He does appear to be in over his head. However, hope he can find a way to beat the Pats*

This - Shakir caught the ball and it was not taken away until after he was on the ground. Add to that the defender had his back to the play and he ran into Shakir. In the end what’s lost in all of this is the amazing play that Shakir made.

Holding can be called on every NFL play. Refs decide when to call them. Call a hard to see one? Call the obvious one? Don’t call either? Once a team is flagged as a “holding team”, refs tend to look for it with those teams. Just look at our return game holding calls! No way we are holding that much more than any other team.

I actually am on board with this scenario especially if they go to 18 games, which appears likely. You could do it a couple of different ways. Eliminating AFC/NFC regular season. Bills play the other 15 AFC teams once and to preserve rivalries you could play 3 AFC teams twice. Or you could do 15 AFC teams once and rotate 3 NFC teams every year. This would cut down on strength of schedule issues significantly but I don’t know if they would do it because it might cost them TV matchups.

I like your thought, here is what I would propose for a rule change (Playoff seeding): The winner of each division will host a playoff game, UNLESS, the following occurs: 1. Division winner's record is 2 or more games worse than the #7 seed in their conference (ie: #7 seed record is 10-7, the division winner would have to have 8 or fewer wins) 2. If #1 occurs and this team played the 5 seed AND they lost, then this team would switch seeding with the 5 seed (ie: Division winner becomes the 5 seed, and 5 seed becomes the 4 seed) - if the 4 and 5 seed did NOT play head-to-head, then just rule #1 applies To me, this would only occur when a team likely finishes below .500 (but this year might different). Also, it gives the division winner another option to stay as the 4 seed if they beat the 5 seed head-to-head. In a year like this season, no way does a team like Baltimore or Pittsburgh deserve to host a playoff game. Highly likely that division winner finishes with 9 wins tops. This proposed rule change would also create more competition in week 18 --- ie: currently teams locked into the 4 or 5 seed have nothing to play for.

I don’t know where i stand with Joe Brady

I think that pretty much sums it up Gunner. And don't forget Shavers, Samuel and Moore. Samuel has been injured pretty much his entire tenure w the Bills. And I don't think we have a clue how to use either Shavers or Moore. Neither is very good by any metric. But I think we have seen glimpses of Shavers making plays. And he blocks well. And Moore put up some solid numbers on two bad teams for 4 years before signing w us. The WR situation is a big time cluster. Hopefully it gets sorted out big time this offseason. We need to bring in two studs to pair w Shakir. And figure out the rest from there. -
Game week thread - Bills at Browns
The Frankish Reich replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bears D does a little victory dance: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/shedeur-sanders-news-browns-bears-rookie-qb/ And of course the coach chimes in: Two of Sanders' three giveaways came in the third quarter, the second on a well-placed end zone toss to Jerry Jeudy, who had the football wrestled away by Jaylon Johnson. The pass hit Jeudy in the chest, but he couldn't hold on. "You get what you emphasize," Johnson said. "Every day we emphasize the ball." Chicago scored 17 points off of Sanders' second-half mistakes. Am I the only one who thought Dillon Gabriel showed some promise? I can't quite understand why they've given up on him in favor of Sanders, but good for us I guess. -

Debate Over: Drake Maye can’t hold Josh Allen’s jockstrap
Einstein replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
1) You said Maye is a better passer. That is the #1 job of a QB. To pass the ball! So in what way (in your mind) makes Allen better? His running? In your mind Maye is better at the #1 job Qb’s have but Allen beats him in running. Is that it? 2) No, Maye has not been better than Josh this season. Not even remotely. Not even close. Not in any universe. Maye has been asked to do very limited things. He is a slightly elevated game manager who has had some nice passes. He is not the MVP of the league (which Josh SHOULD but won’t win this year too). The Patriots forum is littered with posts from fans extremely concerned that Maye has performed poorly in every big moment that they have had this year. Meaning, they are saying that he has played well in games if the Patriots are in control. But as soon as the Patriots don’t have the lead, or as soon as they need a two minute drive, he fails. -

Success replied to Einstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is why the coronation of Maye is very premature. It's not a huge sample size - but when the Pats have needed him to step up in the 4th quarter when they're trailing, he has underwhelmed. He had a few games last year where he threw a game-ending pick in those situations, and the difference between his 1st and 2nd half play yesterday was night & day. He has yet to lead a 4th quarter comeback. No one doubts his skills. But many QB's who have had good or great skills don't pan out because they can't handle the mental/pressure aspect of the game. That's what separates the greats. I wouldn't conclude yet that Maye doesn't have that, but he hasn't shown it to this point. -
McDermott still in over his head
BuffaloBill replied to vtnatefootball11's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am not defending McDermott as he should have challenged it. However what’s with the league having very inconsistent replay assist? If there is assist from NY it should be applied evenly and consistently, not randomly. Wait until the current inconsistency blows a Las Vegas line and signicantg money is lost by Vegas. There will be a sudden change, mark it. -
I haven't read the whole thread so this was probably pointed out earlier. The real culprit on the no challenge is whoever decided that replay assist wasn't going to be used in that instance, when it absolutely should have. The uneven application of the rules, even from the nebulous sky judges in the NFL, is a major issue. I don't really blame McDermott as much as I blame the NFL for its uneven use of technology to officiate games.

I agree it’s a stupid rule but pats fans are kinda fighting two battles on this one…complaining about a dpi on a pretty obvious catch is wild to me. Absolute chump move as a fanbase and the players/coaches are getting involved also

I don’t know where i stand with Joe Brady
Pete replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
Brady is so predictable. If Cook has a good run on first down, he always gets a call on second down. Texans games he called the same stupid mesh plays he calls all year. Mesh works ok in the right situation, but take a long time to develop. When Texans are getting to Josh in under 2 seconds, throw the mesh plays out of the window, and draw up smarter plays like it’s your job. Which it is, and you are obviously over your head -
I think the rule is ok as it stands. However for a change, I would consider division winners are based SOLELY upon the 6 games within the division. Then the wildcard teams goes on the total WL record, or maybe the record in non division games or something, not sure.

If that was reversed we would have 50 page thread going.

hondo in seattle replied to ChronicAndKnuckles's topic in The Stadium Wall
I share your concerns for many of the same reasons. Brady puts up a lot of points. On the other hand, with Josh under center, we should have a better downfield passing game even with our current wideouts. My solution would be to add a good passing game coordinator or consultant to the staff next year to help scheme a better passing game. And give Brady better weapons for Josh, of course. -
For as big a viewership draw of a team as the bills are they really don’t get very good whistles overall. That clown vrabel is complaining they didn’t call much OL holding on us when we have had probably historically low OL holding called on our opponent for years now

Hanging on to this one as somehow being validating seems desperate to me.
