You are actually correct in my opinion. What’s sad is the dems couldn’t figure this out. And what’s sadder is these issues are such a trigger that they were willing to vote in a fascist criminal. I suspect it's not so much Cook wanting a premier salary as much as wanting respect. Shakir, Brown, Bernard, Benford, Rousseau...everyone is getting extensions in their last contract year except him. They might see the Hard Knocks spotlight as leverage. The Kyren Williams contract, given that Beane is offering something similar, is perfectly fair and in fact is a better deal than Benford got, given that Benford truly is top-five at his position and Cook is simply not. But Cook might have rejected it while he was feeling raw, and now he's stuck. So Beane has the tricky task of not offending him further but not giving in, either, massaging his ego until he sees what is in his best interests. What he, Beane, needs is to come up with some means to let Cook save face so he can stand up to his ass-hat retinue. Big performance incentives this year, for instance, and maybe more guaranteed money than is on the table. Taking a hardline stance--fining him, for instance, or negotiating via the media would backfire badly. With this "hold-in," Cook has foolishly painted himself into a corner. 1. Secure the border at least to levels that had become, wrongly, acceptable. 2. Don't support trans surgeries for minors, men in women's sports and drag queen story hour. 3. If the Kyren Williams deal does not make this happen then I am of the belief the Bills don't want to make a deal. I am assuming Cook is willing to make a similar deal to what Williams has and that could be wrong. We can pay Cook and then he is the back for the next few years or they draft a guy that brings more to the table next year. I really get the impression Beane is good letting this play out. How does that end? Cook ends the hold in after the last preseason game because now his money is on the line, he is unhappy but really has no choice but to put out his best possible tape which is how he will get what he wants. He can go the way of Levean Bell and end up screwing himself...but I dont see that happening.
