WideNine Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago That long run made me sick, but is what it is. They had him bottled up and the whole no one wrapping up and tacking thing happened again. This is what happens when you have to commit so many players to stopping the run - if the RB gets behind that there is no one there. We have certainly watched Cook do that to enough teams this year.Β The problem simply is we give up too many yards to the run on defense so we have to commit more to stopping it and everyone is running to the ball - it happens. Drafting players that can actually play the run has to be a priority for this regime seeing how teams are playing us - and those guys can be had in the later rounds too. I think it is more a scouting stereotype wall that Beane and his staff have to get past. For years it was such a passing-heavy league, but teams are doing more run-heavy sets and we were caught with feather weight players more fit to penetrating gap pass rushers and LBs who are more built for covering receivers. Need to adapt to have the right mix. Β
