I think if the Bills can take care of the Bengals they will at least very likely be a wildcard team. I can't see the Bills not beating the Browns and Jets in must situations to get to 11 wins. There is an outside shot 11 wins does not get you in but I think it will. I think the Chargers will fall off or if the Texans lose to the Chiefs that puts them at zero margin of error. Either way I can't get wrapped up in how the rest of the conference is just win against Cincy and get to 9 wins.

So you need the Pats to lose 3 of their last 4 games for this to happen?? I am assuming you also need the Bills to win in 2 weeks right? While very possible IMO very unlikely. I could see them going 2-2 though.

No I need Bills to win out and Pats lose one additional divisional game. I think both are realistic.

I am a Bills fan and an optimist though

That's for players and coaches. Fans can look ahead whatever they like

Yeah but do you see their defense being able to stop the Bills offense? Especially without Hendrickson?

What is gonna stop the Bills offense against the Bengals?  The Bills offense, of course.

Can we pound the run over and over again and keep up with what the Bengals might be able to score?

The Division race is over.  No use in stressing over it.  New England has it wrapped up.  They are all setup, barring major injuries to be the 1 seed and get essentially two weeks off to get ready for the divisional round.  Will be interesting if they do get the 1 seed and KC sneaks in as the 7 and wins their wild card game.

The Bills season is not over if they lose to Cincinnati (especially if the Texans also lose).   Even the Bengals season is not over if they lose to Buffalo.  They would need to run the table after that and get some reasonable help.

I wanted to hear you out… but had to stop right there.  The Bengals are absolutely NOT the toughest game left on the schedule.   It will be a tough game, mostly

because we get them after a 10day rest which gives Burrow more time to get back in a rhythm.

But the Patriots are absolutely a better team than the Bengals… AND we get them after their bye week!  And in Foxboro.  The schedule makers did us no favors with this little stretch!

Oh yeah.. and we get to play the Eagles still.

so… sorry.. I stopped reading your post at the start of the 2nd paragraph.  Any conclusions drawn on the assumptions that next week is the toughest team/game we have left are flawed conclusions.

You're right, I didn't phrased it correctly. I do agree the Patriots are the toughest game remaining.

But maybe I am weird, but I have absolutely no doubt that we will win there. We are not getting swept by divisional rival. Both McD and Allen are too good for that.

So that is a win in my book. Bengals I am less sure of, so that is the game I fear most when thinking about winning out.

I'm  not holding out hope for the division, but if the Bills were to win out and if the Patriots were to lose either of their last 2 games to the Dolphins or Jets, the Bills would win the division as the tiebreaker would end up being Conference record where the Bills would have the edge with 3 losses to the Patriots 4.

The Pats have been gifted about the easiest set of circumstances given scheduling and fluky events like Chase getting suspended for their game that they still almost lost.  Maybe the ball keeps bouncing their way, but Miami and the Jets to close the season won't necessarily be gimmes as divisional games.

That said, no game for Buffalo is a gimme either, so they need to take care of their own business.

You know what would be really cool, go 1-0 Sunday against the Bengals while playing good football and getting healthier.

And after doing that for a few more weeks, if we play a Wild Card game, go ahead and try to win that.

Higher seeds and home games are nice, but playing good football and being as healthy as possible. A lot can always happen as when our 5-5 team beat the Fish to win the division, but almost every scenario is best if we go 1-0 on Sunday and enjoy that process.

Bills will be the 5 seed and play at the AFC North division winner in 1st round. Its the most likely path.  I hate it, bc I really wanted us to have home field.  But cant lay 2 eggs vs Atl and Miami and expect anything.

I think there will be upsets in the AFC playoffs, so hosting a playoff game is not unrealistic even as a WC.  Might just be the AFCCG.

I'm hoping that Ed Oliver can come back for the playoffs.  Od all the players on IR who are eligible to return, he's the guy that could make the biggest difference in the defense.

It's literally not over lol

If we beat the pats , were 1 game back and they play Baltimore.

Pats have to lose to Dolphins or Jets for it to matter. If they beat both, even if they lose to us and the Ravens they end 13-4. If we win out we also end 13-4 and they win the tiebreaker for division record. Our slimmest of hopes is that the Dolphins upset them in week 18 and that we win out.

I've given up on the division. It is what it is. Root for the Steelers to win the AFCN and the Chiefs to miss the playoffs. That gives us an incredibly easy road schedule all the way to the Super Bowl. Something like Pittsburgh, Jacksonville, Denver. I don't care if we play all of those games in Timbuktu, I like our chances.

I think you're quite overrating Cincy off the win at Baltimore, where the Bengals needed 5 turnovers from the Ravens to pull it off.

The Bengals defense stinks, and the Bills 4 losses have come when we score 20 points or less.  The game at Cleveland against Myles Garrett and company (who play great D at home) might even be tougher.
