I think he’s generally hands off when it concerns the offense, but if you want to assign him blame for not picking up the headset and setting his OC straight, I couldn’t argue with it. He gives his coordinators more space than maybe he should.

They can’t make up for small lbs who can’t stay healthy and are now afraid to shoot gaps and hit and who suddenly even struggle in zone coverage. We are the worst team in missing tackles. They also can’t make up for white being done and unable to cover anyone as QBs target him. They can’t make up for Bedford suddenly playing like a 6 th round talent. They can’t make up for safety play that has been horrendous with Rapp not making any impact and bishop making horrible reads and being unable to tackle backs. The dl wasn’t the worst part of the d this year, it’s an injured small lb group , cb play who rarely get pbu’s , and safties that are just poor with communication and hitting. Good teams , especially KC , will absolutely shred this d. Who can’t see this coming ? The ped guys also can’t run routes and can’t force the oc to quit putting players in boxes and utilize the best rb in the passing game. Mcd has finally gotten two yes men as coordinators who are only allowed to do what he wants and unfortunately he is an offensive mind. He is a defensive guru supposedly yet our d 9 years into his tenure is probably the worst it has ever been. Two avg free agents aren’t going to fix this mess. Throw in beans poor drafting with d assets while ignoring weapons for Josh while smugly ridiculing critics and it’s a mess they deserve to be in. The colts and pats are playing better and that’s the reality of not infusing new talent , but bringing back guys you already cut once for deteriorating play.

Certainly. Like I said, he'll be on a snap count the first week he plays, cycling in for White. He'll get more and more the following weeks, if it seems like he's comfortable and performing well. But the idea that "Tre needs to be watching the game from the sidelines" implies taking over for him full time. That's not going to happen immediately. We're 2-3 weeks out before he starts getting some in game reps and then probably another 2-3 weeks before they entrust him with starting over White, if that happens at all. Here's hoping though.

But did he really ever master it? Had some big moments down the field against man coverage (which is something the team needs now for sure). But was kind of Coleman-like against the zone and on option routes and with identifying pressure and whatnot. Had difficulty adjusting post-snap, and was therefore super inefficient. His habit of "clapping" his hands together to let Allen's heaters clang off him was basically the WR yips. Total degradation of fundamentals.

So stopping the run means they fit the scheme? Do you even know what the scheme is and what McD wants from safeties? What's adorable is people coming up with these dumbass ideas with no understanding of how just plugging multiple guys in that have no experience in the system, scheme or training camp to get in the playbook and know their roles and reponsibilities and trying to incorporate them on the fly is somehow just simple like changing a light bulb. That GIF is exactly what you are suggesting, which is why you have been called out for the same thing by virtually every other poster in this thread. Especially for safeties which of you knew anything about how the Bills play D, safety is the hardest position and Poyer said it took him 2 years to get comfortable fully with things.

And the last two games were anyway on the offense. They ***** the bed. I doubt it. Leg injury means they are not running..which means their cardio is off; I can't seem them put him on an NFL field without the proper conditioning

I also think he’s more to blame for the struggles than most here are willing to admit, but if I had to put a percentage on it, I’d say the passing issues are 35% Joe Brady, 30% Josh Allen, 20% WRs, and 15% OL.

Regardless of whether they're Zone defenders or not, the idea that we're going to add 3 players into the lineup, halfway through the season, off the couch, and that's gonna fix things is definitive Madden thinking. That's not how the NFL works and definitely not how McDermott works. And you're just pulling "I've heard of em" names. Again, Simmons isn't the same guy. It would be like fans of another team saying "Jordan Poyer would help us at Safety!". Simmons, like Poyer, is done. He was *bad* in Atlanta last season. Age has caught up to him. There's a reason no one brought him in while Safety play has been poor for many teams. And again, Asante Samuel is recovering from SPINAL FUSION. There's a chance they look at the CT scan and say "you shouldn't play Football anymore". Even if he is cleared, I don't see anyone jumping through hoops to add a guy mid-season who has been on the couch, not so much as working out for over a year.

The goaltending, which was supposed to suck, has been stellar thanks to Lyon (2.44 GA .924 SV%) Our 2 big goal scorers, Tage and Tuch, have been pretty much MIA. Lots of differences, same results.

Fields is afraid to throw the football. You can’t play QB at any level that way. Shane Buechele is better. Maybe we can trade him to the Jets for one of their defensive players.
