  1. FWIW - here's Rotoworld's take: Stroud is essentially getting a new four-year, $28 million contract. $12 million is guaranteed and he'll get $16M in the first two seasons. Stroud turns 31 in June, battled injuries in each of the 2005-2007 seasons, and isn't nearly the pass rusher he once was. It's pretty surprising that the Bills are extending his deal when he was already signed through 2010. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=1429 This ain't gonna make Peters or Jackson any happier, that's for sure!
  2. Everyone's obsessing about TE, and we do have average-joes (at best) at that spot - but why do we really need a high-profile, pass catching TE? We've got two ELITE wideouts, a very good 3rd WR to pull in passes across the middle (Reed is more than a stretch at #2, but will be great if he can stick to #3), and two RB's with good hands coming out of the backfield. How many more pass catchers do we need?? We need a TE with great BLOCKING skills to help out the OL, not a prima donna with hands that will whiff on blocks. Seriously - how many catches did the TE's make last year in AZ with Fitz and Boldin going nuts? or in NE, with Moss and Welker going off? Their passing games were fine! Personally, I'll be upset if the Bills draft a TE before they address the DL and OL needs.
  3. ??? Nobody has noticed that this draft scenario has Sanchez still available ??? If the draft goes as you say, with all the top pass-rushing DE's gone and Sanchez still available, the Bills would have no problems finding someone to trade down with for a lower 1st + an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick. Hell, Denver might even trade with the Bills just to keep someone else from stealing Sanchez one spot ahead of them (I'm not buying all the man-love they're giving Orton). The only possible exception to this is if Ayers is atop the Bills draft board, and they are afraid he would not fall to them if they trade down....
  4. I seriously doubt that they stick with Cassells as a starter for the year. My guess is that Simms will be signed, and Bellichek will lean on the D more than he had to last year. Predictions aside - the hit on Brady did not look dirty, but I did a flashback to the hit on JP last year, which was definitely a cheap shot and looked worse on film...I'd never root for anyone to get injured, but it does have a poetic justice-type element to it.
  5. My personal favorite was when I read that Coach Marvin Lewis referred to him as "Ocho Psycho" to the press....
  6. As much as I would love to see the Pats do a face plant, it ain't gonna happen....have you looked at their schedule?? Based on last year's won-loss record, they have the easiest schedule in the league. They could seriously digress this year on offense and defense, and still have a realistic shot at 16-0. It sucks, but that's the way it is.
  7. This just in....Jason Peters is now the fourth-highest paid lineman on the team!
  8. I have not seen anything yet on the salary cap issue......bringing Favre back would have to kill their cap figure, but no one seems to be looking at it from this angle. Can they even bring him back? The press keeps talking about GB's options as (i) release him outright; (ii) trade him; or (iii) have him serve as backup QB. I can't see that they would have the cap space for option 3. Anyone seen any real numbers???
  9. They must really be hurting to sell these....just received this by email (I had signed up for the lottery earlier, but never bought any tix): Hey, Sports Fans! Preseason & Two-Game Tickets Available We are pleased to announce the release of a new block of standard tickets for the Bills Toronto Series! The majority of these tickets are priced from $70 to $195 per game. These exclusive tickets are available as a result of sponsor and NFL re-allocations. We are thrilled to be able to offer them to you before we put them up for a general public sale. You can purchase the August 14 game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers or a two-game package of the Steelers game and the December 7 game vs. the Miami Dolphins. A limited number of seats are available, so if you want to see NFL football action at Rogers Centre and be a part of Canadian Sports History, you will need to act quickly. By act quickly, they mean you need to buy them at least an hour before game time....
  10. Unfair comparison - Bledsoe had a significantly better supporting cast in Dallas that year. JP may not have been ready, but neither was any other QB. Had Bledsoe stayed in Buffalo, we would've seen the Bills set the all-time futility mark for most sacks in a season, most turnovers by a QB, etc. Tom Brady wouldn't have looked good on that Bills team....woulda kinda been like the last Super Bowl for him, running for his life, only doing it 16 weeks in a row...LOL - come to think of it, I'd pay to see that!
  11. Look, don't make fun of the poor girl's weight.....let's use it! See if she can play center, and offer her a job if she'll drop the suit against Marshawn!!
  12. With a civil suit pending, the terms of the plea deal may become more important, and Clark has not seemed very flexible on this so far.... As far as Clark saying that he expects this to be resolved this week - hasn't he been saying this for three straight weeks now?? I'm hopeful things get wrapped up soon, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  13. My story is different from most - I was born and raised in Philly, and was a die-hard Broad Street Bullies fan when the Flyers were in their 1970's hey-day. I went to college in Rochester, and after spending a little time in California, I returned to western NY and took a job in Orchard Park in 1988. It took me only about one year to lose my allegiance to Philly and fall in love with the Bills and Sabres. The Bills were easy to love - Jim Kelly and company would stop in for breakfast at the Orchard Park cafe right below our office, I'd see Thurman out at the town park at lunch, ran into Cornelius Bennett at Long John Silvers once.....they were regular guys. The Sabres weren't doing as well, but I actually had season tickets for them, and a regular season win over the Bruins was as good as any Bills win. I live in Rochester now, and still travel to at least one game per year. But what makes western New York so great are the people. The people are the first things that I talk about to out-of-state friends and family. Way more friendly and down to earth than those in Philly, and Buffalo natives who move out of the area are quick to discover this. To me, this is the biggest part of what keeps Buffalo natives loyal to both the city, people, and it's sports teams. 'Nuff said!
  14. Guilty, not guilty, I really don't care - the following is the issue here: Legal observers have stated that similar cases of leaving the scene of an accident, when no one is seriously injured, usually lead to a plea to a lesser traffic infraction, with the defendant often paying about a $250 fine. But Erie County District Attorney Frank J. Clark had said that he would resort to a grand jury if investigators could not get satisfactory answers from people who knew about the accident or Lynch’s actions at the time. As someone else said about 5 pages ago, this is grandstanding on the part of Clark, pure and simple....he's trying to make a name for himself on a high profile case. It's not like all this effort will pay off by putting a child molester behind bars - even if Lynch or someone else is proven guilty, IT'S A $250 FINE! Yet how much money do you think this is costing the taxpayers?? I'm not defending Lynch or anyone else, but if Clark is obvioously lacking any kind of proof, how much effort is normal for a $250 infraction? If my kids $250 bicycle gets stolen, do you think that they would put this amount of manpower and effort into finding the thief? Come on - just close the case and move on already! If the Toronto woman wants to sue for tens or hundreds of thousands in damages (medical costs, mental anguish, whatever), that's where a jury may be needed to prove Lynch was driving - but not for a $250 fine!! I'm surprised some taxpayer group hasn't jumped all over this.
  15. Non-fans who scalp for a living and buy hundreds of tickets before you get a chance to purchase them are the soul-less, sleazy scumbags of the earth. But come on, a true fan who picks up just a few extra tickets to help pay for the seats that he will use to cheer on the home team? If you are mad at this guy, then do you hate apple pie, hot dogs and the 4th of July too? I have bought Bills tix on stubhub before, I'll do it again, and I would rather have a local fan like this making a few $$ than having my money go out-of-state to some sleazebag who couldn't even find Buffalo on a map.
  16. OK - here's the deal. Season ticket holders got first dibs, and hardly bought any tickets - neither wanted to pay the outrageously high prices. Then the lottery kicked in. I signed up under 3 or 4 email addresses before I knew the costs, as I was hoping to buy a bunch then sell a few to help pay for my tickets. So much for that idea - at those prices, anyone buying to try and resell will end up losing money bigtime. The lottery is now in it's third stage - I've had one of my email addresses selected in each stage, and they send you a password that is good for a week. Any of the cheap seats that made it past the season ticket holders did not last long, and are now all gone, and the expensive seats are obviously not selling too fast. The lottery is hype, and I'm sure that they will go through all of the lottery email addresses without selling out. They made a big fuss over how many email addresses they had, but notice we haven't heard a peep about the number of ticket sales since. Which can only mean that sales have been disappointing. So, the fact that you have 200,000 or so football fans (Bills and Argos season ticket holders and lottery email entrants) able to buy up to 8 tickets each, yet they can't sell out a very small stadium, tells me they seriously overestimated the demand and overpriced the tickets.
