NeverOutNick Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I love the kid I think him being an elite offensive lineman that’s a tight end and being able to be clutch when needed makes him invaluable. I don’t think he will ever be Gronk or George Kittle because he’s not that kind of athlete but heck maybe he can be a better blocking version of Jason Witten 1 Quote

I fear being handcuffed by a contract to a often injured player yet again. Having Hawes on the team might softens the blow of trading Dalton or letting him walk. Dalton won’t be leaving the Bills 1 Quote

If he continues to do well as receiver, and really focuses on that in the off season, attending the tight end camp and working with some of the best on his own, I think he can become a high quality starter, a great compliment to Kincaid. But Iike Knox too, think he is one of the most under utilized talents on the roster. He separates effectively, has very good hands now, and has become a much better blocker. I would love to keep all three of these guys next year and think Knox can be had for a very good price. But Brady needs to open his eyes to the talent on the roster, and not wait to be called out for not doing that. The offense has not been good at using the available talent, this is not a new problem, Brady seems to forget what weapons he has, and hasn’t shown an ability to mix in those players consistently, jmo. GO BILLS!!! 1 1 Quote

You might want to take a look at Witten’s career stats and then go try and find someone else to compare Hawes to. 😂 Edited 13 hours ago by LabattBlue Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Rookie contract. Those townhouses by the stadium a bunch of players live in have like 9ft ceilings at most. 2 Quote

No one with any common sense would think I’m actually stating a rookie 3rd TE is right now comparable to Jason Witten. But I like his longevity to one day be Jason Witten like. It’s not unfathomable Quote

What does Witten’s career numbers have to do with comparing the kind of player Hawes could be. He’s already an elite blocker and nasty like Witten, not a phenomenal athlete but already has a rapport to get open for his QB. Hopefully he can run routes consistently like Witten did but not a far fetched idea to think he can. He’s only going to get better. 1 Quote

Shortchaz Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I thought his touchdown grab was actually a sneaky good catch. He seems to have a lot of tools, just depends on how bad he wants it. Quote
hondo in seattle Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He's a helluva blocker. One of the best blocking TEs in the league. From what I've seen, his route running is unspectacular. If a LB or safety is assigned to him man-to-man, he likely won't get separation. But versus zone, he does seem to have an ability to find a soft spot. And, so far, his hands seem reliable. All in all, a great role player and excellent value for the 5th round. Quote
Buffalo716 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Only question is Was Jackson tapped into skull and bones at Yale? Any good skull and Bones recruitment year has at least a Yale football star or captain If he was tapped into skull and Bones his ceiling is US president Edited 7 hours ago by Buffalo716 Quote
Kelly to Allen Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He's very similar to Kyle Brady in the 90s. Quote
thewookie1 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago My guess is his ceiling is more or less what we already have but just further refined. Top tier blocker who is borderline like a 6th OL A guy who understands his role and plays within it And will likely continue to make a solid impact in the passing game once or twice a game when he cleverly slips out of his blocking role. He’s very good at finding soft zones in zone defenses and has a knack for finding yards whenever they’re available for him to take. I don’t see him ever becoming a huge pass catcher as he doesn’t exactly run crisp routes or have a physical absurdity to overwhelm defenders in coverage however his skills do play well into his general role. I could also see him having a random 100yd game in a run heavy game with multiple check downs for 8+ yards a pop. Quote

His 10 yard split was 1.56 seconds. That’s impressive and shows what he’s capable of since TEs aren’t really doing 40 yard sprints on the field lol He’s going to be a good one. We got a steal. Just hope he can develop running routes. He’s already an elite blocker and great at being a safety valve for Josh. He has a catch in every game this year. He’s only going to get better. 1 Quote
