  1. Even without knowing the details, this contract is not as bad as it first may seem.....Smith averaged $3 million/year in Oakland on his last contract, and that was signed 4 years ago. He was also PFF's #1-rated run blocking TE in 2015 (I could not find more recent stats).
  2. the fact that Mills is better than anyone else that Miami had for RT tells you all you need to know about their OL....PFF rated #31 at end of last year (Bills were #26)
  3. Per Spotrac, Lawsons 2019 money is fully guaranteed....there's no way he gets cut, even if Ziggy comes to town....
  4. Another vote for Dinosaur BBQ - I don't think of this as a chain even if there are a few others, and also has advantage of decent beer on tap selection.... (Tip - try the Big Ass Pork Plate, with beans and rice!)
  5. What am I missing - why WOULDN'T he be extended (option picked up)? If there is no downside - he can always be released prior to his fifth year with no money lost - but there is upside, if he does put it all together this year and have a breakout year, we retain his rights for another year, to play, sign to a longer contract, or trade.
  6. Not saying passing on those two makes sense to me either, but Tampa is rumored to be in love with Devin White, and they do have a need at LB.....hope those rumors are true....
  7. I for one love that we are actually now talking about drafting for depth and long-term planning, to be ready to replace guys whose contracts are up or are flexible to be cut in the next year or two.....this is so different from drafting to fill larger and immediate holes.....I am definitely not used to this!
  8. OK - rough numbers - Saints crushed the weak Patsies fans, taking 67% of 45,000 votes - that means Saints got 30,000 votes. Bills eked out a win over formidable Packers, taking 54% of 65,000 votes - that means Bills got 35,000 votes, Packers got 30,000 votes. By my math, Bills >> Packers, Packers = Saints, therefore Bills>>Saints....Hello Final Four!
  9. Murphy would not be on the team right now if the Bills did not believe he could contribute next year. The Bills had an out, coulda saved $2.5 million - you gotta trust that they know more than us......
  10. I get it - roster is getting full - but don't forget that a trade down can also be done for pick(s) next year. Regardless, there is always room for improvement. You can never have too many picks or too much competition.....
  11. I'm told street free agent TE Dwayne Allen is scheduled to fly to Baltimore on Tuesday at this time, and then fly to Buffalo Tuesday night as of now, per source. https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/1102793044053639169 And the stage is set for another receiver picking Baltimore over us.....
  12. I'm no contract wiz, and not that I think this is a good fit, but signing and restructure bonuses are KC's hit, correct? So the team that trades for him is only liable for salary and workout bonus, which would be "only" $15.5 mil in 2019 and $17.5 mil in 2020 (with no 2020 cap hit if we released him after one year)?
  13. Clay will serve more as the blocking TE, allowing Seals-Jones to run more receiving routes....
  14. McCarron's role was supposed to be as a bridge QB, to be a hopefully decent starter and hold down the fort while the kid learned the ropes. McCarron had little starting experience, and while he did not make waves, he came here to be a starter and had no real desire to sit on the bench as a mentor and educator. When he could not even beat out Peterman in the preseason, his value to the Bills dropped off a cliff, essentially an expensive 3rd-stringer who doesn't play special teams. Anderson is a much better fit for the backup position - a much cheaper replacement who offers real value beyond emergency fill-in duties if your starter gets hurt. And I'm guessing that's why the Bills were talking to Anderson well before he did agree to sign with the team.
  15. Just what i was thinking - at least we were on the road against an at least average team, but to lose that big in a home opener against the jets? Ouch!
  16. Maybe not the biggest whiff, but Erik Flowers deserves mention here too.....
  17. One of the Sirius XM football channels devoted several minutes to Zay this morning - and not in a nice way. They reported his season catch rate was below 22%, while every other Bills WR had a catch rate % in the 60's or higher (Mathews was highest, in the 70's). This is not a slight difference - it's a cliff drop! I personally wish him well, and would not give up on him, but he needs seasoning and practice time to figure things out - and until then, he should not be seeing as many game day targets as he is. 36 targets on the season (if I remember right) is starting-WR target numbers, we need more production on those targets or we are handcuffing ourselves. It's not like this is a lost season and we can afford to let him slowly figure things out over a full season.
  18. met a really strange guy last year eating liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.....
  19. Everyone seems to think the relocation fees are much larger than they really are.....Bills share has a value of $27 million TOTAL, and will be paid over 10 years, starting in 2019.....a few million a year is peanuts in the overall operating budget, and is not gonna make any real difference in the small market teams ability to sink or swim..
  20. Ummm......Woods is already gone to Rams. Wood is still our starting center....adds to credibility if you can get the names right....just saying....and I respectfully disagree. Groy is great depth for the inevitable injury. I will be happy if he never has to fill in for Wood.
  21. Fully agree - and the other thing here is that if you draft a QB in the first (or second) round, you are missing the opportunity to get a high impact player at another position. Would you rather have: (a) TT plus a top-ten pick at a position of need that is much less likely to be a bust; or (b) a hit-or-miss "3rd or 4th best QB in a mediocre QB class"? This is a no-brainer to me.....
  22. Not that he'll demand huge bucks, but Goodwin becomes a UFA at end of this year anyway (only $150K in dead money if we drop him now), and so is replaced by a guy with a higher potential ceiling and one that is (hopefully) less injury prone, and is locked up for years to come at a more team friendly price. Oh, and Listenbee is a stud gunner on special teams .No brainer for a late round pick.
  23. Coulda been a lot worse - the Bills coulda signed ex-Brownie Bowe instead....$169K per yard of offense last year! http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/4184/dwayne-bowe
