  2. No problem with Cook holding out - he's free to work, or not work as he desires. Cook has already earned $4.6M. Playing this season on the existing contract earns him another $5.4M. He will have earned $10M before age 26. If you assume that between his agent and the tax man, he only nets half of that ($5M), he could have multi-generational wealth even if retired at the end of this upcoming season. If he controls his spending... My issue is with your two implications: First, that he needs this next contract to secure secure financial salvation for multiple generations. That the $10M in earnings on the first contract isn't enough for multi-generational wealth. Your second implication is that the difference between what the Bills would like to sign him to (probably around $10M/year) and what he wants, $15M/year) will be required for multi-generation wealth. With respect to issue #1: Studies about NFL player bankruptcies show that larger contracts and longer careers do NOT substantially reduce their risk of bankruptcy in retirement. This study (https://www.bls.gov/opub/mlr/2015/beyond-bls/life-after-the-nfl.htm) projects 15%-40% of players, regardless of career duration and earnings, will file for bankruptcy within 25 years of retirement. As to implication #2, I would bet Beane would gladly sign him to a contract for $10M/year for 2 years right now. I'm not advocating that Cook accept $10M/year, just making a point that he could likely sign a contract today that guaranteed him $20M over 2 years. That would get him a total of 30M in career earnings before age 28. He has indicated he wants $15M+ year. Over 2 years, that would be an additional $10M+ in earnings. So $40M in career earnings vs. $30M. I would postulate that if an athlete (or person) doesn't have the financial discipline to create generational wealth on $30M in career earnings, the bump from $30M to $40M won't make a difference in financial salvation. Now, I don't have any issue with him (or anyone) holding out, refusing to play, holding in, etc. It's a free market. But let's not characterize this as "two generations of family wealth", or he's got to "feed his family" as Latrell Sprewell infamously said when rejecting a 3 year $21M contract 20 years ago. Speaking of Latrell, he had north of $100 million in career earnings and now has a net worth of about $150K. So much for financial salvation. Ronald Read, on the other hand never made more than minimum wage working as a janitor and gas station attendant yet died with a net worth of 8.6M I postulate, above $500K in annual income, financial salvation is only dependent on your spending....
  3. He received a transmission in the dark room instructing him to.
  4. Gotta be like 5,000,000 to 1. I didn't realize that if you block an XP and return it all the way that it's worth 2 points, not 1. Thanks for sharing.
  5. I would have done better on the SAT’s if they didn’t take place so early in the morning. The hangover didn’t help either.
  6. It may seem legal but in reality, the service is not following Broadcast regulations. If you have to use a VPN or the service is based overseas to avoid broadcast regulations...it's not legal to view in the US without being a subscriber to the service that the broadcaster intends for you to use. It's just easy to do and you're paying someone else to do the work for you so it seems ok.
  7. 🤣... If I wasn't so old I try figure out how to change vague title, but sadly, I can't and as a response to all...
  8. That’s nothing compared to the new math. They make the kids show work on like adding 11 to 12. I guess since everyone can just use the calculator on their phone, they force them to understand the fundamentals. I’ve been able to add in my head since I was like 4.
  9. There's a lot of chatter about how Trump wouldn't have won without Elon. I agree. But it wasn't his endorsement or money that did it. If Elon doesn't buy Twitter there's no way Trump wins.
  10. The 'evil rich' and 'capitalism bad" mentality is a viewpoint I don't understand, particularly from people who've enjoyed the American way of life. Is it envy? The way a homely high school chick hates the head cheerleader because she's not as popular? You're a working stiff, so you hate those living the high life? Most billionaires in this country didn't inherit the wealth. Most are like Terry Pegula, who had a skill/education in a particular field, had business savvy, recognized a market need, exploited it, and got rich. Youtube and the NFL charge insane amounts of money for service, merch, and tickets, unthinkable 20 years ago. But it's only because there's a market for it. Participation is 100% voluntary. If you don't want to pay to see your team, you still have the option to watch at least 5 games each week that are broadcast for free. Using pirate streaming is stealing whether or not it agrees with your level or morality, Yes, the NFL is greedy. But, it's because they can be. It's the American way! But I guess, so is trying to get over on the man!😊
  11. If there ever was evidence of true cultism…this post is it
  12. If I were there I would get a loan for thr 4-6k it would take for good upper seats.
  13. Look at how much of the stadium hasn't been opened for sale yet, and they are already down to $1500.
  14. Their run game is mid at best and the Pickens trade should tell you everything about Pickens that you need to know.
  15. Are you goin to show us your tax returns???
  16. 3am. The same damn time we all seem to randomly wake up for no damn good reason.
  17. They did all the heavy lifting already (Clubs and Sideline Seats). Now it's the upper levels, with PSLs about 1k-1.5k. They will sell them all. Think of it, you get them, and then sell 2-3 games and you've basically made your PSLs back. The draw next year for those seats will be big - only 8 home games with KC, DET, CHI, and probably BALT (AFC north team) AND the draw of a brand new stadium. People want to see this fail, but they will sell them all and people who get the uppers at a reasonable PSL price will be laughing.
  18. Hey just saying a lot teams are facing push back on funds for sandboxes, and yes I embrace my user name it's Einstein like. Just glad the Bills are getting a new sandbox. That's all. "Now all you pesky kids, get off my lawn.", "Marge, where's the soda bicarb?!" 🤣
  19. No. It's two points.
  20. Like the legendary Mad Dog Mike from Put-In-Bay said: Every day above ground is a good day
  21. Son of a b. I misread your initial post and have to apologize for that. I’ll withhold commentary on some of the issues we disagree on, and typically proofread my posts to ensure I’m saying here what I would say in a personal conversation, and missed it. Specifically, I misread your initial stance on Hamas, and that got me thinking about post-WW2 relations with nations interested in our complete annihilation. That’s hard for me to wrap my head around given the way the war impacted members of my family. My bad. Kay wins this skirmish. You said nothing about partnering with Hamas, though I still think the parallels to the imperialistic tendencies of Japan is interesting. I also credited you for thinking quite broadly, I must take that credit back. That said, I had loaded up a second nostalgic tv reference to highlife how misunderstandings can lead to different conclusions. From Happy Days: Fonzie: How did your date go last night? Richie Cunningham: We played chess. Fonzie: You played with her chest??! I had you as the Fonz, yet here we are. I’m the Fonz….Im the Fonz.
  22. Taken in conjunction with that crazy, super long range air battle Pakistan had with India--with Pakistan using Chinese made equipment--and 2025 has already seen a monumental change in warfare. Our military needs to change a lot, and fast.
  23. Thank goodness we’re no longer in the revolving door QB sweepstakes. That period is nothing short of brutal in the modern NFL.
