Yeah that is frustrating but calls from off-screen officials happen all the time on primetime games. If Detroit is going to call that play they need to know the procedural rules and follow them accordingly. That mistake plus ASB's drop might be too much to recover from. You can't make two 4th down mistakes against KC and win.

Also, the St. Brown drop was huge. DET han an opportunity to lead by 2 scores. Now KC can go up by 2 scores, if they cash in on the double dip.

This is precisely why they need to make it an unsportsmanlike penalty to ask for a flag. Even if the official was going to call it, it now looks like Kelce asked for and got it. Perception is realty and the optics are not good. Make it a 15 yard penalty and watch how quickly the players learn to stop requesting flags.

Those little tugs and hand fighting happen basically every route. How they decide when to call it, who knows? It's like offensive holding on a lineman. They pick and choose when to call it based on vibes or something, I'm not sure. Hutchinson has been held this whole game, it hasn't been called once.
