Cook is very dynamic with the ball in his hands, and has consistently improved in his career. That being said, you can't just say "Pay the man" without acknowledging that "the man's" publicly stated AAV expectations ($15-20M) are unrealistic and would be unwise for the Bills to agree to. I think Cook's running style mirrors his public personality in that it looks too relaxed and loose to be taken seriously by many observers. That dude is so much faster than he looks, in part because of how loose, and low, and forward-leaning his stride and posture are. He destroys angles and makes the field look a lot bigger than it is at times. All while seeming to glide about. Compare it to Pacheco, who is a tight, explosive spaz as soon as he gets the ball. High knees and chugging arms and head. That dude looks like he's doing more than he is, whereas Cook looks like he's doing a LOT less than he is.

First time we went to Florida as HS Seniors we played a lot of Beach Boys on that trip. Also saw them at the Broome County arena in that time. RIP Brian

I haven't even heard Dorian Strong's name since rookie minicamp. The reports on Hairston are that he's been getting better and better with each practice and has been mixing in with the 1s. It's nothing like Elam/Benford where early on they were clearly in a competition against each other. I'll be shocked if Hairston isn't the week 1 starter. If it's not him it will be White. Strong is fighting against Dane Jackson to make the roster.

Yeah, me too. Rasul over all three of these guys. But maybe not by a whole ton.

Trump and Elon played this so beautifully. Tremendous theater. And top 3 day all time on Twitter. Which as you can see by that commie thug Matt Yglrayyysius tweet, shows why X must be protected at all costs.

He short. Really short.

You can't win MVP throwing 18 interceptions and single handily lose a game with stupid decisions like Josh did against the Jets in 2023 on McDermott's favorite date. I would've given the MVP to McCaffrey that year because nobody really stood out amongst QB's. Lamar was the best QB that year though imo as he did best when the lights were brightest and was the main catalyst of propelling them to the one seed. Prescott and Purdy I could've make the argument for though based off raw stats.

I'm certainly glad he cleanly fielded a ball that rolled right to him, but there is probably a reason he had that many tackles. I think if you rewatched film of that game, you'd probably see that he genuinely had a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day in coverage.

The poster above you (and below this) has a believable theory on that juxtaposition. Also, Allen was working with a lesser supporting cast. The expectation was for significant regression, and instead the offense improved.

I wasn’t aware that the defensive coach on the Pacers is (drum roll please)……a woman! Jenny Boucek. Great article about her on the ESPN NBA site.

My point was that it’s easier to find a rookie running back that can be a top ten performer than an offensive lineman that can play that well as a rookie. Offensive linemen usually don’t hit their stride till year three or four unless they’re a top ten pick. Generally it makes more sense to keep a high performing veteran o-line together if you can. We will see what happens. Beane could let Cook hit FA after the season or sign him before training camp. 🤷♂️. I’m not going to be upset either way, as the business is the business and a healthy upright JA17 is what matters most.

It’s still interesting that Josh had a better statistical year than Lamar in 2023 but Jackson got it. Then, Jackson had a better statisticali year in 2024 but Josh got MVP.

In a nutshell (IMO), Josh deserved to win it in 2023 and was robbed... so last year was the makeup call.

Bengals bungling things up - new rookie contract clause
Thurman#1 replied to The Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Even in this case, if I'm a player and everyone else in the league doesn't have to deal with that clause, but I'm expected to, I'm not signing. It doesn't happen often, but people are convicted unfairly. I wouldn't, as a player, ask for more surety than most get, but I also wouldn't accept less. Yup, this. And agreements need both sides to come together. -
U.S. - China agree on framework of trade deal
Big Blitz replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It’s largely about the rare earths. I’ve been trying my best all day to work thru the details for you that aren’t really public yet. But it appears we are trying to position ourselves to not be held hostage by China’s CURRENT dominance on REE. But that’s changing. China has a lot to lose here to, as other countries begin to enter the market. This is the best source I’ve found on that and how over the last 20 years China has repeatedly used their dominance of REE to wield as a hammer: https://chinapower.csis.org/china-rare-earths/#:~:text=Terbium%2C which is significantly more, sonar systems and television screens. This is a big deal: I’m reading this as China knows the U.S. can begin to get the REE elsewhere - over the next 1, 5, 10 years this will happen. China has leverage now but in the long run they are going to lose it. Plus, we’re keeping the tariffs on Chinese goods. This is good for American companies and jobs. More: -
It definitely takes a full team to succeed, josh had a season with minimal sacks and INTS, in part because of the success of Cook. We were more of a ball control team last season, much more balanced but still dangerous. I'm not worried about the cap. We extended key players with good contracts, the cap always goes up significantly, contracts fall off every year, Daquan Jones, regretfully Milano, AJ, Bosa, all go away next season. We drafted a lot of defense this year to replace veterans with rookie contracts. We can afford Cook if they want to.

Can confirm.

I think injuries and age caught up to him. Seems like he didn't have game status but showed up on injury report for his knee during the season, then he injured his back and missed 2 1/2 games near the end of the season. That said, he had 6 tackles and clinched the Ravens playoff win with an onside kick recovery, so there is some ingratitude here. But yeah, Douglas may have looked washed, but so did Tre White and Jackson. White and Douglas were both better players in their day, but...

The personnel is a MVP QB, a top 5 offensive line, and an excellent OC…. which is exactly what Aaron Jones benefited in his 16 TD season. The part of Beane’s job that is difficult is deciding if it’s worth paying Cook if that means losing McGovern, Torrence, etc in the next few years. The way the league has turned it honestly seems to be easier to find a “starting caliber” rb than an above average lineman now, especially on a cost controlled rookie deal. Cook is a heck of a weapon, but the math might not math with Allen making $55 mil now.
