Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup
MJS replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure I agree about them not getting a fair shot. They all played a lot, outside of Manuel. Tyrod also had some pretty good olines. Those olines right before Allen took over were pretty good. -
Yup, including 9.5 in 2023. He'll cost more than a camp body. But how much more is unclear.

Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup

Flutie caused trouble because he could see he was better than Johnson. So, I don't hold that against him. He would know that Allen is better and understand that. -
So, we have like 72 hours until the orange blob says something completely inappropriate about the new Pope, right?

AJ is expendable if they can find a trade partner. That is the only wauy the Bills can write off his $6M salary cap hit

@Alphadawg7 digs in on things and ends up having to spiral into totally indefensible, illogical places to defend his takes. It starts with him not owning up to an error or falsehood that he posted and then proceeds to saying insane things and finishing everything with a peace-out hoping you won't call him on it. And he will keep replying trying to get the last word even if it means finishing 10 posts with peace outs. Honestly it gets hilarious if you know enough not to take it seriously. I give him credit for persistence but he really should take the gaslighting and denial of facts to the political arena. Most of us are here because we are trying to avoid that kind of crap. 😂 This current WR corps has a poor long term track record, it has a poor recent track record. But we were having this same argument with the same people last year who were saying MVS and Claypool were going to re-discover themselves. There isn't a lot of proof of concept with these players like there was with that 2023 room with Diggs and Davis coming off putting up 2K yards. And even then it was obvious they weren't doing enough at the position.

Oh yeah, that guy who made that impressive tackle once in college

For me, there is no by close to Aaron Rodgers in terms of hope for his retirement. I’m sick of seeing headlines about him. For all he may have learned from Favre on the field, he unfortunately copied the need for attention by dragging out his “decisions”.

No, Ryan was nine teams, but he was a hired gun. Clowney was the first over all pick.

Pete Hegseth: The Josh Allen of Defense Secretaries

I think both points are true. 10 is arguably light if you consider what his assumed growth would be, however 15 is too high. Where i’m struggling with it is every guy that had a chance to seek greener pastures, up to and including Josh Allen took less to play in Buffalo. A compromise at the high-end for Cook is in the middle, but he likely feels he’ll get the 15 elsewhere (and he’s probably right about that…31 other teams, surely one of them will overpay). I’m just watching this situation from afar and am totally judging Cook like my two cats judge me on a daily basis. Every other player put the team first ahead of their own finances because they want to win…that’s got to count for something.

Pass Blocking in the NFL isn’t just a “nice to have” quality in a feature back, it’s a must have. Also, he was 19th in Rush Attempts.. over 100 behind Saquan, Henry and Kyren Williams.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
Billsfed1 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
While we may not rank as a duo very high, with all the acquisitions Beane made at WR I think it will be a pretty good year…better than most people think at this point. Also you don’t want to do everything the same year after year. Wrinkles are required every offseason to avoid being predictable and with Beane making the moves he did, I expect there to be an uptick in the passing game. If Josh hits around 4000 yards like he does every year does it really matter what it looks like -

ACTUALLY, YES YOU DO NEED TO EXPLAIN — IDEALLY TO A PROSECUTOR: -
It seems to me it should be a 4 yr deal worth 60 million with a nice backlog figure and an out in 3 years. Everybody wins. He has traits most rbs don't. If he could pass block it would be a no brainer. Plus the cap goes up every year so why bicker about 3 million aav.

TRUE.

Mikie2times replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems possible or even likely we would win, but I would say that conversation shifts more to us knowing how to utilize those new assets defensively vs if Allen is being better served in doing so. I don’t have a horse in this race to be honest. I just don’t think we all of a sudden will be in a position to protect leads come playoff time because of this investment. We have had very good defenses prior with very poor playoff results. Is this investment chasing bad money with good? Does that even matter because the talent sucked so much it had to happen regardless? Just not overly confident in that side of the ball fulfilling its destiny as a playoff elite squad. I wish we could have juiced both sides a little but understood we only have so much to go around. We will see, at the very least I’m excited to see what these rookies can do and even more excited to see some actual change to our schemes (I hope). -
First things to look for when the schedule comes out

For the record, I never complained about the lack of prime time games. One of the few nice aspects of the drought was having nearly every game be Sunday 1pm Eastern. -

Thought Exercise: Best Bills QB (99-2017) who'd be JA17 backup

Bledsoe played one good half-season with us. If Josh got hurt, Bledsoe would be the guy I'd want to come in - assuming he played at the same level as the first 8 or 9 games of 2002. But as a backup, I'd want Fitz. He's a great teammate. He'd be super supportive of Josh and the entire team. He's also smart. In the QB room, and on the sidelines, he'd have some great conversations with Josh that would help elevate Josh's game. And if Fitz had to come in, he'd execute the game plan and give us a chance to win. -
