BuffaloBillyG Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Like many here, I'm hoping... PRAYING...for Beane to make some moves in the next week and shore up our WR and Safety spot. And now after losing Big Ed yesterday, possibly the DT spot. I mean, overpay at this point if you have to. Do SOMETHING. But glancing around the NFL at the teams with records that would normally be "sellers" this time of year shows that there may not be teams willing to move players. In the AFC the bottom feeders are: - The Jets and Dolphins. I really don't see either team lining up to trade anyone of value to a division rival. Yes, teams do at times trade within the division. But it's very unlikely they would send us a Waddle or Wilson at the WR spot to have to face them twice a year. - Cleveland. This is a team that should be selling whatever it can. Jerry Jeudy has a big dead cap hit if they move him. - Cincinnati and Baltimore. Both teams have talked themselves into still being in it. Baltimore may have a shot. I think Cincinnati is fooling themselves thinking they can make it til Burrow comes back. But neither team is a big seller right now. - Raiders. Possibly the only team really looking to move a WR, and that's not 100%. Supply and demand have a big gap this year, so them getting a haul for Jakobi Meyers isn't out of the question. - Tennessee. They have begun moving players, sending McCreary to the Rams. They have been firm that DT Simmons is NOT available. Trouble is they don't have much else. Calvin Ridley has been hurt. Looking at the NFC, It doesn't get better. Giants- probably should be selling but both Schoen and Daboll are probably fighting for their jobs. Now with losing Skattabo a long with Malik earlier in the year, it doesn't look good for them. Saints- Have reportedly told teams Olave is staying put. But they are a cupboard that can and probably will be raided. One of Shaheed or Cooks are probably on the move. Cardinals - Another team that should be selling what they can. Problem is aside from maybe Budda Baker...what else do they have? I don't see them moving Harrison, and their next best receiver is probably Zay Jones. Yes, that Zay Jones. Is there another team out there that should be selling? Probably the Vikings, but I think they land in the same camp the Ravens and Bengals are with the whole "fake it til we make it" outlook. All in all, I expect this to be a pretty quiet week leading up to the trade deadline for all teams. The buyers definitely out number the sellers. This is also a good chance to remind people, that even if the Bills make zero trades, that doesn't mean Beane wasn't on the phone attempting to make a move or three. It just means no deals were struck. I have confidence Beane and company are shopping as much as possible. But after looking around, the shelves may just be bare. 4 4 1 Quote

Pete Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago Shaheed will do at the very least Just now, MiltonWaddams said: If I beat him, do I get to design the trade? It was all a bluff in my opinion. Beane came in hot, put them on the defensive, took offense and tried to embarrass them about wanting Josh Rosen. I would of loved to see some push back from Jeremy 1 1 Quote
Low Positive Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago This is what happens when there are 7 playoff spots per conference and overall parity. There are not enough truly bad teams to be sellers. Also, the NFL doesn't have the practice of bad teams selling off all their assets for prospects, picks, and cap space like the other North American sports leagues. Finally, no other sport has anything approaching the level of scheme that football has. It's not as easy to slot new players in mid-season as it is in baseball or basketball. So needing to adjust the roster in major ways mid-season is less than ideal for any NFL team, and it's especially hard this year. 2 3 Quote
Kornfed Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) Hoping to see Bills pick up Saints WR Shaheed. A deep threat could possibly have a big impact on this offense. I doubt that they’re gunna be able to pick up a DT with ability beyond what they already have on the practice squad in Zion Logue. Edited 12 hours ago by Kornfed 3 Quote

With Logue, who I thought played well and Phillips on the PS, it wouldn't shock me if they don't see a need at DT. I expect Logue to take Oliver's spot on the 53 man roster once he's placed on IR, likely sometime this week. 1 Quote

BillsFanForever19 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago (edited) I think it's true that it's not a good year to be relying on the Trade market to improve your team. There is no Davante Adams or even Amari Cooper (at the perceived level he was at before he came here) available that is perceived as a massive upgrade. That said, when you're in the position we're in, even options like Jakobi Meyers or Rashid Shaheed are upgrades over a number of guys we have. And any potential upgrade should be made, even if it isn't a super exciting one. I'm prepared for people balking at a move like that and people saying "that's it?!". But it may represent the best available options to us. Edited 11 hours ago by BillsFanForever19 2 Quote
Warriorspikes51 Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago If Olave can’t be had then get Shaheed at the very least he has legit top speed to concern defenses. One would hope he can generate more separation than Keon Coleman 1 Quote

The same Gabe Davis we all knew wasn't even a WR2. And coming off a knee injury to boot. Meyers, Shaheed or Jeudy would be our most dangerous WR. Heck Mecole Hardman would see serious snaps at WR. The options just aren't there this year. Today, the Steelers brought in and signed MVS. That's a sign of what WR needy teams are being told when it comes to the big names. He of course has played with Rodgers before. Quote

And with the young guys they have a long with Lockett signing today, that may fall on a solid thought. 7 minutes ago, Dr.Sack said: I like the idea of running back. I do as well. We need a number 2 to take some early season carries on and help Cook stay fresh. Unfortunately, there are a lot of more pressing needs I believe. And the last time we nab es a running back at the deadline he saw like 20 offensive snaps the rest of the year. If it's me, I elevate Gore and take a look in love action. We've had him in town for a year and a quarter. Time to see what we got. If that doesn't work I'd look at the PS list around the league. Edited 10 hours ago by BuffaloBillyG 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Imagine selecting DT Dwayne Carter in round 3 -2024, DT T.J. Sanders round 2- 2025 and DT Deone Walker round 4-2025 and still maybe trading for a DT before the deadline yet these guys refuse to get Allen any sort of weapon since Stefon Diggs. Oh and signing free agent DT Larry Ogunjobi who missed 6 games for PED's. 3 Quote

I've always been of the opinion that outside KC the biggest deterrent that's really hurt the Bills road to the SB is the elimination of the bye for the #2 seed. 1 1 Quote
philholbroo Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago simmons only one i am really interested in. If they stay put with wr group, just some coaching/play calling adjustments and they should be fine, and can mostly let james cook and lean on TE if necessary. It will come down to playcalling and adjustments. 1 1 Quote
