Good news for Alaskans - Palin resigning

Recommended Posts

Heres the full text of Palin's message on July 4th.

Happy 4th of July from Alaska!

On this Independence Day, I am so very proud of all those who have chosen to serve our great nation and I honor their selflessness and the sacrifices of their families, too.

If I may, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the last 24 hours and share my thoughts with you.

First, I want to thank you for your support and hard work on the values we share. Those values led me to the decision my family and I made. Yesterday, my family and I announced a decision that is in Alaska’s best interest and it always feels good to do what is right. We have accomplished more during this one term than most governors do in two – and I am proud of the great team that helped to build these wonderful successes. Energy independence and national security, fiscal restraint, smaller government, and local control have been my priorities and will remain my priorities.

For months now, I have consulted with friends and family, and with the Lieutenant Governor, about what is best for our wonderful state. I even made a few administrative changes over that course in time in preparation for yesterday. We have accomplished so much and there’s much more to do, but my family and I determined after prayerful consideration that sacrificing my title helps Alaska most. And once I decided not to run for re-election, my decision was that much easier – I’ve never been one to waste time or resources. Those who know me know this is the right decision and obvious decision at that, including Senator John McCain. I thank him for his kind, insightful comments.

The response in the main stream media has been most predictable, ironic, and as always, detached from the lives of ordinary Americans who are sick of the “politics of personal destruction”. How sad that Washington and the media will never understand; it’s about country. And though it's honorable for countless others to leave their positions for a higher calling and without finishing a term, of course we know by now, for some reason a different standard applies for the decisions I make. But every American understands what it takes to make a decision because it’s right for all, including your family.

I shared with you yesterday my heartfelt and candid reasons for this change; I’ve never thought I needed a title before one’s name to forge progress in America. I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint. I hope you will join me. Now is the time to rebuild and help our nation achieve greatness!

God bless you! And I look forward to making a difference – with you!

1. Her stepping down probably is in Alaska's best interest. - I agree. She shouldn't be governing an ant farm let alone any state.

2. She's obviously not leaving politics altogether.

3. Summary; "Waah, waah, the mainstream media actually thinks there should be a good reason and some intelligence behind a politicians decisions!" Why are they so out of step with the average American "Joe Six-Pack" who expects nothing like that!!

4. Not only is she not leaving politics but she seems to have her eye on something larger in the political realm. Any guesses?

The FBI is not investigating Palin.

"Normally, we don't confirm or deny those kind of allegations out there. But, by not doing so, it just casts her in a very bad light," said FBI Special Agent Eric Gonzalez, who confirmed for CNN the statement he made to the Anchorage Daily News. "There is just no truth to those rumors out there in the blogosphere."

Gonzalez told The Los Angeles Times that there was "no wiggle room" in his comments for any kind of inquiry.

Conservatives weigh in on her decision.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who ran unsuccessfully for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008, noted that Palin will remain in the media spotlight regardless of whether she is governor.

"The challenge that she's going to have is that there will be people who will say, 'Look, if they chased you out of this, it won't get any easier at other levels,' " Huckabee said. "It could be a brilliant strategy. The point is, we don't know."

Huckabee called a presidential campaign "brutal" and said a Republican primary will ratchet up the pressure on Palin.

"When your opponents within your own team spend millions of dollars to redefine you, it's very, very difficult," Huckabee said.

Best thing for her and for the GOP would be for her and her family to quietly go away.

:rolleyes::lol: :lol: :lol:

Too funny. It's amazing how liberals, the media (redundant, I know), and some fearfully insecure republicans continue in vein trying to bury this women. After a full year of Americans being liberally clusterfckd by the Obama admisitration, Sara Palin is going to become a gigantic cult hero. She'll be out there pitching the "need to stop the glutenous governmental spending and taxation" message to the hungry masses supporting the cause for the upcoming 2010 midterm elections. It truly will be the perfect storm...the media can't get enough of her, her message will be dead on with Americans sick of socialism, the liberals massively overreached like they always do...she'll become a daily nightmare for Obama and his dwindling followers.

I think that the short-sighted republicans taking jabs at her are even more funny (and pathetic). She has what it is that they ALL woefully lack...

I'm not saying I'd vote for her (I actually kind of like her just because she pisses off so many liberal people), just saying that this is what's going to happen. So be prepared.

From her speech:

I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig - I know he needs me, but I need him even more... what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT – that time is precious... the world needs more "Trigs", not fewer.

Who was making fun of her baby? I don't recall hearing anything about that.

But that point aside: The world needs more children with Down's Syndrome? At least activity on PPP won't drop.

Actually, there are many people, intelligent liberals and conservatives, that just can't figure out what the %^& she's talking about.

But if you can figure out what she stands for, please let us know. So far all I have is that she stands for the media being against her.

I seem to recall that she just announced her impending resignation -- let us know why she did that while your at it.

If that's not a veiled shot across the bow, I've never seen one. Palin will have a tough go if she does re-enter elective politics.

As a fiscal conservative and post-Republican, I can definitely say that it's her type that drove me out of usually supporting that ticket. They're liars who don't want to reduce spending; they just want to spend our money in different stores. Tired of the pony show where they have no substance, not many accomplishments, and no ability to form a rational argument --- not to mention a rational sentence.

If that party wants to get anywhere, they need to focus on people who have business success and have shown they can turn failure around. B/c in 2012, I think that's where we'll still be, if not worse than it is now.

What I got out of that very cryptic speech was that she was tired of fighting with one arm tied behind her back (it wasn't in the speech, but $500,000 in legal bills with a job that pays $140,000 can help force a change of plans also). The quitting thing will hurt her for a little bit, but when the money and growing cult status start piling up you will understand why she wanted no part of being a lame duck governor kept nice and neatly in a box till January of 2011. Her being freelance next year is going to be the messiah's worst freaking nightmare.

Besides, if you are running for president or VP, you should resign your elected post. Obama, Liberman and John Friggin Kerryshould have, You are not representing your constituents as you should if you are out on the campaign trail.

As opposed to the brilliance of your cult following of the savior who's bankrupting our country? The same guy who goes "uh, uh, um, uh, uh, um" when his binky (AKA teleprompter) is broke? Who's so confident in his brilliance that he uses plants and prearranged questioned at a supposed public "townhall" meetings? I didn't realize that cowardly burdening your children's children with trillions of dollars of debt was so freaking brilliant. How's that tax and overspend working for California and New York State? Being that you're a liberal you probably don't know the word, but it's called being irresponsible. It didn't take long for you guys to start shaking in your boots. Nowadays, that's about the only thing that's transparent about you liberals.

Fan of Palin? Yes.

Hitching my wagon to her in July, 2009? No way.

Angry at the clowns (FYI, they just swore in the newest clown Al Frankin today) in the government and think they should all be thrown out? Hell yes.
