Yes, I am of the position that we cannot get a Lombardi as a WC and therefore anything from getting beaten in a Superbowl (which just means that you're the best loser) to missing a playoff spot is the same thing. You may as well reset and go again. An overhaul is essential.

beane gets fired and you are the new gm

Remaining Schedule, how will this play out?

Weather could be a big issue and that Bengal's D is historically bad making the Bills D look like the 1985 Bears. With the game being in Buffalo if it gets into a shoot out it will resemble the Tampa Bay game with the Bills coming out on top. -
Division is out at this point…have to do it as a wildcard

I can understand frustration but to actively root against making the playoffs is wild. Yes some of the earlier season aspirations are almost out the window but I want them in the mix. 5 days ago Josh had a historic performance and he is capable of a game like that at any given moment. Every defense we face is not gonna be a #1 ranked defense. Winning in the NFL is difficult. There's 6 games left. They could easily get into a groove in that timeframe and walk into the playoffs with all the momentum on their side. -

it's that it is true for every team, i mean it is true, but the point here is that we only lose when we turn the ball over. we only lose to lesser teams when we are on the road and turn the ball over. there is a thin margin between good and bad teams in the nfl, and we have 17 and the oline and 4 and so on. maybe we lose a game here or there, it's inevitable, but even with the terrible run d, and the injuries and the sacks and all of that, if we ran the ball more and more smartly and were less predictable based on formation and passed more to tes and rbs (lower risk, less turnovers) we have 10 ways to beat all the teams who beat us. basically, even with the holes we have, if we just correct the process on the road and do a few things to turn the ball over less (which we did last season, when our roster was objectively worse than this year imo) then we are in like flynn

Well the ongoing saga with Coleman, the handling of Elam publicly last year, it makes me think that if the curtain is pulled tightly but somehow the dysfunction is still visible, it's a circus. You had Beane going on the radio in the offseason and having a childish meltdown because he was (correctly) criticized for not trying to get a weapon or two for his MVP quarterback. I've worked enough in corporate America to know this alleged "professionalism" is simply a large marketing department and PR team keeping the wraps on things.

I feel like for some of these guys, (shakir and groot in particular) they could do better in a different system than what we ask them do now (blaming coaching here for not living up to contract, though they are not terribly off) Cook was good. The rest are trash. Bernard due to being an undersized lb was supposed to have speed, yet now he looks to be running like he is stuck in mud, leaving him to guess and when he is wrong it hurts. Benford, I dont know what happened (His head had a long time to clear up from the end of last season), but he is not even remotely the same player as he was last year

Remaining Schedule, how will this play out?
CincyBillsFan replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm not ruling out that the Bills go on a roll as most of their upcoming games are either favorable match ups from a talent aspect - the Steelers & Bengal's may have the worst defenses the Bills have seen this season and Cleveland's offense is so inept that the 19 points the Bills scored yesterday would likely lead to a two score win over the Browns. They get the Eagles at home and the Jets will be running for the bus. That leaves NE which is on paper the Bills toughest remaining game. 5 - 1 is not out of the question and 4 -2 seems very doable. -
Allen missed a wide open Knox on the final play

Put Josh on the LA Rams or San Francisco and find out how dominate he’d be, McDermott and Beane are two clowns that are wasting his time here. -

I'd flip the NE and Cinci results. Otherwise looks about like I see it unfolding. The wins won't come easy with this tired, fragile roster but they should get to 10 wins.

The thing that really makes me hate McDermott and Beane is they have ruined Allen's legacy. The last couple pages of this thread are depressing. They have fans questioning how good he is. And sadly that will be how he is remembered, not as an all time great but as the guy that could never get it done. The failure of this regime will fall entirely on his shoulders and it just sucks. No one will even talk about Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane in 20 years but they'll still be talking about how Allen couldn't climb the mountain. I probably shouldn't let that bother me so much but it does. -
If we aren’t going to win the Division (highly unlikely but watch CIN beat NE this weekend), we need to be in a position where Week 18 means nothing. Allen beat up all season. Bosa playing hurt. List goes on and on. That has to be a rest week unless it’s win and in or win and we get the division somehow.
-
The problem with saying when we turn the ball over we lose is that it's possible that when we are losing we are more likely to turn the ball over but isn't that true for every team? When it's a struggle and you have to press for everything the turnovers seem inevitable. When you get a cozy lead and everything is falling your way you are less likely to press and less likely to turn the ball over.

I think it's because Allen might reverse course and then Dawkins can pick up a guy as the scrambles...

Maybe Maye can teach Allen something next offseason? -
I gave this a thumbs up - great points. The only thing I don't agree with is that I'd still rather make the playoffs, just because I'm shortsighted and it's more fun to be in the playoffs. But there are significant silver linings to missing the playoffs entirely. I can't shake this weird feeling that the brain trust for the Bills isn't on the same page as the fanbase. I feel like they're stubborn, and they've shown that. Missing the playoffs might be a needed wake-up call.

Almost certainly referring to the centerfold in Playgirl magazine.

I do think that after nearly a decade things can get "stale" at any place of employment. The message has been said so long that it just becomes a catch phrase and not a rally cry

Oh this will be unpopular... To rebuild around Josh I'm dumping every vet contract I can, unless it would result in catastrophic dead cap, for Draft picks... That would include everything I could for an after June 1st designation if necessary. Outside of Josh, Jimbo, Ty, Gilliam, Spencer Brown, Grable, Van Pran-Granger, Shakir, Shavers, Bishop, and what is left of the 2025 Draft class I couldn't care less... Now... I fully realize you're not going to get rid of all those players. You have to field a team and the cap won't allow everything I would want to do in the first year... But not a single one of the others would be untouchable... Rebuild the Scouting department...Clear out cap room...Get to work... Draft like crazy...

Time to Rebuild? Too Many Beane Holes.

I don't think it is fair to call it a circus. They haven't been a clown show. They have been professional and methodical. It just hasn't worked and/or they haven't quite been good enough. -
This may just be me ranting. But the attitude of this team needs to change. Who remember when Allen was training with Drake Maye this offseason? They were all buddy buddy. Look where this has lead this team now. Not saying at all Allen is responsible for Mayes success. But training with your closest division rival in the offseason is just a recipe for disaster. Allen is the leader, and right now we need him, but what example does is set when your team leader is training with the guy who is 9-2 and has overtaken not only the afc east, but the afc as a whole. Drake Maye is about to reck havok for the next two decades while we just watch. Sickening really. Nothing we can do about it but just watch and remember our “glory days” of 5 straight Super Bowl wins 🤣 oh wait, that was just afc east division titles. Team is such a joke. I don’t know why I care anymore.

Beane has been focused on making one play more than KC and believes everything else is roses. No matter how much McDs D stinks he’ll never try something new. He wants coaches “yes man” guys, maybe “yes ma’am” after sporting those new glasses. Either way it’s just so he can call the shots and they take the fall when ***** goes sour. Young players gotta have a masters degree in the playbook before they see the field and old vets hold onto their jobs despite poor play. Did anyone really have high hopes when Tre and Poyer were signed. You know they were gonna see the field. Strong looked solid in his game against Baltimore and gets pushed to the side when Tre comes back. Poyer was on practice squad until Rapp gets hurt then jumps Hancock on the depth chart. Look at Bishop, what do you think was more beneficial for him, sitting behind Hamlin or getting on the field so he can play and learn? If he took a step last year late in the season like he has this year at mid season it might of helped us in playoffs. If we make playoffs this year will Poyer make an impact or be a liability like he was the last time he played for us in playoffs? Wasting our time with these vets just play the young guys and see what happens. Been saying for years this team is just treading water.
