I am counting on Beane not being dumb enough to jettison his most dynamic offensive weapon, the Bills only elite offensive weapon, and the fastest, most elusive player on the roster--and right before a season with such high expectations. I am betting on the first option, to end this nonsense now. Something like: 13, 14, 15 with most of it guaranteed, locking up the biggest offensive threat for 3 years for under 45 million. Should be a tremendous bargain by the end of this season. Soon!

I, for one, feel bad for the kid. Imagine all the work he put in, he finally gets to the NFL, and his body lets him down. Hopefully he has a degree to fall back on. Good luck Braylon.

Education in America
The Frankish Reich replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I was walking out of court recently watching a father berate his son (apparently the kid just took a plea to a minor offense) about getting his life together. The kid was maybe 20. Obviously not in college, not doing anything useful. Dad: You live at home with me for a few years. You start working at UPS. You get your CDL. You'll be able to put away $20K a year with no living expenses. By the time you're 25 you'll have a down payment for a house and you'll be set up for a good life. (I got the sense that the dad had done something like this himself.) Kid wasn't really listening. I like the idea of tracking/vocational training as long as we leave a route open for the late bloomers. The 14 year old kid tracked into more vocational training who still gets a diploma and later can restart at community college, etc, if he wants to be a teacher or an accountant or something that isn't a traditional trade. -
There's very few people I've heard from that doesn't like Liev Schreiber's voice as the narrator. Would you prefer Maddy Glab?

I was at that game. Wore my raincoat in my Dads car

If it basically does nothing, then the players don't need it. Personally, I think it is a bad look having players on the sideline sniffing salts all game long and littering the ground with those packages. Just go play football. They literally have oxygen masks on the sidelines for players. They don't need salts for the oxygen boost.

I Googled this on my work computer and HR just set an unplanned meeting with me. Earlier I Googled Hard Knocks but made a rather embarrassing typo on the second word. Anyways my HR rep must be a fan of the show. I'll let you know how the meeting goes.

The obligatory “This narrator/announcer/talk show host sucks” take

Outstanding work.

I think the strategy behind the narrator is to have the players and coaches be the stars. The narrator is there to fill in the blanks. You can like it or not (I'm kinda "meh"), but I think that is the reasoning behind the style.

I have to confess I didn't make it through that first episode. Really boring TV. But from a football standpoint, boring is good! Good team, no big controversies, entering another season with the expectation of winning and maybe getting over the hump. Good, but ... boring.

Yeah, I would have took it. I siphoned off everything I could for…..what was it Rick James said?

Training with a python seems correct for dealing with how the KC OL "blocks"

I disagree. Liev Schrieber does a nice job...and actually has done narration for the History channel as well.

I will start with the concept of " profiteering" I just found out that the GEO dept at my school will average 170-180 kids per teacher and the lower schools will average under 120, some apparently under 100. I don't get paid more then those teachers so as long as it parents choice I am not going to worry too much about it because a poor performing charter only survived for a short period while the Chicago schools have been terrible for 50 years. As for the second part I think you are correct, we spend too much time on kids who just want to be shelf stocker at Publix, which is not something that should be shamed. We are starting to do a good job with the Trades in OCPS, and many of my "average" students see a 10k investment for a $80k salary as a good deal. Separate the college bound from non college interested at about age 14 based on their desire. Too much Federal money is based on graduation rate, which for my school was around 99%, and it should never top about 92% if you have a real standard.

No. Prices skyrocketed, people started seeking out alternatives. I have a niece who just went to Vegas with her boyfriend. Mid-20s. They were legitimately shocked by the prices for everything. Didn't enjoy the experience at all. Won't be going back anytime soon. My take: Vegas casinos got greedy with the post-pandemic rush to get out and do things. That's now worn off. And going back to bargain-style vacations probably isn't an option since the unions have also cashed in, raising the baseline salary for everyone. Gen Z has a lot of kids who are more lifestyle conservative. They don't want to waste money. We should applaud that!

That narrator, he belongs on an animal planet documentary, almost as bad as Collinsworth. Hire Mike Rowe or really anyone with some voice inflection please.
