Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season Game 2
LABILLBACKER replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Hoping Shenault and Shavers make this team. I'll have to trust the staff to decide what to do with Moore and Samuel? Also love to see Wilkerson make the PS. -
DHop was elite longer than Diggs, was better than Diggs and is probably a first ballot HoFer. I thought the question was if Diggs was good. Not if he was the undisputed best WR over the last 12 years.

If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...

....and there's your winning answer... -
Dude, you sound a little touchy. You stand on a street corner shouting your belief and someone tosses an insult at your friend who has a life. And you're still POed about it 3 days later? Follow your friends advice that has a life and drop it. Comes with the territory if you're protesting. At the protests I go to we've had a few horn honkers and tire squealers and we laugh it off. It's funny. To each his own, but you do you.

Diggs: 3 receptions, 7 yards, 5 yard long. Maybe he should have played defense that game.

Hopkins was doing 1500 w Tom Savage and Brian Hoyer
-
He was elite against some teams...until the playoffs the last few years in Buffalo. He would disappear in big games as in his last game in 2023 against the Chiefs. Diggs had 8 targets for 3 receptions for 21 yards and a fumble. The Chiefs had their best CB on him for the first half of that game and then moved him to cover Shakir in the second half. Shakir had 9 targets for 7 receptions for 44 yards, 1 TD. That one touchdown by Shakir in the second half was the ONLY touchdown of the entire season allowed by KC CB L'Jarius Sneed. Diggs was good until he wasn't...and a drama queen. He will probably look good at the beginning of the season for NE and then drop off as the season goes on.
-
Stop. I know his exit was bad. And that Bills fans dislike him bc of it. But he was great before his last year with the team. And he was great with us for the first half of that season. Even in Houston last season, he was on pace for a 1125 yard season had he not gone down after 7.5 games. Of course his numbers with Josh were better than with Teddy Bridgewater, Sam Bradford, Case Keenum, and Kirk Cousins. Josh is a much better Quarterback than all of them. And it took a couple years before he became who he became in Minnesota and he missed over half the year last season. Again, I get he's not well liked and for good reason. But discounting how great he was with us for 3 and a half years and how great he was before late 2023 is ridiculous. He was quite possibly the best WR to ever lineup for the Bills and the smoothest route runner I've probably ever seen.
-
Randy Moss actually was the goat tho
-
Is there a wide receiver whose numbers don’t get better with a great QB? Allen had an MVP type season because he individually played incredible despite his weapons, with the loss of Diggs, being much worse. Diggs was putting up 1000 yard seasons with Case Keenum at QB. He was a great player.
-
I agree. It's still early, but one season plus most of a second off season and preseason is enough to form an opinion. Keon looks improved but he's going to take time to learn all the nuances one needs to win without speed. Bishop and Carter are behind the eight ball. Ray Davis is ok. SVPG is TBD. Ulofoshio looks like a bust. Solomon struggles vs. the run and isn't getting as much pressure as one would hope for a one trick pony. Grable is super interesting but hurt. I like our 2025 class much better, or at least have more hope.

This is worse than drought era hot takes
Mike in Horseheads replied to Steve Billieve's topic in The Stadium Wall
Speaking of hot takes on Hard Knocks, watch all the bitchin about them not showing the Bears game on tomorrows show. People here think they don't need any time to put a one hour show together from a week of film -
Thankfully, the Bills had to play 2nd and 3rd stringers to look that bad.....in the drought-era that would be how the 1st stringers would've looked!! After the 6+ years of success the Bills have enjoyed, I had almost forgot what a bad Bills team looked like. That game was a not so subtle reminder of how good we Bills fans have it right now!! It reminded me to enjoy the ride, and not ever take for granted how good it is to have a top-tier team to root for!! Go Bills!!!!!

Satire requires accuracy Hamlin is not a starting safety. Rapp and Bishop are. He is not even the 3rd safety, that is Cam Lewis. -
How good was Randy Moss? Well he had one season over 1300 yards with Brady, and 5 season over 1300 yards with Duante Culpepper. So I guess the real question is who is really the GOAT? Looks like Culpepper is much better than Brady and Allen. Wow I didnt know Diggs played defense too? Who was he covering with 13 seconds left to play?
-
He was a top-five regular-season wide receiver. Give the man his due. The numbers don't lie.
-
He disappeared in the Playoffs...If he would have dominated in the playoffs we would have won the SB a couple of times during his tenure.

Want a fun read - go read the ridiculous hot takes about Hard Knocks in the original thread this spring on the announcement. -
How do you know Beane could have traded up to get DeJean? How do you know he will be end up being better than Bishop?
-
No worries, I get it, I know what the OP was asking. My response is that IMHO the game tape on Diggs says and shows how talented he was. Talent and fit are very different things, and while Diggs had immense talent (still some of the best feet and routes I have ever seen), his personality clashed with the vibe of this locker room and wore down the relationship. And it was magnified by Brady's offense going away "featuring" a target which also allowed Josh to play less reckless and minimize mistakes by getting rid of those forced error turnovers. As far as the MVP goes, not having Diggs (or Davis) helped his case for the MVP because Burrow and Lamar had better stats, but Allen had a better record while working with less weapons around him.

Early returns on 2024 Draft is awful
Delete_Delete_Delete replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Groot is solid, but no OC’s are game planning for him like a top tier DE, but I’d give him a B. James Cook is legit… After that, excluding Josh, his resume for the first few rounds is less than stellar. Edmunds Oliver, who given his top 10 draft status has underperformed. Elam Kincaid who is running the risk of venturing into bust category without a breakout year AJ Mehpenesa Cody Ford Boogie Basham That’s a lot of high end draft capital, and as the OP mentioned, last years class isn’t look so hot at this point. You’d like to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this teams track record of developing its day 1/2 picks doesn’t leave me feeling to optimistic for Carter or Bishop, I still think Keon can contribute, but would’ve rather had Worthy, Ladd or traded up for BTJ, Coleman was not a guy I was keen on but I can think Josh can get the most out of him.
