Lets face it....WHEN THIS TEAM FAILS THIS YEAR, we are going to see a LOT of changes......starting with coaching staff.

I am not convinced DJ lasts the year if Ralph is serious when he says he expects to win.

I agree 100%. I think it might even be the start of rebuilding, again. Carlos Dunlap from Florida will be high on our radar I'm sure along with other top DE's like Sergio Kindle, Greg Hardy, and Brandon Graham. If McCargo fails this season, I also wouldn't be surprised if we go after Gerals McCoy, Ndamakong Suh, or Terrence Cody to play DT along side Stroud. Dunlap is a monster with the skillset likened unto Mario Williams and is going to be a terror in the NFL.

With Maybin being strictly a specialist, I'd also suspect DE as one of the top positions to draft next year, since Kelsay is horrible and I think Schobel will prove this year that he's done. That leaves 2 DE spots to be filled in the offseason, if correct.

we need 2-3 new very solid front seven players next yr.Then we could be contenders.

i'll keep saying it...

should have not wasted picks on byrd and levitre...and drafted michael johnson and everette brown! then maybin could play outside linebacker, moving ellison to backup.

levitre will be hyped up and pan out like mccargo did.

donte whitner, bryant scott, and ko simpson/george wilson...are fine safeties. byrd was not needed.

Yeah, after one pre-season game, the book has been written on Levitre's career. Right.

After we play out the year, we will know what we actually need. If Maybin proves a solid rush specialist, everybody will be much improved as teams try to counter Maybin. He could then put on 10 - 15 pounds in the offseason and become a full-time DE. Schobel may have a terrific year if he stays healthy. Anyone who knows that he will not (or that he will, for that matter) is just guessing. Like the OP.

There's a reason they play the games.

We are saying all this because Maybin is not in camp......if Byrd ends up being a playmaking safety this will all be forgotten.......it is going to take a while to rebiuld these lines.

In 2010 maybe. PUP and non factor this year.

The pick was an absolute slap in the face of all fans. Disgusting. Disgrace. DJ should have been fired again for that pick alone (notwithstanding the 2-8 collapse last year).

You guys are all panicking because you watched the Bills play one of last years top offensive lines in the NFL?

That's right, Tenn had one of, if not the best O lines in pro football last season. Collins was sacked once every 40 drop backs or so and not many teams kept Tenn from running the ball into the endzone from inside the 20 with smash and dash. They also had the best record in the NFL last season.Same starters returning only with a better blocking tight end.

Not to mention it is the FIRST preseason game and the starting defense played 2 series, if they can't get close to Tom Brady in the opener, then yeah...they might have problems this season.

I also think that even if the Bills manage to sign Maybin, he will have little or no impact this season. Why do you guys think he came out of Penn St after playing only one year as a starter, because he wants to get paid!!!!!! Every time I see a player holding out like this it makes me think that they are all about the money and not the love of the game, Crabtree is the same way. The Bills screwed themselves by letting Orakpo slip by them to the skins one pick later, who already signed, JMO

So freaking relax for a few weeks and lets see how the team progresses heading towards the regular season.

Maybe even more than that, depending on what D Scheme the new coach installs. freester may be right.

We'll be a 3-4 team next year, once DJ is canned and a new D coordinator comes in (and no one is moving TO the cover 2 defense..) which means Denny may actually stay, as he may be stout enough to play an end in a 3-4. Everyone else is a misfit for a 3 man line, including Stroud... Maybin will be gone as well unless he can play backer in a 3-4.. he's never done it... the whole thing goes to sh_t this year the minute DJ is fired. 3-4 year rebuilding cycle starts again.. sucks to be a bills fan..

And the Pats JUST traded for Derrick Burgess......

when will we learn?

the Pats are a great well run organization in a great place to live that players want to go to. Players join the bills when no one else will have them (TO, Stroud, Florence).. good to great players go where they want to go.. (eg. Pia T. taking less $$ to go to the Bears, Crowell taking $1m just to get the h_ll out) and f-ing b-lo isn't on anyone's list... the Bills operate with one leg and one arm tied behind their backs.. assuming you still live in WNY just be grateful you have a team in a city that that is about as far from being a prototypical NFL city as is possible. The bills as presently constituted have no shot. I just hope they will be fun to watch while losing 10 games this year. Give me no huddle , give me Vick. At least entertain me while we wait patiently for Ralph's demise.....

I'm glad someone else see's the DE position as a huge problem. IMO, we should have picked up a veteran DE along with a rookie DE. I was hoping for Orakpo, but we drafted Maybin instead. I fear Maybin won't have that much of an impact this season, maybe 6-8 sacks at best. We're gonna have the same problems with our pass-rushing as last year. It doesn't matter how many and how good the DB's, CB's & Safety's we draft, if we don't have a decent pass-rush (I can't say good because our pass-rush is horrible), then we're gonna continue to get eaten up by the good QB's in the league. Hopefully somebody at OBD see's this and overhaul's our DE's next season.

Man, you guys, this is the 800 lbs gorilla in the room that people outside of this board don't talk about.

"Oh, the line has issues"

"Is T.O. going to cause problems."

"I don't know if Edwards is a true starter in this league."

???????????

Uh, no, talking heads, how about, "Is it my imagination or are the Bills' DEs getting eaten alive?"

Mentioning that you think the Bills should have drafted Michael Johnson and also that Levitre is a bust after 0 games in the NFL is justified qualification for you being an utter and complete moron. I will never take another post of yours seriously from here on out.

You are now officially certifiable.

MaGee is gone. Whitner is on his way out. McKelvin is a question mark. He might even be a return specialist; I mean we just don't know.

If Jauron is here, he will take a db in round 1 just as sure as s--t, unless his power is stripped. And, don't be surprised to see one in round 2 as well. Look at who (Brown) and what (a 2010 1st round pick) he passed on for an injured Byrd.

Jauron is a living nightmare.

Just like he was sure as sh*t to take a DB in the first round this year like everyone expected? Everyone complained that we needed linemen on both sides of the ball. DJ picked up what he thought was the best DE in the draft (time will tell), possibly the best C/G in the draft, and possibly the 2nd best G in the draft after being converted from T. Byrd might be a ball hawk and if/when he turns out like Ed Reed we will all be saying what a great pickup he was at the time. Point being in the first 4 picks he only drafted 1 DB and that might be because hes projected as the 2nd best S in the draft.

But the brain-lock-trust were telegraphing that they needed to address the pass rush before the draft and before they dumped Jason Peters.

I think we could have picked up Byrd in the third round. Thats where he was projected to go. This was a reach pick for a uneeded poistion of an injured player.

Fire DJ, promote Bobby April.

Barring some miracle, April could be the coach by week 7.
