Michael Floyd called out by Larry Fitzgerald
atlbillsfan1975 replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all AJ Green has already proven he can play in the NFL. Floyd so far is showing why despite his measurables he went at 13. Also the caliber of opponents ND plays is nothing compared to the SEC. I personally have nothing against Floyd, and since he plays is the NFC West i hope he has a great career. The Bills want team guys. That is who they draft and who they sign in FA. Floyd thus far in his very early career is not showing that behavior. How long do you think it takes Floyd to have the same season Green just had? 65 rec over 1000yds and 7 td.His JR and senior yr in college he had slightly better seasons then Greens rookie year in the NFL. Barring an injury Floyd will never have near the same career Green does. No crystal ball needed. -

It is just silly to compare Floyd to Green. Sorry, but to put up the numbers Green did in the SEC going against the caliber of DB's he did speaks volumes. Much more so then combine numbers do. That is what good GMS look at. -
Who is the most indispesable player on defense ?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
For the reasons Chris Brown stated i also have to concur that Sheppard is the most important guy not to lose. Dline is stacked, and yes it would stink to lose one of the Williams' or Marcel. But LB is already very thin. If Sheppard can step up and be the guy that Barnett thinks he is, then he would absolutely hurt the most to lose. I am not usually a big fan of LB's being that important. The are just like running backs, much of their success starts with the guys playing in front of them. But it seems that if Sheppard went down it would cause some shuffling around in the lB corp. Where as if a dline guy went down, the Bills have adequate depth there. -
any news on torell troup?
atlbillsfan1975 replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I got to agree with you SJF when it comes to White. Think the kid showed he could play in college. Also showed he is an asset to ST. If he is fully healthy for camp i think he gets every opportunity to stick on the team as depth at LB. Batten to me just did not seem like a good playmaker. by that i mean a guy who can diagnos a play and get to the bll quickly. I hope White makes it a difficult decision. -

atlbillsfan1975 replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Patsies could afford to take a risk on a player with a questionable medical history. They were a far more complete team then Buffalo at that point. They gambled and won. So how is Troup doing health wise? He has a very uphill battle, but no GM likes to admit he was wrong. Troup will get every opportunity to prove he deserves a spot. Having said that i do not believe Nix or Chan would keep him unless he is equal to or better then any the more costly vets. -
What were the Best Seats at a Event Personally
atlbillsfan1975 replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you. it was amazing. I was very fortunate. Getting to walk into lockerrooms when you are a boy is like heaven. Fred Smerlas and Jimmy Haslett were always great with me. They were like big kids. What i would not give to go back there with my now deceased father and have that day again. -

I have been blessed to have grown up with family who worked for the Bills in the 70's and 80's. And to have a father who owned Package stores. I got to watch the Bills vs Falcons in 1983 in Fulton County Stadium in the Braves dugout. I was 8 years old. And was out on the field before the game watching the players warm up. After the game got to go into the lockerroom. My father told me never repeat anything you hear th eplayers say. I knew it was 'bad words', my father cussed like a sailor himself. The players however took it to a whole other level. I remember asking my dad, they all know each others moms? Very cool experience. I also got to go to the 1985 Super Bowl and watch the game from club level. Met George Wendt from Cheers. The 1992 and 1993 season SB against the Cowgirls. Countless concerts etc. Like i said, very fortunate childhood. And trying to get the thread back on course. -
Here is what i do not understand. It has been discussed on here before that the third round was somehow left out of the 'slotting' equation. By this i mean the 1-2 and then the 4-7 rounds had very defined perameters for how draftees should be compensated. WTF do you skip over the third? I know someone here will have a theory. I would love to hear it. I do not believe with the countless attorneys both sides had this was a mistake. Maybe i am saying it or have understood it in correctly. So please shed some light on it for me. As it stands today the CBA seemed to create an issue when it should not have. Who possible could have benefitted from this?
-
Maybe not surgery, but medication? Sometimes you can take something that can help correct an issue. This is pure speculation on my part. You got to think there are very few areas of the body that you do not play if they are not 100%. Your brain and heart being two obvious ones. Sure you can play with a sprained ankle or a broken finger. If he has been cleared there has got to be good reason.

Alight, Let's hear the reasons

No, i do not want Plax or any other wr at this point. Think Gailey has taken the approach that he will find/coach his #2 wr from the group he has. At least for this season. Plax will be on some team this year. No doubt. Good point about Whaley, i didn't think about that connection. -

SJF- i think NoSaint hit the nail on the head about TO. I hope he gets serious help. I am afraid he has cried for help at least once maybe twice with attempted suicide. Anyone going through that needs help and prayers. Plax reminds me of Vick. He made a mistake, was punished, and now is trying to move forward. I get what you are saying SJF about having to change. And as NoSaint points out maybe he has not. Depending on our ages(SJF) you seem like a guy over 30. Nosaint you do to, we have all had some one in our life we hope 'gets it'. Why? Because we love them and know their is good in them. I know Plax has good in him, he did some stupid things. You hope for his sake and his families he finally 'gets it'. He may be getting older as a pro athlete, but he is a very young man. If he could turn his life around and career, he would be an example for others. Either way enjoy the conversation with you guys. -

I am surprised to see you post this. you usually are the voice of reason. Now i am not argueing for Plax to be a Bill. I personally think the Bills have so much competition at WR right now, if they bring anyone else in they will need to higher another coach. But you do seem to me like a wise man. One who has heard the saying ' he won't change, until he has hit bottom'. Maybe Plax hit bottom. prison, i am sure, can humble the strongest person. maybe prison did what it was designed to do, for Plax. Who knows, time will tell. But i want to believe people can change for the better. I think we all do, right? -
Interesting tidbit re: NFL Network's Top 100 list
atlbillsfan1975 replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about the fact that 3 out of 13 played for the Bills at some point. Thats kinda crazy. -
So you like telling people they are stupid? That is a big sign of insecurity. Good luck with that. I bet you are the smartest guy in the room everytime? It is a fan board, lighten up. Grammer Police would arrest almost every person on here, at on epoint or the other. My point was, IF a player is not resigned it will probably be because of financial reasons. And those people who stated they did not vote for a player may think that way. I DO trust Buddy and the F.O. Besides Fitz last year, they usually do not resign guys mid season. Calling people 'dull' is ignorant and arrogant on your part.
-
I do not think that is accurate on your part. The financial aspect plays alot on peoples mind. Especially when your talking about a unit. I run a small business and there are many times i woul dlike to be able to give an employee a raise, but can not due to budgets. Your thinking kind of says just pay a guy what he wants because we drafted him and he has been a good player. That sounds kind of dull to me. And your comment about it being super cheap in 5 years is exactly what he will say in 3 years. thus wanting a new deal. So honestly that is a dull arguement.

Cordy Glenn on list of Top 10 Impact rookies
atlbillsfan1975 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That and maybe finally the Bills do? Plus some good luck? Glenn could be the steal of the draft. He could honestly be a pro bowler in a year or two. Think he needs some work with the coaches and will have an adjustment period. He has all the tools, and i believe he will be motivated to show he should have gone in the first, because he IS a LT. -
I get what your saying. I remember people who watched football back then first telling me he was not a great QB. This was in my teens. He was a name i knew and knew the story behind his SB. But had no clue about his career. I recently watched The Namath story on HBO, it was great. The guy had some very good season with the Jets. He however had horrible knees. Not a good thing for a football player, the rules were not the same back then as they are today. Many Qbs took a beating. Personally i like Namath, the HBO show showed him as a very likable guy. He had his troubles, but he was a guy who stood by what he believed in. He even attempted to take on the NFL over his ownership in a club. Unfortunatly most people under 30 who love football will only think of that unfortunate Monday Night game when you bring up Namath.

How can you screw up Fitzpatrick? I mean Fitzpatrick, come on man. -
He is in the HOF because of his charisma. He helped put the NFL on the map. He was the first real 'superstar' in the NFL, maybe all of sports. His personality is why he is in the HOF. He was as beloved a sports figure as you will ever find. The guy was as big as the Beatles for a minute, while the Beatles were the Beatles. It was a culmination of a lot of things. But to even mention Namath as a great QB is playing revisionist history. He was very good for a couple seasons and Great for one game. Just so happened the one game was the SB and he called the victory.

CBS Sports Top 10 Jerks in the NFL
atlbillsfan1975 replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ray Ray? Really? Why because of the shooting after the SB in 99? He didn't do it. He ended up helping the authorities. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. And subsequently has been a model citizan and player. If you asked every coach in the NFL, they would all want Ray Lewis on their team. Granted his skills are diminishing but the guy is a leader. He takes interest in the rookies and likes watching them grow and develope. -
I hear ya on the percentages. But maybe some guys want to know at what price?

Levitre is a solid gaurd. I do not put him on the same level as Grubbs or Nicks, personally. But he will get paid good money. 5 years 23 mil with half gauranteed would be fair. He has been versatile from a health stand point. He is a good interior lineman and that contract would reflect such. Byrd will command a little more if he has another solid year. he was involved in 6 turnovers last season. 3 int 3 forced fumbles. This plus his 2009 9 int year, will have some teams wanting to bid for his services if he hits the open market. Bills should try to extend these two during the season.
