Pegula Divests from Knight Hawks after pulling out of Rochester Lease
Mango replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall
That's fair. I do think the region can support the Sabres through 5-ish terrible years. But they're not equipped to support them through the worst draught in NHL history. Which is about 3x of what I think the region is capable of. That said, I'm not sure how many regions would support this run. It's never happened before. If the Sabres were the 8th best team in the conference for 14 years they'd still be top 10 in attendance instead of bottom 5. -
As if hockey season isn't long enough. The league is now looking at an 84-game regular season. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/nhl-considering-84-game-season-in-cba-negotiations-per-report/ar-AA1HqOWE

I don’t know why folks say that Buffalo has never won a championship, I won our beer league last year. I think it’s not a stretch to say that the Buffalo region isn’t financially prepared to support the Sabres if they are terrible. Habs are clearly a much better franchise but even at 3 straight bottom of the conference finishes, they led the league in attendance in 23-24. -

You are the one with the bias. Even Trump and Hegseth are doubting--until they aren't--the damage done. You don't know, I don't know, Washington doesn't know exactly what damage was done or not. Satellites can't see underground Even with all that, Obama pushed the timeline out 15 years, this bombing, at best, only a few years. Trump should have stayed in the deal. -

I honestly can't understand the absurd levels you will crawl to in order to throw doubt strictly, and obviously, because of political bias. To this situation, when I read your posts on these matters I often conclude you are stuck in a twenty or more year knowledge gap. Everybody knew about this site, what it was for, how it was constructed and how best to attack it. We have satellite and many, many other sources to firmly establish these things that are way more capable than they used to be. They weren't "tricked" and they delivered the weapons exactly where intended. Fabulous press conference by the way. Glad I got to watch the entire thing. Late entry regarding the press conference. As if the media can look more stupid, that insane suggestion of sexual bias was as stupid as humanly imaginable. Whoever is signing her checks should stop them. -

When Pegula bought the team the Sabres were averaging 99% attendance. They were near the top of the league for capacity for arenas without standing room only (who break 100%) and top 10 overall. The Bills and Sabres regularly sold out during the Bills draught. Anybody saying the Sabres suck because of the region can't have two teams is just making excuses. The day Terry Pegula bought the team the Sabres total P% was 4th in the league. They were easily the best franchise to never win a cup. They've plummeted to 14th. To give anybody an idea of how deep that hole is. If you took Scotty Bowman's best 10 single years coaching, and linked them back to back to back, the Sabres still would not get back the 4th overall. Think about that. A decade of the very best years from the very best coach could not get Buffalo back to where they were pre-Pegula. This franchise is historically bad. -

Buffalo, IMO is overrated as a hockey market. We puff out our chests for the "ratings", but the fact is, if me, my uncle Ron, and grandma watch an NHL playoff game, it moves the ratings needle. In LA, they could have a fraction of the rating, yet, many more eyeballs on the screen. People do not really support anything besides the Sabres. We have 2 D1 teams where about 100 people attend. The Sabres have managed to erode their fan base and have not resonated at all with a whole generation of fans (perhaps anyone under 20 years old at this point). Also, sadly for us, the NHL is increasingly moving away from needing the grassroots fans, butts in the seats, anyone to watch at all.... to a large market, corporate behemoth. Franchises are north of $1 Billion. We are getting ads everywhere. Virtual ads, ads on uniforms, increasing amount of revenue suites and premium tickets. Buffalo and Lloyds Tacos cant keep up with Verizon and Walmart. Travelling around for youth hockey is eye-opening. The facilities and organizations I have seen and experienced out of Buffalo are top-class and growing. The rinks put ours to shame. The organizations are better. There are less politics and BS... better coaching, and better players are being produced. A lot of this locally trickles down from the Jr Sabres (another Pegula operation) which is a joke and his little sycophants have their hands all over that as well. Pittsburgh, Chicago, Boston, LA, Philadelphia, and Columbus all have a better and more thriving youth and amateur hockey scene. Cross the border and it is night/day as well. -
UPDATE: ISRAEL v IRAN - Ceasefire reached?

I expect years of satellite imagery of personnel and vehicles moving in and around the facilities have provided a good deal of information on the specific coordinates of the facilities. Combine that with eyes on the ground thought to be providing intelligence. Add electronic eavesdropping and "pinging" cell phone coordinates of known participants in the program. Maybe even debriefings of U.N. inspectors as suspected by the Iranians? I would expect all that and other intelligence produced the high degree of confidence about the targets that was necessary to green light the mission. As for deception in war, absolutely. There's good reason it's said "the first casualty of war is the truth". -

Obama's deal had no nuke for Iran for 15 years. This bombing, if successful, only pushes it back a few years. Should have stayed with Obama's excellent deal -

McDermott not in Top 10 of NFL coaches per PFF.
FireChans replied to 14774's topic in The Stadium Wall
That’s a good way to phrase it. Coaches I would trade for McD straight up: Reid McVay Shanny Campbell KOC LaFleur Payton I’m actually kinda lower on Harbaugh and Tomlin than others, they are right in McDs class imo. To me, the guys I listed above have elevated their teams beyond their QB. You could argue that Tomlin has, and you’d have a point, but I think he’s more of a floor raiser than a ceiling raiser. Sirianni is the perfect example of why saying “McD is great because he has a great winning percentage” is invalid. He has the best winning percentage in football currently, without one of the very best QBs, and we all agree he isn’t close to the best coach in football. -
Cinci has a bad reputation w signing their players. I think they did overpay Tee Higgins who is a good but certainly not great WR. I would have given the money to Hendrickson instead. As for the Saints, they were always good w Brees and Payton. Their front offense never got much press as it really should be. I have no idea if Shough will be good or not as a pro. I watch a lot of college football. But I know the teams more than the players because I like to bet on college games. I know Louisville always can score a lot and give up a lot of points. The Louisville-Miami game last year was one of the most entertaining of the season. it’s the slow time of the sports year. I guess something needs to be talked about in the 24/7/365 football world.

I think the opposite too, though barring one really lax fumble though Lamar wasn't the reason the Ravens lost the most recent playoff game. The first time we beat them in the playoffs, even in weather and in a low scorer I thought on the night the Bills had a clear QB advantage. I thought it was closer this last time. Lamar was the reason the Ravens were in it at the end. John Harbaugh is one of three coaches I'd immediately trade McDermott for straight up. Reid. McVay. John Harbaugh. There is then a small batch of coaches that I wouldn't trade McDermott for but that I also wouldn't trade the other way if I was the GM of the other team: Payton, Shanahan, O'Connell and probably Dan Campbell. Everyone else it is a simple choice for me. Sirianni is probably the most controversial here as he just won a Superbowl but what the last three years tells us is he is as good as his coordinators. Steichen and Gannon = makes Superbowl; Johnson and Desai = step back; Fangio and Moore = wins Superbowl. And Roseman hired Fangio and Moore last offseason so he doesn't even get credit for the hires. I think Howie is a way big factor in their success. -

@JDHillFan What are you rolling your eyes at? Military missions are gambles, maybe they work, maybe they don't. In 1999 Yugoslav forces tricked NATO into bombing fake targets. Deception is a major part of war -

Bob Kraft has by and large been a good NFL owner and has run a stable organization for two decades. Even pre-Brady, Kraft has been in the SB. They may be sticking a bit to get grounded, but he gets a little extra rope because, well, he hasn't had the worst run as an owner in the history of the NHL. The Pegula Sabres are arguably one of the worst runs by an owner in all of sports ownership history. No dude, they are totally the same. John Tavares, the current HC, and maybe the greatest NLL player ever, is currently a HS math teacher in Mississauga as well. So yeah, NHL, NFL, NLL. Tomato Tomato. And again, Pegula has never been to one single Bandits Championship game. -
