  1. Yeah, just a few short months later he is in the Bronco, right?
  2. I like your reasoning. But personally i like Cordy Glenn from UGA. Played in the south at an SEC school had numerous starts at gaurd. Played some center and started his senior yr @ LT. He has never had an injury problem. Tough smart kid and a freak of nature. 6'6 and 345. he had a 4.97 40, has 36 inch arms, benched 225 31 times at combine. Had a good senior bowl week he is A man mountain, who could rotate in at LT w Hairston this year. next year it would be his spot and Hairston moves to RT. If Hairston proves he is your LT then Glenn becomes your rt gaurd. if Levitre can not be resigned Glenn is your lt gaurd w hairston as LT.
  3. Probably he has been offered, but so far Buffalo made him the best offer. Buddy said he and Bell's agent have had constant communication through the process. To me it says Bell is waiting and hoping. but the longer he sits on the market the more of a gamble it is for him.
  4. I get the point system, but i would personally rather have three guys in the first 46 picks. The chances of hitting on a starter decreases every round. So while i understand what you are saying, i think this team needs at least 3 more guys out of this draft that can be starters this year or next. They also need another 2 guys that can compete for playing time this year and provide good depth for next year/maybe start for injury reasons. If they got that out of this draft it would be a winner. And the likely hood of getting three of those 5 is better with 3 picks in the first 46, no?
  5. I do not get that from the pic. The guy is a man mountain. He is faster then probably 90% of the people his age and ways 100lb more then them. He is a freak of nature when you think about it. Its like your suburban going as faster as your newly divorced neighbors corvette.
  6. So if he is there with the one of the fourths, you grab him? I actually like taking OLB that have played against a lot of spread offenses in college. If they have played at a high level there it will be an easier transition into the life of an OLB. especially when you are asked to cover Gronk, Keller, Hernandez. etc...
  7. As a former Blue Hose football player, i love it!
  8. Nice measurables, and he has gotten a lot of experience trying to cover wr and te. I do remember his great game last rose bowl. would not be a bad guy to draft...any clue what round? 2, 3, 4?
  9. a 'steal'. for sure. I think you got to look at the whole body of work. the player's measurables, his attitude his stat's, and where he achieved those stats. I mean Stevie is a classic example of a guy that had on eyear of production, but had it in the SEC. He had a great attitude, but had average speed and decent size. Thats why he was taken late in the draft. He was probably picked right where he should have been. If the Bills kept burying him on the depth chart then we may never had known. But the few oportunites he got in his second year, he started to show his potential.
  10. He sounds like a guy the Ravens will grab in the third or fourth. And to me it could be a win win. If Ray Lewis can't get the kids head right, no one could. Say what you want about Lewis, but he has a knack for helping younger guys 'grow up' in the league. He is like having a player/coach.
  11. For some reason i get the feeling thats about to happen. History repeats itself often.
  12. Back to the OP, i think scouts and GM have been in the business for so long they see things you or i may miss. They can see the way a guy plants his foot or the fluidness in his hips etc... They also can look at a guy and compare him to others they have scouted in the past, some that have worked and some that have not. At the end of the day they stil are making a gamble. Who knows how a guy is going to develope and mature. Think back to how you were at 21 0r 22. I think this is why Buddy and Chan want guys that have displayed high character so far, it translates into them being a performer at the NFL level.
  13. Whoa, that stinks. never wish an injury on anyone. Having said that i was happy when the Bills traded him and am even more happy this is not another injury BLO has to deal with.
  14. The only thing that concerns me about this is, Hairston was also injured last year. The knock on him coming out of Clemson was how big he is up top and he has small legs. When you consider he suffered an ankle injury last year, this may confirm that some? Now i am not saying Hairston isn't the answer long term, but as we stand today the Bills have zero depth at LT. It would make great sense for Bell to come back to Buffalo, he already is familiar with his linemates and the O. I like the incentive ladden deal for a year or maybe two. If he stays healthy he makes his money, and he will get a big deal next offseason from someone. Then add a quality tackle in the draft in round 3 or 4.
  15. IF the Bills are thinking of taking a wr at 10, then your logic makes perfect sense. You basically let another team take the risk, develope him, and now you get the reward. Granted probably a higher contract then you would pay the number tenth pick? I still do not think they are drafting a wr at 10...but between the two scenarios i would do the trade as well.
  16. Got to agree here. If he gets 3 mil base and w incentives could reach 4-5mil, he could not pass that up. 3 year deal worth max of 15mil, 8-9 gauranteed? Sounds more then fair given his age and the fact he is coming off an injury
  17. It sounds like James Hardy part two, i mean from the size of the kid down to him having maybe an attitude problem? UDFA maybe, But if you can find a SJ and a D. Bell in the seventh, they are vaulable picks?
  18. I think that is one of the main reasons he came to the Bills, besides the money obviously. He knows that between Williams and Dareus, there are three less Olineman to block him. He also spent a considerable amount of time with the coaching staff and K.Williams going over schemes. I think he wanted to go somewhere that would let his abilites shine. Get to the passer, first and foremost. As far as the leadership stuff goes, i think Dareus is going to be the leader of this D for the next few years.
  19. This team still needs to show it can play consistant when they have injuries. depth will help and so should the playing time guys got over the past two years. injuries will happen but Bills need to show they dont have such a large drop off. Having said all that, every game is winnable in the NFL, anything can happen!!
  20. Everything points to LT for the first pick. They made DE a non issue in FA. They signed Stevie back in FA and they also have 9 guys currently under contract at WR. They restructured McGee deal to bring him back at a more cap friendly rate. Think they want to add a CB but dont think they see it as the glaring hole LT is. DL in soild. LB is weak, but taking a LB at 10 is a bit of a gamble. this could be the only other area you could say needs players and good ones fast. RB is not an issue. I will not be the least bit surprised to see Cordy Glenn's name called. Nix has hinted that they have a different way at looking at LT. And he also has stated that it is way easier to kick a tackle back inside to gaurd if he doesn't pan out at tackle. Glenn played every OL position at UGA. This can not be overlooked with both Wood and Levitre having contracts coming up shortly. He is a freak, has the size and strength.6'6 345lbs. Played LT in college at times before mostly playing LG. He never had serious injury problems, played in more games in UGA history for an OL. He played in SEC, Buddy loves and knows the South. Playing in the SEC he went up against the best Dlineman in the country, look no further then Dareus. I for sure think OT is the pick and Glenn is the sleeper guy.
  21. That is very interesting. and very helpful. Thank You. Maybe its because you can project an OL easier? By that i mean, you can see if he has good foot work, can get out of his stance quickly. This should be easy to see on tape. You can also easily see his strength from combine and tape. And seeing how OL play in a much smaller area on the field, it is easier to pick up on all their tendencies? Personally i would love the Glenn Pick. His measurables, and fact he played at a top notch SEC school are very important. He played against some of the best pass rushers and Dlinemen in the country. This can not be underestimated. If Buddy and the scouts pour over the film and like what they see, i would have no problem with them taking him. He also fits the 'you can always move him down to gaurd if LT does not work' philosophy.
  22. he probably came to Buffalo because it is the perfect situation for him. Kelsay plays run downs he plays passing downs. maybe Anderson realizes what he does best too. He loves to rush the passer, not so great against the run. With the Bills he gets to do what he is good at. If he gets 25 snaps a game, and is able to apply presure on the qb it is money well spent. It also gives the Bills less positions to worry about during the draft.
  23. I got to go with Tebow. If he is used like he was his freshman year at Fla when Leak was there, he could be a game changer. It will be up to the Jets O Cord to figure out when/how to use him. Sanchez will also have to be 'babied' in this process. Not something i see Rex doing well. I mean i see him trying at first, then getting pissed if Sanchez pouts. Should make for a very intersting year for the Jets fans. And if it doesn't go smoothly, which i do not think it will in the long run, fun for us Bills fans to watch.
  24. There also needs to be a coralation between drafting a big speedster at #10, when you do not currently have a LT to allow protection for the time to use that speedster. I know Floyd can be used in crossing routes and shorter distances. But what the Bills need is a guy that can make fly route catches or deep posts. And for that you need more then 2-3 seconds. As has been pointed out here, Chans offense was handicapped by the oline. Yes he did a good job of masking it's dificencies, but with a strong LT Chans entire offense can be utilized. That is why i think the Bills go LT in the first.
