The matchup isn't that bad imo.

Perhaps I should have better qualified the worry I have as I’m not concerned about our offense; it’s the matchups we have on defense vs their offense.

McDermy and posse watched some film. Not sure if it was on the Falcons. Maybe Gone With the Wind (based in Atlanta for you young kids out there). So we don't prepare for "the Falcons". We go with our generic game plan (aka The Process). Falcons get over 150 rushing. McDermy and Babbi-***** are shocked. Will need to watch more film over the bye week. Maybe sit a few players for the next game for some odd reason. 4 and 2 and behind the Patriots. Hate to say it but this team has shown nothing in the way of improvement. Teams are not scared of the generic game plan. Good game for Atlanta to improve on some stats. 

 

Oh, and Beane looks to see if there are any ex-Bills players not on any teams to add to the practice squad. All is good.

And, Atlanta gets to gameplan vs our Defense. I mean, cmon... Our D is closing in on league worst.

Agreed. Some years there's a clear cut best team in the league. Some years it's about which team is peaking at the right time.

The Falcons look tougher than I would have thought at the start of the season.

 

Had we pulled out a close one over the Pats, I could see where this one might have been our 1st loss, being another night game on the road.  I think losing a game like we just lost makes that much less likely (though not out of the realm).

 

A good measure of a true contender is their ability to respond after a tough loss - showing resiliency.  I have a lot of faith that we right the ship on Monday.

Atlanta's Dline could trouble Bills Oline. Hope they come prepared and Allen will have to stay in the pocket a little longer for plays to develop.

I'm not worried about our D line.  I think this really demonstrates how poor our secondary is.  I don't think the plan was for Tre to man the position.  But injuries to Hairston and now Strong have hamstrung the Bills.  I'd like to see them work Hancock into the secondary.  It functions as a unit...only as strong as its weakest link.  Right now, the weak links are Tre and Rapp.  If they can eliminate one of those, that would certainly help.

Only one QB had a big passing day against us. The problem is that one of them did it in the last game, so it feels like everyone has been carving us up.

I think a lot of it is scheme. The secondary still isn’t getting beat deep very often cause they’re still playing soft coverage as if our pass rush is still not good, allowing a ton of short easy completions. Now that the pass rush is much better they should be playing more aggressive coverage because the DL is heating up QBs and forcing them to get the ball out quicker. Our coverage and pass rush are just not complimentary at all.

On Joe Marino podcast today the secondary play was discussed in depth. Conclusion: Tre White is doing about what he's capable of and it's not good enough. Cole Bishop is doing about what we could hope for at this point. And, Benford, Rapp and Taron have performed well below what was expected. Combined with a decent pass rush=abysmal performance by secondary. We've  avoided the big play because and we play extra deep due to fear.
