With Maybin being strictly a specialist, I'd also suspect DE as one of the top positions to draft next year, since Kelsay is horrible and I think Schobel will prove this year that he's done. That leaves 2 DE spots to be filled in the offseason, if correct.

Maybe even more than that, depending on what D Scheme the new coach installs. freester may be right.

I'm glad someone else see's the DE position as a huge problem. IMO, we should have picked up a veteran DE along with a rookie DE. I was hoping for Orakpo, but we drafted Maybin instead. I fear Maybin won't have that much of an impact this season, maybe 6-8 sacks at best. We're gonna have the same problems with our pass-rushing as last year. It doesn't matter how many and how good the DB's, CB's & Safety's we draft, if we don't have a decent pass-rush (I can't say good because our pass-rush is horrible), then we're gonna continue to get eaten up by the good QB's in the league. Hopefully somebody at OBD see's this and overhaul's our DE's next season.

That would have led the team last season, ahead of Mitchell's and Denney's 4.0.

Schoebel is old and overpaid. Kelsay is just overpaid. Denney is old. Ellis is not NFL player.

MaGee is gone. Whitner is on his way out. McKelvin is a question mark. He might even be a return specialist; I mean we just don't know.

If Jauron is here, he will take a db in round 1 just as sure as s--t, unless his power is stripped. And, don't be surprised to see one in round 2 as well. Look at who (Brown) and what (a 2010 1st round pick) he passed on for an injured Byrd.

Jauron is a living nightmare.

Is he really alive? Skeletor might not actually be a breathing entity.

I agree with the poster. Our DL is absolutely horrible. Schobel gets a free ride from many fans because at one time he was productive but his play has drastically gotten worse over the last 3 years. Denney and Kelsey were horrible high draft picks. Mcargo looked terrible in his first preseason game. He has run out out excuses. I don't care if he is having a good camp; he better show it in the games. Maybin is our only hope. It sucks to have all your hope in a rookie. I can't understand for the life of me why we didn't address this either in the draft or in free agency. There were quality lineman in the FA. I believe there are still a few guys out there but the status quo is not going to get the job done. We could have the best DB's in the NFL but their going to look bad on Sunday because the QB has all day to deliver the ball. Do you want to know why teams like Tennessee are better than the Bills----> because they dominate in the trenches!!!

This is not based on one preseason game. This is based on the last several years and the fact that we did nothing to address this major weakness...

Lets face it....if this team fails this year we are going to see a LOT of changes......starting with coaching staff.

I am not convinced DJ lasts the year if Ralph is serious when he says he expects to win.

I definitely don't see DJ here if the team doesn't win at least half of the first 8 games and possibly the first 6. They won't give him the last 8 games to bring the record up and Bobby April's been waiting for a while for this opportunity.

I agree with the original poster in that DE is the first round pick next year, but there's no way all 4 of the guys he listed go. But I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the old guys went out the door and had some healthy competition in camp next year (regardless of what happens this year).

I was thinking the same thing watching the game Sunday. Our entire DL cannot beat anyone to the QB. What is the point of paying Kelsay and Denny millions when the Bills could just get some 300lb guy to play the run more effectively? Put McCargo and Johnson at DE. They are bigger and basically can't do any worse generating pressure.

This is why it blew my mind when the Bills were on the clock at 43 and they kept showing E. Brown. Then the Bills went ahead and got a DB. Carolina was happy because after we picked Bryd they traded next years 1st to grab Brown. I bet they thought we were gona take Brown as well. If we would have grabed Orakapo 1st instead of Maybin. Then Brown after Wood we would be set with those 2 for the next 10 years. But Dick and co screwed that one up as they do many games. Sad but kinda funny nothing ever changes.

Even funnier was that after the Nelson pick the next 3 were DBs. I thought we had plenty already on the roster. But who needs a front 7? We were obviosly set there. And I realize N. Harris is making the transition to LB.

Hey, Bill. This is the second time I've seen you mention this. What team offered us a 2010 1st rounder for our #2 this year?

GO BILLS!!!

i'll keep saying it...

should have not wasted picks on byrd and levitre...and drafted michael johnson and everette brown! then maybin could play outside linebacker, moving ellison to backup.

levitre will be hyped up and pan out like mccargo did.

donte whitner, bryant scott, and ko simpson/george wilson...are fine safeties. byrd was not needed.
