What is the most ridiculous political statement

I'd say it was from Fahrenheit 9-11.......Moore insinuated that George HW Bush researched our defenses back in 2001, so he could assist the terrorists with their 9/11 attack.

I'm embarrassed that I was fooled for a while by this buffoon. That is the most baseless accussation I've ever seen. Anyone with half a brain can see how false that HAS to be!

I think it would be the Republican caucas in my town last week when they actually decided to nominate to their own ticket the incumbent tax-and-spend (8 percent increase in town budget) Democrat because "he's too popular" and "he probably can't be beaten." Even though the last election was hardly a landslide and we were running the town drunk. Un. Fuggin. Believable.

First that comes to mind was Kerry's "I voted for it before I voted against it" statement. Yeah, I know what he meant...he should have said what he meant. His statement was dumb.

Second is Gary Hart's answer in the Democratic Primary debates in '84 to the Czech airliner question...for those that don't remember, it was just after KAL 007 was shot down, and the question was along the lines of "If a Czech airliner was sighted over Kansas, how would you handle it." Hart went on this babbling spiel about how he'd order the jet fighters up to intercept, and have them fly along side and check in the windows to see if they were wearing uniforms... 0:) Mondale rebutted "What a stupid question. There's no way that's happening. A foreign airliner isn't getting to Kansas without us knowing it."

Any time a politician promises not to raise taxes.

Another is from the GOP here in Nassau County which blasted Democrat Tom Suozzi for raising taxes. They always left out that little tidbit that the reason why he had to raise taxes is because the previous Republican County Executive, Tom Gulotta, got the County in so much debt and in such financial hot water, it was practically bankrupt.

During WW2, Congressman Andrew May is credited

with sinking ten U.S. submarines.

Visiting Pearl Harbor, he was briefed that the

Japanese had no idea how deep our submarines

could go and set their depth charges too shallow.

He reported this interesting fact in a press

gathering on his return home which was duly printed.

Of course, the Japanese picked up this fact and

reset their depth charges.

Got a lot of people killed.

Sen. Diane Feinstein did the same kind of thing at a local level when she was the SF mayor.

Richard Ramierez, the Hillside Strangler had moved from LA to SF to avoid the cops. The cops had determined that the strangler had moved there. They were narrowing down who he was because they had shoeprints from a sneaker that had only sold <800 pairs. They had it down to maybe 20 possible people.

Feinstein holds a press conference stating that they are using sneaker prints to track down the strangler. That day Ramierez threw them off the Golden Gate bridge. It took month longer to finally catch him and if I remember correctly, he killed some more.

As far as pure stupidity goes, has to be one of Dan Quayles quotes. Its hard to decide which one is best

"If we do not succeed, then we run the risk of failure."

"We're going to have the best educated American people in the world."

"I love California, I practically grew up in Phoenix. "

"Welcome to President Bush, Mrs. Bush, and my fellow astronauts. "

"Illegitimacy is something we should talk about in terms of not having it. "

"We are ready for any unforeseen event that may or may not occur. "

"For NASA, space is still a high priority. "

"I stand by all the misstatements that I've made. "

""It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.""

"We don't want to go back to tomorrow, we want to go forward."

And from the quayles 1989 christmas card

"May our nation continue to be the beakon of hope to the world."

Man that was some great times...

As far as killing any future political aspirations, the dean scream was a killer, though im sure there are others which rival it.
