Except they will want to use some of those draft picks to get a QB & early returns are this is a bad QB draft class so the jury's still out. Especially given the Jets QB draft history. But if they hit, then I 100% agree with you.

I feel like Philly really didn’t trade for anyone midseason either year they won the superbowl unless I’m missing something? which is very possible lol 

I think that’s why op brought up the rams not to put words in anyone’s mouth 😂.

 

The only big swing midseason rental ‘trade’ I can think of that had a big impact was that rams team and that partly required a talented wr basically forcing his way out of his current contract which you can’t always count on. Von was a standard trade though

 

theres a bunch of these half season rental trades every year and they mostly amount to not much of anything.  I’ll never forget everyone panicking the chiefs got uche last year and I don’t think he was even active for the playoffs haha heck the ravens traded for diontae Johnson and had to waive him cuz he was a nutjob 

 

doesn’t mean we shoulda done nothing but I think people are expecting guys like shaheed to do exactly what he’s been doing the second he gets plopped onto the Seahawks but it often doesn’t work out that way

Yeah but they seem to be loading for 2027

 

They already have 3 1sts in 2027, plus with the ammo this year, they can add even more for 2027. It would be quite easy to move some of that 2026 for 2027 ammo if they feel that way. Then get a QB plus a good amount pieces in place, both young and through FA

I didn't bring up the rams, someone else did!  Rams are ineligible for being declared the "winner" I don't think they made any moves this year

They created 2 holes. Can they aquire players equal to or better than the 2 they traded away? Will they land a franchise QB? Maybe they put a huge package of picks together to move to 1st pick (if they don't get it on their own) and take Mendoza? The Colts pick looks like it will be late first round this year. Around where we normally pick. They may have a lot of good picks but they also have a lot of holes. 

 

They really should have went "all in" on the reset and moved Breece Hall and Garrett Wilson if they were going this mode.

Hall and Wilson are young enough to be around awhile to help a QB develop.  You build with offense.  Finding 2 completely desperate organizations to give you 3 first round picks, a 2nd round pick plus 2 young players who were picked in the top 50 of the draft is complete robbery.  I know it’s the Jets but hat tip to them.

Agree, they really made out well and got a nice haul. Wilson I can agree, but with how short RB shelf lives are and the fact that he's not signed beyond this year...moving Hall should have been a no brainer for them.

You don't need that long. If Seattle wins the Super Bowl and Saheed is a big part of that, they win the trade deadline. 

 

Same can be said for Indy, if they win the Super Bowl and Gardner helps that pass defense it's a win. 

 

The goal is to win the Super Bowl.

2027 draft

8 top 64 picks the next 2 drafts already

You have to take into account who will be managing those picks. The Jets waste them the wrong people and end up in the same boat 4-6 years down the line again, with a different coach, and a different failed QB.

As long as Woody Johnson and his family own the Jests, nothing is going change with that team, no matter how much draft capital they accumulate.

 

I think that Indy will likely regret giving up those two firsts in the long run for a DB.   They are obviously all in to win this year before the clock strikes midnight for Daniel Jones.

The Jets won and are in offical "tank" mode for the overall 1. Seattle got our WR for a price we could have afforded.

Jerry Jones should fire himself this morning. They are not making the playoffs. He's just pretended to do something for optics and pissed away prime picks for what I'm guesing is at best a 7-9-1 record.

The Jets moves stocked the team with picks. It looks like ownership and Glenn went into 2025 as a season to assess the team and make whatever changes needed.

The Bills doing nothing was a disappointment but maybe the Patriots where an even bigger disappointment? 60 million in cap space and a QB on a rookie deal and no extra help. When and if they hit a slump or a rash of injuries it will bite them in the backside. They could have made things tougher on the Bills by making a few additions and are going to regret it at the end of the season.

For a team going nowhere this year or next, the Jets made out very well.  The problem, as many have pointed out, is that they still have a bottom 2-3 owner and a history of screwing up just about everything they do.  Is Aaron Glenn going to be a good HC?  So far the jury is certainly out.
