At first cor. 3:9-11 and 10:4 the apostle Paul says Jesus is the rock or foundation the church is built on. Throughout the Gospels Jesus repeatedly says that none of the apostles is greater than the other. In Matthew 16 Jesus asked Peter a few versus before the ones everyone is quoting who the people were saying he, Jesus, was? Then Jesus asked the apostles who do you say I am? Peter answered "you are the Christ, the son of the living God". The conversation was based around Christ who he was, not Peter. Jesus was talking about himself being the foundation.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
ganesh replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are under estimating the play of Josh Palmer. The season will unfold. Josh Palmer ??? -
Oh, and yeah Singletary was a very good back, in 2021 and always, really. But your contention that he got really good in the last four games of 2021 because they stopped platooning him? Also doesn't make sense. He averaged 4.6 YPC for the season. And considerably less over the last four games. He was still good. But not better, platooned or not. Yes, he got more yards. But not because he was running better. He was just running more, so even though he was getting less per carry he totaled more yards. And again, the Bills got ahead in each game by mostly passing and then turned up the runs later in games to burn clock.

For those who sit in the lower bowl, where’s your ideal view?

That was close to the beginning of MTV, when they were trying to come up with ground breaking videos. So yeah, I get it. By the way, is that Aimee Mann (‘til Tuesday lead singer, singing the chorus) behind the camera?

Moore is a vertical threat. He just hasn’t frequently been used that way on the teams he has been on. It’s not that he can’t do it, https://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-jets/post/_/id/90365/is-jets-elijah-moore-the-nfls-most-ignored-wide-receiver -

Escape from Alcatraz was good, too. I haven't seen the terrorists spring Ramzi Yousef from Florence Supermax. That tells me all I need to know about how effective that place is. No need to sink a fortune into Alcatraz. -

I am not a ST holder, and I only attend about once a year. But in my random pursuit, I have enjoyed the endzone seats--lower bowl--as you get a full view of what is developing as plays unfold on the field. The negative is when the entire game seems to be played on the other end of the field. The worst for me (in many ways) was the Minnesota game in '22. All the significant action was at the other end of the field in that game. First, we were celebrating at the stop. And then, not until we saw it on the big screen did we have any idea Josh fumbled in their endzone. Ugh! -
Um, no, I'm not saying that or anything like it Maybe you could actually read my post ... then answer it? That way you could respond to things I actually said? Also didn't say "not fact based." Or anything like it. Again, maybe read and respond to what I actually said. I disagree with some of your facts. One thing you said was that the 2021 Bills changed things around by suddenly stressing the run game the last four games of the season. And as I pointed out, that wasn't true. In three out of those four games they started out stressing the pass much more than the run, got ahead that way and then ran the ball more later to run out the clock. The main problem with your post, though, is the logic. Not the facts, the logic. You claimed that whenever the Bills really stress the run game they play very well. And that this shows that they should and will re-sign James Cook even if he's overpriced. This doesn't follow. The conditional and the conclusion aren't linked. Even if the conditional is 100% factual and true, it doesn't show they should re-sign Cook even if he costs too much. Again, it’s like arguing that oranges are nutritious, healthy and good for you and that therefore you must eat THAT PARTICULAR ORANGE OVER THERE AND NO OTHER, despite the fact that that one particular orange is priced at $500 and has a black spot on it. It doesn’t follow. Even if oranges generally are good, that doesn’t show you need to eat the one orange no matter what. It just doesn’t. Same with your argument. Even if your conditional is 100% true, it doesn’t show we need to re-sign Cook no matter what. There are a ton of different ways to stress the run game. Many of them make economic sense. Such as keeping the OL together which they’ve done such a terrific job with. Or maybe drafting another 3rd round RB next year if Cook keeps insisting on $15M and running him, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson and maybe one more guy fight it out to see who gets to run behind that terrific OL. Oh, and the way you wrote made it seem like you thought I might be the real Thurman Thomas. I’m not. Just a huge Thurman fan. Thurman, by the way, was a terrific pass blocker when called on and played a ton more snaps than Cook ever has. Terrific in short yardage power situations too. I'd love to see them re-sign Cook. At a reasonable price. What he's asking for is not reasonable.

Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?
GunnerBill replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting, I think the Houston D is the opposite of physical, especially in the middle. I think it is fast and talented. They have playmakers in the secondary and their edge rushers are dangerous. I think their weakness is the middle of the Dline and the linebackers. That is where you can expose them if you can get physical. That and their offensive line are the weaknesses of that team. -

We don't need to waste time arguing about those verses. I am extremely familiar with them and the Catholic interpretation of them as establishing Peter. I am also extremely familiar with the Protestant interpretation of them as doing no such thing. In the immediately following verses from the "rock," after Jesus tells the disciples that he will go to Jerusalem, suffer and be killed, Peter rebukes him telling Jesus it can't happen. Jesus tells him "get behind me Satan, you are a hindrance to me for you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on those of man." So immediately after supposedly naming him a the primary figure he calls him out? There is absolutely no evidence that the Apostles ever viewed Peter as anything special, nor did Paul. He was not the head of the early church in Jerusalem, nor in Rome. He was a very important figure, but had no primacy. They argue about this even up to Gethsemane. There is no evidence of any "Pope" figure for hundreds of years. There is no basis for establishing Rome as the center of Christianity. There is no basis for establishing the Catholic church as an "authority." Certainly no justification for purchasing indulgences. These authority claims caused the first schism when the eastern orthodox church waved the bs flag in 1054, and the Protestant Reformation in 1517. The Catholic church claimed it was the only entity capable of interpreting the Bible, and prohibited translations into languages understood by the people. The history is exactly similar to that of the Pharisees. Traditions added on that are not scriptural. Some are counter, like the Rosary. Mary. Sainthood. The pope, (and papal history is incredibly wacky). Indulgences. Purgatory. Salvation including "works." Confession to a priest or anything else requiring an intermediary between God and his people. It goes on and on, but these man made inventions are exactly what Jesus accused the Pharisees of with their additions to Mosaic law. What Jesus alone did was completely sufficient. Nothing and nobody needs to be added. No "near Gods" need to be invented and should not be venerated. I have great regard for Catholics and other Christians, and hope they have a great conclave, but the "traditions" are man made. And by the way, to address one of your comments, we recite the Nicene Creed at every service in my Lutheran Church, just as you do. we just say "and Christian Apostolic Church," instead of "Catholic."

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
Doc Brown replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
It would be nice for the Bills to build a strong enough team where a B+ game by Allen gets them past the Chiefs. I think you can address it by re imagining your defense with some new players especially on the d-line and a minor tweak in philosophy which is why I think McDermott brought in some outside guys to his defensive staff. I agree about the lack of play makers and I doubt Palmer or Moore move the needle. However, I didn't think Mack Hollins and James Cook would step up as big as they did in the AFC Championship game last year so who knows. I'd sacrifice TJ Williams and Chase Lundt if it meant getting DK Metcalf but I digress. As far as criticism of Allen goes, if you're the highest paid player in the league you should be scrutinized as long as its fair. I couldn't care less about the fragility of the fan base. Regardless of how our defense played he still had the ball down three with a chance to win the game. The offense didn't come through either time. Allen's also 0-5 in overtime when the offense has had the ball needing a TD to win. There's room for growth. -
I doubt we go unbeaten at home again but really I don't know how anyone gets to Baltimore and Cincinnati as "losses". The way I see the home schedule is: 3 divisional games (should all be wins); 2 NFC South games (should both be wins); the Bengals game where I lean towards a win; and then we play 3 of the other teams I consider among the top five in the NFL - Bills, Chiefs, Lions, Eagles, Ravens - and those three games against the Chiefs, Eagles and Ravens are toss ups. But what would surprise me is if the Bills lost all those toss up games. That just hasn't happened in the Allen era. They will find a way to win at least one of those three games. And their road schedule I think they have a genuine chance to go 8-0. I think this is one of the Bills better #1 seed opportunities of recent years.

Better not be a Christmas Day game, I’m already shocked when the kids open all the presents from Santa and I get socks and underwear. The last thing I need is a nerve racking bills game to go with it.
