REPORT: 49ers to release Aiyuk

I never under why aiyuk got the contract he did.  He was never in that top tier of WRs. But I’d be happy to bring him here on a much more realistic deal.

 

Aiyuk hurt his knee around the same time as Diggs right? Diggs is already back to 100% but I assume Aiyuk is worse? 
 

this to me is a next year deal.  Get him on the team then IR him

I would not put a waiver claim in, he prob won’t play this year and may never live up to the contract.  He clears waivers, then sign if he’s healthy

I'm not.  Please tell me how where we're going to find a WR1 in the off-season.  We all know Beane and McDermott are staying.  Based off their history, it's highly unlikely they draft one.  Pickens pry stays in Dallas.

If we judge him as the player he currently is, then sure. But, Josh has also shown that he's highly adaptable.  Just a matter of learning the scheme and developing timing and chemistry with other players. It may not be his preferred style of play, but he's a hellava lot better option than those two.

Haven't you heard were going to trade Shakir and our 1st in 2027 for AJ Brown which will allow us get a #1WR and shift Coleman to the slot and fix everything. I'm kidding as it's a horrible idea.

This is why I’m like let’s do this. He would instantly be our best guy either the end of this year or next. Add a high round draft pick and a vet and all of a sudden the WR corps with Kincaid and Shakir becomes pretty decent

However, after publicly dealing with and inactivated a player for missing meetings - bringing in a WR released for missing meetings would take some not caring about the optics or not caring about why he was released. I would do it. But I'm not sure this regime would.

Ya know. I was here and kinda forgot I was lol agreed. We need to take our medicine. With that said id still pull trigger on Waddle for future years still.

 

Kinda insane to me this staff feels comfortable enough to not try and make some kind of move even if it makes them look desperate. I truly dont think either of them is safe enough to coast through this season.

It's a TERRIBLE optic. I can already see the media torching them for benching Coleman for missing meetings and rewarding Aiyuk for it.

 

However, we're in a position where I'd just take the abuse. A bigger issue to me than the media torching would be the message it would send the locker room. And that's why I don't see it happening. Even if I'd do it.

 

Which honestly makes what Coleman did even more infuriating. Without him doing what he did and us punishing him for it, such a thing wouldn't be an issue.

My hope is the reporting on that potential trade was inaccurate.  I get you'd hate to lose a 1st and a 3rd in the same draft with those players on rookie contracts but you're likely drafting a WR with one of those picks anyways.  It's highly unlikely you draft one as good as Waddle and that player may take a year or two to develop anyways.  It's very frustrating as a fan seeing this year and probably next year of Allen's prime being wasted because they neglected that position for so long.

I’m rooting for Pickens myself.  I don’t think Dallas can afford two 30 million WRs and a 60 mil QB.  
 

I’m also hoping a trade for Brian Thomas Jr could go down in the offseason.

Don't think ppl are actually reading the articles.  They are voiding future guarantees, in 2026.  And will most likely part ways after this season.
