You realize that we're the only AFC division winner from last season that's in the playoffs as of today, right?  But teams like KC and Baltimore have multiple year MVP winner QBs and team we just defeated has the best defense in the league and 3-0 with their backup QB. Yeah our coaching/GM staff sucks.

Baltimore has been without their QB for a couple games and held it together.

They’re a win on Sunday against the Jets from being one game behind us.

And are predicted to win their division, which that is simply luck as they don’t have a Denver or NE to deal with.

So you can say this if you want, but chances are if we make it, might be heading into Baltimore WC weekend to face the team you’re currently acting like we’re better than.

Ravens had a Bills/Texans type game against Cleveland, but were able to win because they.. unlike us.. don’t have a soft Defense that gives up 20 points in a half to a bad Offense.

Waaayyyyy too many holes in this roster.  No chance to completely fix in a single offseason, especially with the cap hits.  Our Super Bowl window has definitely closed

While the Patriots has just opened.

WR is the most obvious need.  But it goes way beyond that.

  • Dion Dawkins is overweight and has regressed badly this season.  Probably time to start planning for the future.
  • Khalil Shakir is either being misused, or decided not to show up this season.
  • Dalton Kincaid is injury prone and Dawson Knox needs to take a massive pay cut.

Almost the entire defense needs an overhaul.  We are somehow simultaneously undersized AND slow.

  • Matt Milano, Taron Johnson and DaQuan Jones are done.  Tre White and Jordan Poyer were done 2-3 years ago.
  • Terrell Bernard is too small to play MLB and needs to be replaced.  Extending him was a huge mistake.
  • Christian Benford and Greg Rousseau got paid and took the season off.  Apparently extending them was also a mistake.
  • Joey Bosa is a good pass rusher and huge liability in run defense.  He should be a specialist, not an every-down player.

The Bills need to fire the current front office.  Get a new GM and new coaching staff.

Time to pack it in for this season.  The #1 seed is out of the question.  The AFC East is almost certainly gone.  We are looking at a Wild Card path (at best), and another early playoff exit.

We have a drought era team that lacks talent everywhere but manages to scratch and claw their way to double digit wins because of the generational QB.

Looking at the terrible contracts Beane has handed out and all of the draft pick whiffs, it's no surprise why we are in this situation.

Look at all the cap money we're going to have tied up paying guys to not be on the team. The ones who do manage to stay on the team aren't difference makers that help us win games either.

Been reading alot of these posts and I agree with most of them, especially about Beane and Mcdermotts handling of this roster.  I have been seeing and stating this for several years,  but get blasted and called dumb, or clueless, or even most recently been told by several important posters on here that Beane has drafted well.

I am.now reading these ro see if the same critics call a post like yours dumb, or if you get asked to provide 20 GMs that have drafted better than Beane.

Too much dead cap.

A “rebuild” is not in the cards for this team unless you can tell us how we can operate with 40 plus million in cap space starting in 2027.

By then, that’s 2 more years of Josh wasted.

And why finding replacements for Beane and McD will be tricky - new regime isn’t inheriting a team with 100 mill in cap space.

It will be inheriting a roster of old overpaid jags that may not match their philosophy.

This is fast approaching a complete catastrophe.

We need to let the catastrophe happen asap and not drag it out.

A new regime will have some leash to fix the problems.

Josh NEEDS this, and since he's 95% of the franchise, the team NEEDS this.

We have an MVP QB who's visually frustrated nearly every game, even caught on the sidelines yesterday after bad plays calls saying "what are we even doing?"

We are in desperate need of a fresh start. Bad rosters for a year or 2 would be acceptable if there's an injection of optimism and energy from new leadership.

Samuel, Milano, Knox make way too much for their production.  There are a few others.  Huge contracts for very little on the field needs to be addressed.

Add Palmer near the top of this list.

And it still is likely that Allen will get the Bills into the playoffs as a wildcard this season.  And given how well Allen plays in the post season they might even get a first round win. And that will ensure Bean & McD stay and might even encourage the Bills to double down on their current roster building strategy.

And I get why Pegula, at the moment the new multi billion dollar stadium is about to open, would play it safe here and not rock the boat.  So yea 2 more years are wasted with Allen's clock ticking.

He could get rid of Beane and I'd take that for now. I don't want him making anymore personnel decisions for my team. Championship Roster? on more than one occasion he's believed that. The coaching staff is canoeing upstream right now.

Is Beane drafting the players he wants or is he drafting the players McDermott wants? To me, I feel like we are definitely drafting the players McDermott wants. I still say fire them all and start over. But I have a sneaking suspicion McDermott is the man responsible for all of this because he's also the first to scapegoat whoever he can.

Beane runs the draft. The overall strategy McDermott has a say in so if you want to argue too much on defense etc its legit to point to both of them. But Beane is 100% the one evaluating and selecting players.

I don’t even know where to go honestly.

We just handed out 4 bad to meh, at best, extensions.

We have a good bit of dead cap.

Have to make decisions on McGovern and Edwards.   Desperately need a true WR1.   If they let those two walk, they need to draft IOL early/mid-rounds and hope SVPG, Anderson and Grable are ready to compete for the spots at a high level.

Defense is a friggin warzone.  Needs everywhere.  Safety opposite Bishop, NCB, probably 2 LB’s, Defense will get back Hoecht, Oliver, Jackson and Carter.  Probably need a run stuffing DT to round out the room, which they don’t believe in.. and a legit pass rusher off the edge which is next to impossible to get with our cap situation and draft position.

We can pick up about ~$20mil I think by moving on from Taron, Knox and Samuel next year. Bass needs to take a pay cut or be replaced.

Guys like Groot, Bernard, and Benford we are welded to.

Bernard especially seems like that one's gonna hurt for a couple years. As things stand I cannot fathom a world where both his health AND his play on the field comes close to living up to that extension.

Even if the Bills take on massive dead cap hits over the next two years, they still have to find a way to fix the issues via draft and bargain basement FA.

Anyone have faith that the current regime(front office AND coaching staff) can accomplish this, or will it be more JA prime years flushed down the drain?

Man, if you didn't put that in parentheses, I never would have known what you meant

I think I read that Bernard is pretty easy to get out of after next year.   So we’re stuck with him in 26 but I think can get out somewhat cleanly after.

What are the ultimate trade away options if Buffalo calls it a rebuild process?

Unpopular opinion, but they should offer Josh, after what this coaching staff and front office (all of them deserve to be fired, btw) have done to him, a chance to go play for his childhood team, the 49ers.  Flame away!

Extending Coleman?? He'll be lucky to last his rookie contract at this point, and even then, I doubt they'd resign him. I can't see him turning things around that equals production equal to his draft spot. Josh apparently has trust issues with him, not to mention immature behavior. If you're gonna do a rebuild, WR1 is the first place to start, and Coleman doesn't fit

Do you understand sarcasm?

The biggest hole on this team is at WR. Last year the NFL hadn't figure out had bad we were at the position.

The negative impacts are:

Josh is holding the ball too long sometimes and forcing things to make a play.

We never chip with a back a great edge rusher like Anderson because we need people out on routes. The OL has to hold up.

The running game would be even better if we didn't have to run into 8-9 man boxes.

The defense needs to play with a lead. That's the script. We are devoid of talent and can't stop the run unless teams have to play catch up against us.

We have to be perfect most games. The games we lost think NE, Atl, Mia, Hou 20 pts, 14 pts, 13 garbage pts, 19 pts and at least 3 TOs in all those games. Far from perfect.

Looks like you're right, the dead cap is only 3.6 after 2026 vs 2.4 after 2027.

We can only hope Beane is replaced this off season -- making sure he doesn't weld us into more bone headed extensions so that the next guy is actually set up to do something in 2027. Or maybe we'll get lucky and him and McDermott will completely change their philosophy on how to construct a roster.

That is not what I meant. If McDermott says I want a fast middle linebacker who excels in coverage, then Beane is tasked with evaluating the players available and attempting to draft that player. A good coach would be more flexible in their scheme and want the best middle linebacker available, period.

I know I didnt hear Rousseau's name mentioned hardly at all during the game, never even noticed him.
