having a good start to the season. Most these guys had shots, even multiple shots, in the NFL and couldn’t stick. That being said, I’m sure there will be a number of guys who get camp invites out of this. I think this league has a real shot to stick and will be a great place to try and earn NFL opportunities moving forward.
  9. I think we could pursue some of the following guys in FA along the OL: Donovan Smith, Trent Brown, Mitch Morse, Rodger Saffold, Matt Paradis, Daryl Williams. We already signed Long, who I think could compete to start, but also could be a good depth player. He was much better in Washington surrounded by more talent. Last year with the Jets, he had an injury on his snapping hand which greatly impacted his performance. But right now, I do think he could have a bounce back year now that hes healthy and if we have some better players around him than Jets had. But if can also sign someone like Morse/Paradis to start at C so Long can backup C and maybe even start at G, then it could be a very good signing for us. Then go add one of those tackles and we will have the makings of a much better line already. Be great if they also found a way to add Saffold too. That being said, I have no issues taking an OL in the draft either and think Bills may be eyeing someone like Risner who also seems to want to come to Buffalo. I do however think OL will be one area Beane is most active in with FA so he can get some veteran help to try and immediately stabilize the line for Josh.
  10. Jason Reid literally wrote the best summary I’ve seen, thanks for sharing and totally agree with you
  11. Well considering our FO has repeatedly said he’s part of their plans, I have no reason to doubt at this point he won’t be. So until I hear something different from Beane/McD, I’m moving forward assuming he will be part of the team until at least camp and they can start deeer evaluating how he is playing with the new OL additions. I do expect them to draft a RB in like 3rd or 4th round though, maybe someone explosive like Love or Henderson that can be a Kamara or Cohen type player.
  12. All good, and your opinion is not without merit. Just think is unfair to hang certain things on him that are not being hung on other players.
  13. Thats not a fair thing to pin on him. He was employed still with 49ers at that point and thought he had more value and didn’t know that once he was no longer with 49ers he wouldn’t get another job. I love how any other player declining pay cuts is normal biz, but Kap doing it way back then makes him a monster.
  14. Beane has not been here whole time McD has though. Remember he joined Bills after Free Agency and draft were complete. He then said it would take him 2 years to clean up the cap when hired, he did after his first offseason as Bills GM. Yes the dead cap space was a choice, but it was absolutely necessary and correct choice to clear the cap for future seasons beginning with this one. There is really is nothing that can be criticized about the dead cap space in 2018 when it absolutely worked. He also had a great first draft too. And I definitely disagree with your conservative comments about McD, it just isn’t true IMO. When Allen was first starting and then when NP and DA filled in, the passing game was weak and he had to try and lean on the run game. But everything he did from the time Allen got back to the end of the season was far from conservative. We constantly were pushing the ball down field, going for 4th down conversions, trying to score at end of halves where most coaches take a knee, being aggressive as much as he can with the personnel we have. To classify him as conservative just because parts of the year the personnel wasn’t capable of being aggressive is an inaccurate conclusion in my book. To be aggressive and take risks, you need players who can execute. And it wasn’t until Allen came back looking like a different player that we were able to really start opening it up more. He does need to improve on clock management and time out management, but that’s to be expected with a first time head coach. So while I agree it’s an area he needs to grow in, I am also not that worried about it as I feel confident he will as he’s a smart coach.
  15. Kudos to seeing the premature reactions and taking in the body of work they put in. There are some that still say we drafted the wrong Josh even now, or that Beane sucks at this or that because of what we had to field this year, and even people still hating on McD despite looking at how much he accomplished in 2 years versus what he had to work with. For me, Beane has proven he knows what he is doing. He fixed the cap a year faster than he said, built a solid foundation with the D and young key players like Allen and Edmunds leading both sides of the ball, and managed to get us a ton of cap room and 10 picks this offseason. McD has also coached his *** off his first 2 years. No coach or GM is going to make decisions that we all agree with 100% of the time or that are always right. Its the body of work, and McD seems to be a bright young coach in the NFL right now that players love. In my honest opinion, 2 years from now I really believe that McD and Beane will both be seen as two of the best in the NFL at what they do. And they both may reach that status next year if they get the right pieces in to make a deep playoff run next season. Lots to be excited about.
  16. Yup, you are correct. Good post, and totally agree.
  17. I don't know that the NFL "caved" though. They don't have a track record of caving. They pursued their golden boy Brady to the bitter end until they won, even with defeat along the way, they kept going to higher courts to keep fighting. They did the same thing with Zeke too. Even to the point where it started looking bad for them, they ultimately won in both cases and got the suspensions they wanted even though most of public opinion wasn't on the the NFLs side in either case. So, "caving" isn't part of Goodell's DNA. The NFL settled because they clearly were concerned about their ability to win and what would be exposed in the process. In Zeke and Brady, it was about them as players and punishment. In this case, the NFL was going to have emails, texts, etc all potentially exposed and involved in this case. And I am sure there are things they do NOT want out about inside the NFL. They are a very private entity, and there clearly has to be some kind of physical evidence that they were afraid of getting out for them to give this fight up and pay a large settlement. That being said, I really do not think other players are going to try and find ways to now go after the league. They have way more resources and determination to win than anyone. Settling here is a clear indicator there was enough evidence working against the NFL. And besides, most the time its not a case where the NFL is involved as a defendant, its usually about enforcing some sort of penalty, suspension, etc in a players violation of rules or misconduct. A guy like Ray Rice would have to have evidence that the teams jointly unified to keep him from having a job. But even then, I dont know he has a case, he violated rules. Kapernick did NOT do anything that his contract or the CBA prevented him from doing at the time he did it. Being held out of the league because of a difference of political opinion is different than someone getting denied because they were criminally arrested and charged with a crime.
  18. I really do think we are going to trade down with Washington (maybe another team, but I think Was) and grab an extra 2nd. And one of those first 3 picks in rounds 1 and 2 will be one of the Iowa TE's and could be Hockenson at #15. Irv is another guy I think on the radar too, but in the 2nd. So glad this Clay cut is official now. Its possible they could grab someone in FA, but I doubt thats all they do. There are not a lot of exciting options, but a few solid options. I doubt Cook leaves the Raiders, Gruden loves him. One guy I would really like to get though who is not officially available yet is Cameron Brate. They have a lot of needs there, and they already have Howard. He could be a candidate to be cut for cap savings, or obviously a potential trade target. Maybe send Bucs one of our extra day 3 picks for him. He's a pretty good player IMO, and better choice than any of the other TE's. I also wouldnt mind Jesse James or Harris from KC if its a FA signing. Ultimate preference though is one of the Iowa TE's in the first or 2nd round. Bye Clay.
  19. Rice won't have a case...he didnt get a job because his career was done. And no one was going to add a player who was on video knocking a woman out in an elevator that also couldn't help their team. So NFL didn't need to "collude" against him, his diminishing skills and atrocious tape was enough for teams just flat out not want to sign him on their own without having to band together.
  20. All good man, and not saying your opinion has no merit. However, that comes with the territory. Players with success have a lot of demand outside football, and thats part of their brand. He didnt do anything anyone else wasn't doing that had the same opportunity. He was a hot new player, a good looking guy with unique hair, and an exciting play style. So that created other opportunities for him, but that was always off season stuff. Not like he was missing practice over it or letting himself go physically during that time. The thing is, Kap spent a ton of time working with kids in his local community donating both a lot of money and his time. He was one of the most active players in this regard. Yet he gets this bad rep because some magazines wanted to put him on their cover because he was young, highly paid, unique, exciting, etc. But that was not a fair representation of who he is as a person. All kind of athletes have a ton of tattoos, so not sure where the tattoo comment comes in. Now he is still out there fighting for causes, charity, etc and giving lots of his money and time to them. But people still want to use magazine pictures o their opinion of him as a QB to now decide his character, yet he literally has never done a single thing to suggest a bad character. He has always been a pillar of his community and never been in any kind of trouble.
  21. You asked me if I knew anything about working out. I answered your question. However, I do greatly question your knowledge on PED's and working out if you think the only way to bulk up in 2 months is from PED's. Especially when you factor in the incredible and almost freakish physiques of some of these kids. Not to mention, he wasn't playing football due to the neck injury and spent bulk of his time working out. And even more so that you are basing all these claims of his PED use on a picture where he in angled and flexing out. But the funniest part to me is that he isn't even the biggest guy there in terms of build, just the tallest. But you are only calling him out for being on PED's. I am not saying its impossible he is on PED's, I am saying the you saying its impossible he is not on PED's is ridiculous. He very well could test positive, plenty of athletes have. But to just assume PED use over a photo that exaggerates his bulk is silly to me. Making your claims even more extreme is that he is about to go through an abundance of medical examinations soon too as he goes through the draft and teams evaluate his health. And once again, with Harry, yes he is mentioned as the top WR in the draft (BY SOME), but he is most often NOT mentioned as the best WR in the draft because its all opinion right now with not enough info to really rank the crowded WR group. So you just proclaiming because one site you read listed him as that does not make it true. Ive seen Harry listed as low as the 9th best WR in the draft...I dont agree with that ranking, but its out there. So like I said many times now, its fine if YOU THINK he is the best WR in the draft, but you need to understand that is NOT the consensus because there are at least 7 WRs who have the potential to be the first WR taken and the combine will greatly impact teams boards on how they rank them. And for the record, I love Harry as a prospect right now, but I need to how he runs at the combine first. If he runs a 4.5 or better, he will be a first round pick and could be first WR taken. If he runs closer to a 4.55 then I doubt he is first WR taken but could still go first or early 2nd. If he runs worse than a 4.55 then I think he falls to the second round. I personally expect a 4.9 to 4.52 from him.
  22. I dont know, I mean he led a team to the SB, that team then dismantled itself and became the least talented roster in the NFL yet he still had 16 TDs and only 4 INT in his last partial season. Not saying he could be a franchise corner stone, but he is certainly better than 2/3rds of all the QB's in the NFL when you factor in backups too. In other words, he is good enough to be playing in the NFL still. Not really fair to say a guy is not good if he was good enough to make a SB and get a $100m contract from what he did on the field. Terrible contract...yes, absolutely. But bad enough player to no longer be in the league? No way. I get people dont think he is a good starting option, but he is obviously good enough to be part of the NFL.
