  1. Pro Football Focus rates them both in top 4 among 107 CB's: http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/nfl/57058/334/week-6-start-em-or-sit-em?pg=4 Nice to know, but article also predicts that TE Eifert will annihilate us this week!
  2. Dixon is your 3rd-string RB that does many other things well...but when you need a runner, why sign Herron when Bryce was still available? Bryce knows the system and the O, Seems like he woulda been a better short-term, plug-and-play starter.
  3. My thoughts: 1. Gilmore could not have been called for a penalty on his interception, because he had a right to go for the ball. 2. Dixon is not a starter, but as a 3rd string RB who contributes so much other than rushing numbers, I have no problem with his play today. 3. Tough to criticize TT much, even on his accuracy - this game came down to two long throws. TT completed his on perfect throw to Hogan in 4th quarter. Mariota grossly underthrew Wright in first half on a sure TD. That was the game - our free agent outperformed the stud top draft pick (at least for this game). 4. Anyone else notice McCown lighting it up for Cleveland? He is better than Cassel, and the best thing that happened to us was him signing with Cleveland. I'm not sure we start TT if McCown was on the roster, and I doubt we win this game or have TT developing now if McCown had signed with the Bills.
  4. OK - so a call girl dressed as Santa Clause would be a ho-hoing ho hoeing a row in a road - now that would be toughest of all!
  5. Can Cassel's contract be re-negotiated? If Cassel is cut, no one would claim him on waivers and take over his existing contract (starter money), as no other starting positions are up for grabs. So, Cassel will be a backup somewhere. And if he'll only be offered backup money elsewhere, there's gotta be a way to keep him here at a lower salary, yes?
  6. Signing coincided with Seattle announcement of Turbin ankle sprain, with "no timetable" for return....they needed backup/relief for Lynch, and Freddy should be a great fit here. Not to mention he is still tight with Lynch. Hate to see him go, but he couldn't have landed in a better spot (for himself or the Bills). All the best, Freddy!
  7. $$ is not THE issue, but it always has to be considered.....I would love to have Cassel as a backup/mentor, but as another poster pointed out, he'd likely be the highest paid backup in the league. I forget the exact number, but I believe we free up 4 million or so if Cassel is not on the team. Personally, if Cassel isn't starting, I'd rather invest that money in extending one of our key starters.
  8. Cleveland starting D is no joke - TT gets the toughest test of the preseason here....if he performs well, he deserves to become the front-runner, if he's not already. TT got them in the end zone last night - twice - something Cassell didn't do at all, even though he went 7/8 passing. And I don't buy the whole "it'll never last once the D's game plan for TT" argument. First, the same can be said for Cassel - once D's realize he's just constantly checking down, then they bring everyone up, and both the checkdowns and run game come grinding to a halt (anyone remember our Trent Edwards offense?). And second, TT is not just a runner. I said it before - if Goodwin and Thompson make those catches last night (both were well thrown, catchable balls), TT wouldn't have needed to run as much - but he did to keep the drives alive, and the Bills came out with points.
  9. If Goodwin and Thompson make those catches, we wouldn't be talking about this....and with any other QB, after incompletions like those, we're kicking....key play for me was the one where TT had room to run, but hits Karlos for the first down. This guy is NOT one-dimensional.
  10. What he said - and I fear for over-reaction at the stadium. Aside from the fact that punishing the masses for actions of the few is wrong, you can't eliminate alcohol. You've seen the beer lines at halftime, before beer sales are shut down in 2nd half of games...people just stock up, or find other ways .I've personally watched someone pull an entire case of beer, 24 cans, from inside his Carhartts at a Bills game. I've also seen someone smuggle an entire keg into a game. Both feats made me laugh...these were good-natured folks, I'd sit with anytime without reservation. I've also seen bad drunks that I was ashamed to have as fellow Bills fans, and that ruin a good time for all, vulgar in front of kids, picking fights, etc. Cheap end zone seats seem to attract this element - particularly if its a Raiders game! - but I've also seen 'em sitting upper deck and front row at midfield. Bills are obviously making plenty of money on each beer sold, so why not increase security a bit with these profits, get rid of the bad apples quickly, and change the culture a bit.
  11. OK - I get it - we'll be playing lights-out D, and have a strong running game...but do we do we really need just a conservative, pocket passing "game manager", or do we need a QB who can convert some third downs by whatever means available, seal some wins, all while getting better in the process? Honestly, I'm looking at the Bills right now, and if this team isn't the second coming of Seattle, there never will be one, and I can't think of a better team to emulate. Tyrod is our Russell Wilson - similar skill set, and ability to get better as he plays without having to carry the team. And we have an OC who knows how to take advantage of these Kaepernick-type skills. And a HC who has lusted after Tyrod for a while now. Add in the fact that Tyrod has had a strong training camp thus far - it's arguable who has performed best, but given Tyrod has the fewest starts among the three competitors, if he's even close, he has the most upside to improve as he gets more starts under his belt. Honestly, the more I think about it, we'd be stupid NOT to start Taylor, and roll with him as long as he does not face plant in the preseason or early season games. Somebody please tell me if there's a flaw in my logic here....
  12. Buscaglia: "Since the Bills came back from their first day off on Monday, Tyrod Taylor has been the best quarterback on the field every single day — including Friday’s session" http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/7-bills-training-camp-observations-day-7 Combine this with Rex's comment about Indy not knowing which QB they will face until week 1 - but the Bills will know....in my mind, Taylor is the only QB that is worth hiding from Indy if starting. With his running ability, he's the only one Indy may need to game plan a bit for. We get no advantage by hiding identity of Cassell or EJ....
  13. Houston is suddenly desperate for a RB - it'd be nice to get a late round pick for one of ours that may be dropped anyway....
  14. Latest Buffalo News report says Cassel is "leader in the clubhouse right now"...disturbing reporting! I'm really hoping Bills are seeing this through Astro's eyes, not Dunne's....
  15. While I don't like the fact that McLovin is unable to practice, he's been around long enough that he shouldn't need many reps....as a rookie, however, Darby can use as many as he can get. This is an opportunity for Darby to grow up fast, and in terms of team depth and experience, probably serves the Bills better in the long run.
  16. LOVE this thread! And trust this review more than media reports - but I gotta ask - how can Lewis be on this list if he looked thin and showed questionable hands, while others flashed? Is this a "most-noticed" good list, or does it include bad notice also?
  17. ??? All of the above are good answers, but for me the single most important item is for the Bills to stay injury-free....
  18. Forgot about his migraine history in Minny - has he kicked that for good? Haven't heard anything recently....
  19. So happy to see this! So what was the final damage - how much did we end up paying this guy to play a total of what, 3 games?
  20. Thank you....the lynch mob mentality today is excessive. At least the Bills are waiting to hear out the facts, whereas others have been canned even before trial and details are known. Since when are we guilty before proven innocent? Particularly when an alleged infraction occurs on personal time, this should be the job of the legal system to hand down punishment. Following conviction/due process, the NFL may have their say in accordance with its bylaws under which players and coaches signed on to abide by. And then and only then should an employer (Bills) decide if the infraction: (I) impacts the ability of the person to do their job; (ii) places anyone at the worksite at risk of harm; and/or (iii) is a recurring issue/repeat offender type of a thing. If so, then that is grounds for the team to take action. In this particular case, linemen are generally considered the toughest players in the NFL - so you don't expect them to have a hippie-beatnik peace freak coach, do you? I don't claim to know all the details, but to give Kromer the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, I can easily see a situation with rowdy, teenage men provoking him to the point where I would not blame him at all for striking out. So, just ease up on all the knee-jerk stone throwing, witch-hunting, book-burning McCarthyistic attitudes, and allow the system to work as intended.
  21. I actually love that Williams is skipping OTAs - it gives Miller more reps and time to gel with the OL, and makes it all that much easier to cut Williams and save some $$ when the time is right. Those $$ will come in handy elsewhere (Dareus extension?)
  22. Rotoworld is reporting Collins wants to play tackle, which would make the fish longshots.... http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/10371/lael-Collins Thoughts on him playing tackle for Bills? They were already experimenting with sliding Glenn inside - not sure I understood or agreed with that one, but could Henderson slide into a guard spot?
  23. What he said....but I think maybe the biggest problem for Brown here is a questionable fit for a ground and pound offense. I believe Brown has a lot of potential, just not in this offense. You want to keep the RB's that have the most value to the team - and if you aren't playing special teams and are at best a back-up part-time player due to the offense being run (and one that you're likely not keeping next year anyway), then sorry, but you don't roster him strictly because he might be good on another team. You trade him if at all possible, and if not, he's a cut casualty and you move on.
  24. Williams is not starter-caliber, particularly in this year's offense - he has the size, but not the power, so is not a great fit. He is versatile, can play guard or tackle, and would make for good backup depth, but we need a better starter.
