The holds the Bills OL are getting are beyond ridiculous. Hands in tight, D flopping. I thought the holds in the first half forced the Bills into so many long down and distances it changed the game entirely. Meanwhile zero on the Pats inexperienced OL many of which we could see were worse. Much like the turnovers had to come back to the middle, hopefully this to will happen. The pan shot to Bob Kraft in OP and not Pegula was puzzling at best. Certainly aligned with the calls being one sided.

Having said all that, the Bills didn’t play well. Josh missed a wide open Samuel with a great opportunity to go ahead and kill the clock.

Can’t blame the refs when you turn it over 3 times. This is pretty damning though, and it’s not just Hochuli. Bills have been called for the most holds in the NFL and are tied for the fewest holds against their opponents. 13 to 1.

Where are the Chiefs?

is this legit or clickbait?

There are 7 teams missing, only 25 are shown on that graph.

A new academic study analyzing over 13,000 defensive penalties from 2015 to 2023 reveals a notable pattern: during the postseason, referees call penalties that benefit the Mahomes-era Kansas City Chiefs at rates dramatically higher than both the regular season and other NFL dynasties. The shift coincides almost perfectly with the team’s emergence as the league’s biggest ratings draw during a period when the NFL desperately needed one.

I’m hoping that the nfl gives us those calls this year.  I absolutely believe the league massages certain teams and players, and I think that our new stadium and the need to sell PSLs will be a big financial incentive for the league to make the Bills win their first Super Bowl this year

Chiefs might be buried under the 49ers logo? The graph has a few spots where 2 teams have the same number of holds for and against where they overlapped team logos. I scrolled through all the Bills games play-by-play and can confirm we have 13 offensive holding penalties called on us to only 1 by our opponents. I'm willing to bet the rest of the graph is legit.

FWIW 'offensive holding' includes punt/kick returns. We have 4 'offensive holds' committed by our ST, the other 9 were committed by the actual offense.

The 1 opponent 'offensive holding' call we've had in our favor was a kickoff in the Saints game.

The Patriots were called for an offensive hold, but Bills also had a penalty on the same play that offset it. Offsetting or declined penalties aren't counted for stats like this.

Maybe we should bring Kyle Williams back as a consult to teach our D-Line how to throw their head back and arms up in order to actually draw a flag on the opposing O-Line.

I wonder what this looks like for past seasons of the Bills.

Some of it is probably a function of Allen rolling out of the pocket. In my opinion, refs are way more likely to call holding when that happens but I have no data to back it up.

Not getting any calls is nuts though. I remember at least three times in the Pats game alone that looked like an obvious hold go uncalled (but Hochuli is a biased jerk against the Bills).

I watched three games Sunday and all three were flag fests, and all three games the Officials were dreadful. So it wasn't so much a Bills issue, though the other two games at least seemed to be equally bad for both teams. The NFL Officiating has been bad for years and seems to get worse every year.

Look at this  Granderson roughing the passer penalty in the Giants /Saints game just to prove my point.

In a league so closely associated with gambling, they need to do better on the officiating end than they are.

That’s how you set a baby down on a play mat.

I've said this for a while now, the best thing Pegula can do for this team is get on the Competition Committee and buddy up to Roger and the head of referees dude.  Take them all to nice dinners and offer to hold committee meetings on your yacht in the Mediterranean.  Its been obvious for decades that the Bills get zero breaks from the refs, especially when playing certain teams such as the Patriots.

Or he could just give everyone on the committee a suitcase full of cash. Then go spend time on his yacht with people he actually likes hanging out with.
