Josh Allen Played Most Undisciplined Game in Three years Against Falcons-- Jim Kubiak BN

Kubiak is always a big Josh supporter, but the gist of the story is he sucked Monday night.  Poor reads, poor execution and hero ball plagued him all night.  He did not see open receivers, and refused to take what the defense was giving.  He made poor throws and made poor decisions in taking off and running rather than pass to open guys.

It happens.  Josh is too good not to rebound, but this team has a very tough time when he is subpar.  In the second quarter, he only got 60% in the do Your Job QB rating system, the only time in years he got a failing grade.

Story is behind BN paywall.

Here come the lynch mob for Jim.
Apparently you can support Josh til the end of days but are unable to critique him by some people when he’s actually had a bad game.

Not a lot was good, if any, against the Falcons but we did in fact lose a game because of Josh; not Josh alone but he played a significant part.

Reading between the lines of the postgame pressers, the prevailing theory inside OBD seems to be that Josh got rattled by the Falcons' stunts and pressures at the beginning of the game and it affected him throughout.  McD on Tuesday basically said "that's exactly what we try to do to the other teams' QBs - throw them off early and then it affects them the whole game."  I.e., that Allen lost confidence in his line and his ability to understand the pressure concepts moreso than in his WRs.  Not saying this is true or false just that it seems to be the narrative that's being put out there.

The problem is that's 2 weeks in a row he's played the same. Is he losing interest/ fire? Is he tired of not being supported properly by the front office? All of this stuff could be grating on him. I'd be tired of the front office's bullshyt too.

If the lack of ball movement was because of Josh that's a really good thing because he's always been great at self correcting.  I suspect it's not that simple though with the o-line allowing uncharacteristic pressures and WR's not getting open at the rate you hope they would.

Josh's games vs the Pats and Falcons were not the same at all .

Poor pass-blocking, receivers who can't get open, and a coaching staff that abandons the running game when it's working is a bad combo for a QB.

beg to differ. I was at the pats game and he forced throws missed open receivers all night. Granted he played better against the Pats. But i saw some very uncharacteristic stuff from 17 these last 2 games. The picks were his fault but the rest of the offense as a whole didn't help him much. Kincaid had a great game against the pats but as a whole the offense is sputtering. In my humble opinion Josh seems off .

Agree.  But he had options with the pressures and did not see/take them.  He had a shi**y game.  It happens to all athletes.  He will rebound.  As will the team I suspect.

I get what you're trying to say. And I am hardly the most eloquent person. My manner of speaking and being eloquent is akin to a rhinoceros doing ballet.... On meth.

I think part of what you're saying can be wrapped up a little bit by saying Josh was affected by the Patriots game and as a result had the Falcons game.

Josh was frustrated with the lack of separation by the wide receivers in the patriots, having to make gutsy throws and poor decisions to try to force something. I think because of this he went in with the mindset of less optimism confidence and to the layman look like he gave up. I think he was just lost and if anyone on this team can fix it he's on the top five of that list.

it's not all on Josh. This all happened too. He has some blame though and I know the unrealistic Josh is Jesus crowd will flame away but I know what I saw.

Agree.  But long term I think Josh having a bad game is preferable to many of the takes that the whole team is a dumpster fire and Josh is fed up.  Josh will be OK.

show the plays lol

for example this is second quarter...first down completion to palmer that he gets injured on. like this is what we are asking on offense rn, to fit a ball into this window

i guess he's supposed to take the checkdown to cook? then compare that w what penix and the falcons were seeing...

Josh Is too good of a player not to rebound. But will the offense? If he sticks with the elite part of our offense ( running the ball with cook. getting the ball down the seam to Kincaid and getting slants to Shakir, we should be just fine

I still think that the year where they ran out of gas sticks in the players minds who were here. Josh, Dawkins, coaching staff, etc. And in the years following, they go through these valleys of poor play for two or three games.

But its hard to tell when you're in the midst of one of the valleys exactly what is going on. Nobody is going to come out and say that they are holding back for playoffs.

I think in some respects it could be all of the distractions that have came to be in his life that last year . I'm not trying to be a Debby downer but if you look at the similarities between him & Bass after they got married there could be something to it being in their first year of holy matrimony .

Then if you add to it all of the commercials that Josh has been asked to be in because of his celebrity status not only because of his playing career but being married to a A list actress it could be part of the problem .

Prior to this season for the most part alls Josh has to worry about was Football as number 1, going home after football and feeding the dog, then football, and date night with his now wife, but this season his attention is split in many different directions and his biggest focus one would think would be on being married .

Bass has went through the same thing after his marriage his production went down last year and now he's pulling groin muscles so what does that say in and of itself 🤔 🤣 Just kidding of course but something has changed and neither seem to be as focused on the task at hand !

Matter of fact there has been times when Josh has been sitting on the sideline he just has this blank stare and there is no veteran leadership from him going up and down the side line pumping up his other team mates telling them they can get this done it's like his emotion is all but gone at times & in those times when the team is down is when those guys need to be pumping others up .

I will say that Diggs was one to do that and we even saw it in the Pats game and I have yet to see anyone on the Bills side line taking up that roll or that type of leadership which is something that is needed and missed on this team ...

The biggest sack of the game, he just didn't see coming i guess because the hot receiver is WIDE OPEN in shakir.  He threw shakir out of bounds on a 3rd down earlier in the game.  There was another similar to that where he threw it out of bounds.  Missed the throw to a wide open TJ on 4th down.

For me, both games the problems started with the running game. In the Pats game, Cook didn't get going. We stopped taking the short pass. We never got back to trying Cook in the 2nd half. For the Falcons, Cook was stuffed in the first half. 3rd Q he played well had momentum and tough runs. 4th Q he wasn't on the field much. Made things harder than they had to be. Allen made bad decisions both games. Things got tight and sloppy. The Bills O needs to be loose to be efficient. The D im praying figures something out.
