Shakir to miss the next 5 weeks due high ankle sprain
Doc Brown replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
They can linger. I remember this being the Gabe Davis excuse his first year as the #2 WR. If it's the same severity that Shakir had last year I'm not worried. -
Folks who don't like or appreciate him are going to continue to do so. I don't get the impression that Beane or anyone on the Bills' team is in that camp.

He has made it clear multiple times he wants to be here. No need to over analyze his body language:

Hell, I say keep him out until he's 125%. He doesn't need to rush back for the Ravens. These injuries are very tricky. We need him most for the home stretch. -

why? high ankle sprains, if not handled VERY carefully, can linger for months -
Dallas isnāt trading Parsons. Trading Cook for Parsons isnāt worth the time to post to suggest that because Parsons is not available.

Marv Levy, the countdown to 100 years old! (August 3, 2025)
T.E. replied to Walking Tall's topic in The Stadium Wall
An ultimate leader of men. We all talk about how much we like the current construction of the Bills now. Good guys, hard-working guys, no crazy egos. Marv did not have the benefit of that last description. He had to manage a bunch of guys who, let's be honest, at times could be prima donnas. He did so by treating them with respect, defending any in-fighting in the press, and having a true understanding of the trials and tribulations that an NFL player goes through. He has a bunch of famous quotes, but my favorite may be when he was asked why the Bills didn't have brutal training camps. His response: "It's easy to be tough with other guys' bodies." The players respected him, and they played for him. Three of those four SBs were against probably two of the best seven NFL teams ever, so spare me the nonsense about how he failed to win the big one. -
Ya exactly- He's got 0 leverage. And the more time he misses, the more chance for rust he will have to start the season. Not exactly smart in a contract year IMO

I'll be on a business trip and will have to catch this one at a bar somewhere or even in my hotel room. Don't these HR dingleberries know that you shouldn't have your employees traveling on opening day of the NFL season? This is our freaking national pastime!

Best case scenario deal for us would be something like Greg Tompsett outlined on X⦠Cook and Epenesa plus 2026 1st and 3rd, along with a 2027 1st for Parsons. Restructure Knox and Dawkins and weāre good this year, then it gets tight for a few years. I posted in another thread that it works, but weāre likely gutting our interior OL to do this move. Figure zero chance we can extend McGovern and/or Edwards. Which is fine.. they might already view Grable, Anderson, SVPG as the future after this year. But Torrence would sting if heās the cap casualty. Thats a good deal for both sides. Dallas gets a star player, vet DE and strong pick compensation. We get Parsons and would keep Rousseau. But Kromer would suddenly becomes worth his weight in gold. Funny enough, I wouldnāt worry because I think this FO, for their struggles in certain areas.. are absolutely lights out on the OL since his hire.

Pay the man and let move on! Bills have let this drag way too long. Heās our 2nd best weapon on offense. We been giving out all this money to the defensive guys. Pay our playmakers!!

I don't doubt for a second that him sitting out isn't eating at him, like you said, someone else will gladly take that spot to show that they can do it. I do, in the end, think all of it is about the contract and not really anything else. It's just the timing and suddenness of being on board to then holding in/out is a bit odd to me when you start to consider the potential trades that have or have not become available. If we really want to get tin foily, maybe Beane told him sign or get traded and he's calling the bluff or something. But that is far to fantastical for what is actually probably going on which is just a simple contract scuffle. Though again, the timing is very odd to me but I'm neither him nor his agent.
-
Seems weird to pull a ābusinessā stunt at this stage of camp? Dont get what leverage he thinks he has, and the timing seems off anyway if thatās your play after going gung ho to start camp, but what do I know, Iām no agent. š¤Ø
-
I would not be surprised by this. He is getting bad advice.
-
I'm good with that.
-
I agree in principle, but. I think they do not have the cap space and would have to give up too much depth to do it. Dallas is not trading him anyway.
-
I would imagine on some level sitting out would have to be extremely difficult for Cook. Even if the discourse is over money, the one thing injured players say is the toughest thing about being injured is watching your teammates move on without you. The NFL doesnāt wait until youāre healthy or contracts are settled. If youāre not on the field, someone else will be and theyāll be taking all of your reps. Has to eat at him, Iād guess his agent suggested the āhold inā if thatās what heās doing.

Nice comments except 51 is real. You have turned the US from the most admired to the 2nd most despised country. imho trump is serious. This has become a country issue not a trump issue. My family like many have not bought any Ameruca products since Feb, not food, cars, appliances, soap, toothpaste, crackers, lawn fertilizer, BBQ. Wine, booze,.After 17 years a Bills season ticket holder, not 1 visit to US. I do my part.I hope to see my American friends again one day, but if 51 happens like I think is the intention, they won't be friends.
