DrDawkinstein Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Was a bad hire to begin with. This is an interesting opening to add to the carousel tho 2 Quote

thenorthremembers Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Beyond the guy being a complete fake, LSU has an inflated idea of who they are. Another place Joe Brady can consider in the offseason. Quote

He's the first coach in 24 years to not win a National championship at LSU I don't know if I'd say inflated ego LSU is a very good football school .. the pressure of the job and being in the bayou makes it tough to stay for a long time 1 Quote
Cynical Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Being reported Kelly was fired for insubordination. Not confirmed. Apparently LSU AD Woodward wanted Kelly to fire Sloan, the OC. Kelly refused, and wanted to fire some position coaches on the offensive side instead. Woodward said no. Quote
Bray Wyatt Posted October 27 Posted October 27 So he is gone? Just like his fake southern accent? 2 Quote
Cynical Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Kelly agrees to a $27M buyout. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/lsu/news/lsu-brian-kelly-agree-reduced-buyout-college-footballs-historic-season-continues/79382919559c80a43b1b30ca?utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=appeared_on 1 Quote

Maybe the threat of "trashing him" in the media so he doesnt work again? Or rather the suggestion that they can end it amicably for $27M... Quote

Especially after I found out his buyout was not a one time payment, and it was to be spread out over 6 years. ($9M year). Speculation is running wild right now. If he was fired for insubordination, LSU may have told him he was not getting his buyout. If he did not like it, see you in court. Personal skeletons in Kelly's closet that LSU was aware of when they hired him and Kelly did not want to go public. Potential "show cause" incidents. LSU may suffer in the short term, but would make Kelly toxic to other programs looking for a coach. Quote
Mark Vader Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Brian Kelly has been overrated for years, what was Louisiana State thinking when they hired this guy? 3 Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted October 27 Author Posted October 27 Interesting stuff here. All the way to the Governor's Mansion... https://sports.yahoo.com/college-football/breaking-news/article/inside-brian-kellys-messy-firing-at-lsu-how-it-all-unraveled-so-quickly-in-baton-rouge-020642694.html Quote

Or rather the suggestion that they can end it amicably for $27M... my guess is....these deals often have an off-set clause in them. So if he gets a new job, LSU "recoups" the buyout. Maybe this guarantees him $27M with no offset if LSU doesn't think he will get a new job...they save $$. Kelly can now go get a new job and not have to pay back the $27M in offset. im just speculating....could be 100% wrong. Quote
