If Beane felt any pressure at all, as in ordinary accountability from a reasonably diligent owner, he'd be more likely to pursue a deal if one is actually possible. Unfortunately, he doesn't, and the present roster reflects that complacency. 2 Quote

You say he “keeps improving” which he does, but hes been in the league too long to still be waiting. He is also a huge letdown for his $24-25 million cap hit. That’s a MASSIVE contract. Both Oliver and Groot can go for an entire month or more without making a single impact play. Total inconsistency. Groot at least has a low cap hit the next year or two. But to my eye AJE generates more pressure on 1/4 the snaps. And don’t get me started on how good he is against the run, because it certainly doesn’t show, or help the team. Guys like them not producing are literally why we have struggled to win the tough games. if Oliver were Jalen Carter or Chris Jones we’d have won a SB by now. Kinkaid is a pretty good pass catching TE but he’s hardly a complete TE and he still isn’t impactful enough on a consistent basis. Is he really any better than Knox? He is used differently, he’s basically a big WR. He can’t hold a candle to old A** Kelce and for the record, I think Oliver could be a cut candidate this offseason, his contract is way too high. Don't want to call it ridiculous? OK, pessimistic to an unrealistic and wild degree. We're not "still waiting" for Groot. He's already playing at the level you expect from his draft level. The fact that he still keeps improving is good. Don't know why that's not clear. We're not waiting on him, except in the sense that we wait for an expect good play and improvement from every player. Groot is very good against the run; it's the pass rush that stops him from being excellent. They're all playing at solid levels for what we spent for them (with Elam being the exception, of course). None but Kincaid is exceeding his level. More of that would be nice to see. But it's still no reason to pretend they're underperforming, as. you are here. Kincaid is a lot better blocker than last year and far better than a "pretty good pass catching TE." That's honestly wacky. Thanks for letting us know you think Oliver would be a cut candidate. It really makes clear the level of your nuttiness. Extreme! There's plenty to be frustrated about with this team: penalties, injuries, the lack of defensive turnovers this year, the performance of the safeties, most particularly Rapp, though we see now that the knee may well have been a large part of that. Allen's play the last two games. Some issues on game-planning on offense the past two games. A lot. The stuff you're throwing a hissy fit about here isn't worth worrying about, particularly compared to areas of real concern. Edited 3 hours ago by Thurman#1 2 1 Quote

I don't fault Pegula. I am not sure Beane is complacent. He may just not be the highly competent wizard some fans expect him to be. Truth be told, given the state off the team, it is highly plausible Beane's decision making is being driven by the impact on 2026 and beyond, and not 2025. Also, we have a history of not really using the players we acquire in mid-season. Beane probably has little control over that, so his thinking could be "why trade for B. Thomas to sit on the bench". starrymessenger Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Something else to at least bear in mind when considering BTJ is that in 2024 he was basically force fed targets because he was really all they had. He was their featured receiver. Now they have more talent at the position and they have therefore asked him to do more, to develop and diversify his routes like a true #1. He has so far failed to do that. Could it be that if he is not featured quite the way he would like he loses interest? Remember Diggs? BTJ has all the ability in the world. He has proven that he can run great routes. He has great footwork at the line and can easily beat press man coverage. Steve Smith says he has more natural ability than Malik Nabers if you can believe that. The difference according to Smith is that Nabers is a dog and BTJ is not. He may wind up a bit more of a role player and high end #2. Quote

MarlinTheMagician Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Gabe is a Bill through and through - regardless of whether you want him on the field. You can bet he is giving them the straight dope on BTJ and how much of this year is due to Jags dysfunction. Hell, the Jags paid Gabe $13 million, you know they are stupid. Quote
Allen2Moulds Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I think the majority of us felt it was a lot more likely that KC was the best case scenario, and not this week. Given the slow prognosis, and missed training camp. However, McDermott must really like what he saw this week in practice. Now let's go get Brian Thomas. Edited 1 hour ago by Allen2Moulds Quote

Rigotz Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Sorry if this has already been mentioned… I’m not reading 15 pages! Include Keon in the package. Young WR with raw skills from the same draft to appease ownership and fan base of the Jags and include a premium pick. That makes them feel like they’re getting a win. Quote

Keon Coleman would make them feel like they “are getting a win”? 😂😂 Quote
