Game week thread - Saints at Bills
Miyagi-Do Karate replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a weird way, I dislike the saints. When we were in the drought, they would basically sign every free agent out there and kick their cap obligations way down the road. I remember feeling particularly annoyed when they signed Jairus Byrd. well, after years of financial irresponsibility, the chickens have come home to roost. I will be glad to absolutely stomp these guys. -
Probably not going to be many "real tests" for the Bills this year. Looking at the schedule, we only face three legitimate playoff teams the rest of the season. Chiefs, Bucs, Eagles. I would have put the Bengals there until they lost Joe Burrow for basically the season. A couple teams are decent enough to possibly push for an upset. Texans, Steelers. Divisional games can be tough sometimes, so there's that. My biggest worry about the Bills this year is they FINALLY get the #1 seed, but then march into the playoffs overconfident without being pushed enough during the year. My second biggest worry is that we get the Bye and then still have to play the Chiefs or Ravens in the Divisional Round.

There was a lot of debate that year about weather Simpson or Keyes should go first in the draft. Keyes was a two-way star, and teams were talking about whether he could play both sides of the ball, and if not, where was he best suited. Second, last game of the season, the Bills were at the Raiders and driving for the touchdown that would win the game and cost the Bills the number one pick overall. Ed Rutkowski was the quarterback by that time of the season. Down around the 5-yard line with little time left on the clock Rutkowski rolled right and fumbled. The Raiders recovered, the Bills lost and lost again the next week. That's how OJ ended up in Buffalo.

Does truth exist??
Joe Ferguson forever replied to Joe Ferguson forever's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
so the rest was all distraction... and explain the (sic): evoke /ĭ-vōk′/ transitive verb To give rise to; draw forth; produce. "words that evoked a smile; actions that evoked mistrust." To call to mind, as by suggestion, association, or reference. "songs that evoke old memories; a speech that evoked the words of Jefferson." To create anew, especially by means of the imagination. "a novel that accurately evokes the Depression." The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition • More at Wordnik It's not questionable. It, by definition, is true. Perhaps I should also post the definition of "definition" and then you can keep going round in circles. But thank for proving, that a least for some magas here, truth is not important. all hat, no cattle -

Ravens at Chiefs - who do you want to have their third loss?

It’s not merely questionable, it’s deliberately absurd.

Tua gets the bag - $53M a year
RobbRiddick replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, the cash thing is the deal breaker. I do like Tua, he seems like a really nice guy and he does get a lot of crap thrown at him. But when you consider the insane amount of money he's making for being very average you realize he doesn't really need sympathy as he's laughing all the way to the bank. There was a conversation in the gameday thread last week about QBs like Tua and Lawrence getting crazy money for what they actually give you, and whether teams will be a bit more resistant to signing these guys to huge paydays. I find the whole franchise QB thing fascinating anyway. there are so few truly great QBs in the league. Then you have guys who come in, have one good season and get talked about like they're top tier (Stroud for example) only to hit a wall and start to regress. I guess teams feel like they have no choice than to pay lots of money for average. We're so lucky we got Josh Allen. -

This feels like a pre-season game. Obviously, we have to win, but I feel zero concern over it. I'd like a big lead, then sit Allen and key starters and let the rookies get some reps.

Rocbillsfan1 replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it makes more sense to bury the chiefs. It could be possible they don’t even make the playoffs. If they win I think that’s a sign they could still compete for a title. Baltimore is making the playoffs no matter what happens this week. They are a much stronger team. -

More picks gives you more chances. 8 picks and no 1st's in a 2 year stretch is brutal, missing on 7/8 just makes it worse. The dolphins 2024 draft didn't produce much, and they used their 1st on another edge rusher despite having 2 high paid guys in chubb and phillips. -

I was thinking of how differently the owner of the Bills and the dolphins feel after giving their QB’s these mega contracts. jesus what a different return on investment. -
The Bills' evil genius who ran the team to maximize profits, Russ Brandon, was fired shortly after the 2018 draft, and Pegula turned the team over to Brandon Beane. IMO, that action enabled the Bills to develop Allen into a great QB because then Beane had the power to change the team's focus from maximizing profits to winning football games. Ryan Fitzpatrick was sent packing in 2017 because Brandon didn't want to pay him. Tyrod Taylor was sent packing because the Bills' plan was always to eventually have Allen start some time in his rookie season. I thought that another veteran QB, maybe AJ McCarron, was in the 2018 training camp, but I think he got hurt and was eventually cut. I think that "the plan" for Allen was always to start JA some time in his rookie season, but Peterman was so bad that it was probably much sooner than the Bills intended. Later in 2018, the Bills added Derek Anderson and Matt Barkley as backups. Immediately after the 2018 season, the entire offensive staff except for OC Brian Daboll, was fired. Among the new offensive coaches was Ken Dorsey, the first "QB coach" the Bills ever had who had experience developing an NFL QB (Cam Newton). In 2019, the Bills kept Matt Barkley as backup QB, added veteran WRs Cole Beasley and John Brown as well as veteran C Mitch Morse. They also drafted TE Dawson Knox in the 2019 draft. IOW, the Bills brought in real mentors for Allen, they gave him better targets, and they improved his protection. They did, in fact, intentionally help Allen develop his talents, JA was dedicated enough to work tirelessly at his craft, and, as the saying goes, the rest is history.

True. But when I can legally obtain something, the use of the word banned is questionable. .

Complimentary football. This is what the media was clamoring for with Daboll and Dorsey. Brady got the job done (along with the great OL, TE’s and RBs.
