On Allen's 4th down TD run against KC last year, he got punched in the head by a KC defender who was ostensibly trying to strip the ball. That should be a penalty. Same concept as trying to sack the QB but hitting him too long after he's released the pass. We'll see how accurately and effectively they enforce these new rule changes. They haven't exactly gotten the hip drop tackle right. But yes the NFL trend continues toward less violence, physicality and eventually flag football. Quote

It says the memo was focused on making sure the players are punching the ball and not the ballcarrier... You are making something out of nothing here. I think the problem when Josh runs is someone punching his balls, not the ball Quote

The NFL doesn't want to appeal to its base. It wants to continuously tap a new market. It has for some time with urban and hip hop. Alienating the middle America base of classic rock, country, and modern rock even (garage, punk, hardcore, alternative). Instead they go with wannabe thugs, polarizing figures, and before that boring safe folks. The issues began with nipplegate when you were probably 10 or less. Justin misogynistic Timberlake and Janet set up a desperate move for attention by stripping her top off on national TV which embarrassed the league. The NFL went safe for a while but in fitting with their wife beating allowance followed: The fossil of Shakira and Jennifer lopez was the start...then to a guy who sings all of his songs about cocaine and getting high, a bunch of wannabe hoodrats who promote violence, drugs, and womanizing... Rihanna who is a puppet and talentless but not relevant to this other than she is a roc nation artist...to Diddys buddy usher and his whole drugs/violence theme...to wannabe bad boy midget Kendrick Lamar... This year to a guy who is openly critical to the audience he is performing to that sings music 80% of the audience won't know the meaning to all to generate revenue in new bases for the league... Yeah, the NFL halftime show is not legitimate and an advertisement for the downfall of the league. Maybe it's just me but I can't get behind some 60 yr old who talks about being a pimp and glamoring violence in la gang life or a cheesy dude who sings 1 song about Drake and pretends he is anything hard or tough. The rap game is full of snitches and protected divas from Eminem to anything in Atlanta. I'd rather not be inundated with hoodrats preach to me about how hard their life is when they make millions I just want to watch football. I'm so out of touch that none of this means anything to me. It's been a long time since I've even watched the halftime show, although I do have to say that one of the most exciting superbowl moments ever (including the actual football) was wondering if Prince would be electrocuted playing his electric guitar in the middle of a tropical storm. I think we should go back to football's roots, and have The Ohio State University Marching Band do the halftime show. And I didn't even go to OSU! 1 Quote

While I don't enjoy most of the halftime artists, I also mostly don't care. As an older guy, what I want is for the NFL to bring Jimi back from the dead or convince Zeppelin to get the band back together. And as a guy who's lost interest in popular music, I'd rather listen to Tibetan chants, Japanese shakuhachi, Hindu kirtan, or Robert Johnson than the acts the NFL engages. Since what I want isn't commercial or realistic, I just skip the halftime show and use that time to do old man things like visiting the bathroom. I'm fine with Bad Bunny because I'll be sitting on my throne reading a book when he performs. 1 Quote
