  1. Ugghhh....Mack Hollins $2.6M contract (7th rd compensatory....barely) wipes out Floyd's $10M, 5th rd loss? Something seriously wrong with that.....
  2. Developmental project with upside - what else do you want in 6th round??
  3. Agree to disagree. PFF is not perfect, but they rated him as 82nd best graded safety with a +56.9 overall grade this past year. And KC let him go, and Bills signed him for less than KC paid him. Bishop, meanwhile, has a reputation as being smart, excels in zone coverage and TE coverage. If Edwards beats him out, its a wasted 2nd round pick, IMHO.
  4. I think it could go either way, but I'm hoping Edwards is the backup.....
  5. I loved what Diggs brought production wise for the first few years, but the trade speaks volumes to what the Bills are all about character wise in the locker room. And this was not a step back. I wasn't sure what to think at first, but am happy and trusting the process now. Can't wait to see what WR we draft.
  6. They do have Darrynton Evans, but I am not here to quibble - I agree I can see picking up a return specialist late in the draft or a cheap free agent. This is a big change, and yards are yards....we should be looking to be proactive and take advantage of this however we can. I want to give Josh the best starting position we can. P.S. Pretty sure the Steelers were thinking the same when they just happened to sign Cordarelle Patterson just hours after the kickoff change was approved. Kickoff return value was minimized before the change.....
  7. Guaranteed money guarantees he is here for two years. If it works out, we have him here for a third year at $8m or so - and if he is good, thats a steal considering how much higher good WR's will cost then - and if not, we suffer little dead money. Only risk is if he faceplants this year - and I'm not thinking thats likely.
  8. You don't want to kill the aggressiveness, but note that the OC and WR1 are not having discussions with Jackson or Benford. It is only Elam. That is my concern (and pretty sure its not because Jackson and Benford need to be holding more). I am so not an Elam hater - I would love him to be take the #2 spot. Just don't want us giving up 1st downs for ref calls.
  9. That is a fine line, agreed, hate when one of those calls decides a game....
  10. There is aggressive play, and stupid play.....Elam has mad skills, but he can't be giving up the first down before the ball comes close to the WR.
  11. The OC and WR1 are trying to help Elam - not sure why the DB coach is not - but if Elam gets called for PI and keeps our O off the field, its every bit as much of an issue as the drops we saw from l'il dirty and gabe last year that drove us all nuts. Just saying.
  12. Tuning into this thread late, I am surprised that no one has brought up the bigger issue. Gabe is not on the same page as Josh. Many of JA's misses and interceptions were targets to Davis. Davis has extreme talent, but his head does not seem to be always in it, or at least not on the same page with his QB. Even the awesome TD vs NE, Josh led Gabe to the middle, well before Gabe thought to brake that way to catch it. The natural instincts and chemistry just do not seem to be there. And I was fully expecting it to be there. Just my two cents. Once the WR's have to scramble at all, I do not have faith in Davis. Really wish I did.
  13. Actually heard he was more of a Gold Star 5-way guy.....gonna have to adapt his chili tastes here!
  14. I couldn't remember if Philly won any back in the 80's, but yeah, moving from Philly to Buffalo, I watched both, and teams were very similar - great coaching (Marv for Bills, obviously, and Jim Mora for Philly in the 80's, if I remember correctly), but never able to get over the hump......
  15. Full show here (Beane section starts at 34:00 or so): edit: sorry for repost, somehow missed the post above!
  16. Just the fact that this is an 8-page thread, arguing that Josh is disrespected by being ranked 6th........which I get, he should be higher.....but as of even two years ago, if anyone told me we would have a bonafide top 6 QB, I woulda been buying rounds. Just saying. Awesome thing to argue!
  17. Looking at his career stats, he did do some kick returning his first year with SF....wonder if Bills may give him a look there?
  18. I'm liking this line of thinking that Allen gets career years out of his receivers.....if Sanders has his career year now, we will be sitting pretty!
  19. I remember when I thought NE made a huge mistake in dropping Bledsoe for some unknown guy named Brady......I truly have no idea what they plan for QB, but yeah, they still scare me.....I'll believe the evil empire demise when I see it.
  20. I love Allen, and do believe he has improved, but some of the OP's stats are skewed. Allen did only play in 11 games in 2018 - so you can't use 2018 seasonal rankings comparing him to other QB's that played more games. For example, a large reason he finished 30th in total passing attempts and 32nd in total passing TD's last year is because many other QB's played more games than him. So the improvements from 30th to 15th and 32nd to 19th is likely more because he is now being compared to other QB's that played the same amount of games in 2019. If you want look at game averages, such as passing attempts per game, that would be a much better comparison.....
  21. Ummm....don't forget that 34 of the 90 guys on the team now will be free agents next year. Sure, some will not be among the final 53, but many will. Restricted free agents in 2020 include Levi Wallace and Robert Foster, while UFA's include Jordan Phillips, Spencer Long, Lorax, Kevin Johnson, Hauschka, Shaq Lawson, Quinton Spain, and LaAdrian Waddle, among others. And key players to try and lock-up before their 2020 contract year include Tre White, Matt Milano, Jordan Poyer, Dion Dawkins and maybe Zay Jones. Given the need to extend/re-sign some of the above, and fill the shoes of those leaving with comparable talent, smart spending remains the order of the day. We are in decent shape, but over the top spending would land us right back where we were, and I don't see any way that this regime will let that happen.
  22. FantasyPros just came out with their ranking of coaches: https://www.fantasypros.com/2019/05/nfl-head-coach-rankings-2019/ McD came in at #19 (Gase was #31, Marrone was #32).
  23. Too bad Buddy Ryan wasn't our DC then.....now THAT woulda been entertaining!
