Some Maybin notes

Recommended Posts

- Pass rush upfield that takes him far past the QB.......but unlike someone like say Kelsay he has a move to be able to redirect from behind and get back to the QB in a hurry. Ben R. throws for a completion but it is short of a first down. Maybin gets a hit on the QB.

- next Maybin posession Steelers convert a 3rd down.....it looks like Maybin is triple teamed.

- Next Maybin posession he is double teamed.....still gets the pressure

(mental note.....god Kelsay sucks.........he gets NO PUSH)

- next Maybin posession......this is the Maybin sack. He gets flushed Maybins way and Maybin sacks him. Forces field goal.

- Next Maybin possession...he gets credit for announcers for tackle but Ellison makes it. He got blocked.

- Next Maybin possession.....Maybin rushies slightly upfield but got the edge on the OT a bit.....nearly gets Ben from behind possibly to strip the ball but not quite. Looks like he got held a bit at the end of the play.

- Next Maybin possions......gets blocked.....

- Next Maybin posession.....I think he got pancaked

- Next Maybin possession......he takes a inside rush and gets a good hit on Batch......Batch gets it off

- Next play.....swims too far upfield....double teamed

- Next play gets blocked

- Next play gets blocked

- Next play......tackle at the LOS

- Next play.....blocked.....double teamed

I stopped at 4th quarter......he is already outplaing Kelsay

It bugs me that Maybin's speed "surprised" Jauron. It will bug me even more if maybin is resigned to 3rd Downs in Week One. He's easily the best pass rusher we have on the D-Line, and he's had one week of physical work, for God's sake.

Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.

I really like this fella

I thought so, too. A couple of extra holding penalties every game would be nice, even if he doesn't actually get to the qb.

We should just start him and let get the experience

What do we really have to lose?

Ha, the dark Lord Jauron will now put Maybin back in his box and place him on a shelf in the locker room for the season...

It will probably bug you even more when Jauron talks about how "surprised" he is when the Bills win a game...

I really liked the way he played...especially for his first pro game against a formidable line. I hope he sees the field a lot this year.

Seeing as how he was double and triple teamed throughout the game starting with his first play it seems other fear him already. It'll be great to see what he and Schobel can do when both are on the field.

Please let Kelsay be on that cut list

He would be, IMO, a bigtime liability in the run game. He needs another year of bulking up to play every down. This year pass rush specialist is a good role for him.

I agree. Kelsay really has no positive effect on our defense when on the field. Maybin might be a "hit or miss" kind of guy for a while, but he will make more plays than Kelsay. The experience he would gain from the whole situation would just help to make him better that much quicker.

No one has been harder on Maybin than I. I was very impressed from what I saw considering his holdout and all other factors. He played with a lot more strength than I ever saw him play with in college. However, I still feel he was washed out of the play too often, which was my big fear with him. From what I saw I feel much better about his potential. But with a play of his style, we will need to get more push from the DTs so that the QB cant step up in the pocket. We dont have those DTs on the roster.

I was impressed. He has only been there a week. He has some talent.

Yep. Hope he only improves with more time.

His speed was noticeable, kinda surprising actually. Just hope he

can change direction quickly when he gets pushed outside with his

speed.

Seems that the PGH staff watched an unknown force for a while, then figured out how to smack him down.

Really? They doubled him all game long, he makes plays until the end of that viewing sequence (tackle at LOS), and PGH "figured out how to smack him down?" B-);)

When the TOP is something like 40 minutes to 20, and a shutout...there is no room for praise for any player.

Maybin made some plays, I am told - nice. They "doubled" him, yet maintained possession AFAIK.

The Bills got shoved around. O, D, ST.

PS game #3 (#4 for them. I know) .

I would feel better if they would have picked a fight - an on-field melee. Show some spunk (and not the vulgar usage).

The Steelers scored 10 points, starters versus starters. This despite ZERO help from the offense, and with no Schobel. I wouldn't call that "getting shoved around," especially since the Steelers are the defending SB champs and they were playing in their house. ST's will be fine once the season starts, as they have been for the past 5 years.

On offense however, you could say they were shoved around. Mostly because the ST's kept putting them in a hole (average drive start was just short of the 16 yard line). Not having TO also made the Bills revert back to the offense they've had for the past 3 years.

As for picking a fight, that's just dumb. I can sort of understand being pissed over hearing players laughing in the lockerroom, but getting into a fight, no way.

Yes way.

PGH humiliated them. Instigate a rumble to get back some respect for your players and the team they play for.

Sour grapes? You bet. So what? Just because it seems that the club doesn't have all the pieces to make a run for it, doesn't mean they have to stand for being fodder and looking like fools.
