I think we have to consider trading for someone now. Losing Hairston so early on - who knows how far behind he really is - and now Strong who looked like he could've been CB2 full time if needed...Ingram and Lewis are better nickle/dime guys.

His play doesn’t warrant any thing close to pro bowl consideration . That’s exactly my point. As the 54th overall pick in his draft class the hope was that he’d be more of a force on the edge - a defender that opposing offenses would need to account for.  But he’s not that guy.  He’s serviceable. Adequate. Not a liability. Makes some plays. Hooray!

Again, that's a problem with your expectations. We've gotten 6 years of solid production, where we can expect 6 sacks a year out of a late 2nd round EDGE. I think that's a pretty solid return. If you wanted 10+ sacks a year, most of the time you have to target those guys in the top 15 picks. 5 DEs were taken ahead of him in the 2020 draft, and he's outperformed 4 of them.

I hope this is why he hasn't been starting over white. Because he's been far better when he has been out there. Hopefully he gets healthy asap because tre white is cooked.

I repeat, tre white is cooked.

He runs like he's wearing high heels 👠

Once you notice it, you can't unsee it.

Yeah, the plan was always for him to be at most a bridge to Hairston - if not a backup to Hairston straight out of Camp.

The injury to Hairston forced us to rely on him, which is *nowhere* you want to be. They'd have been playing more of Dorian Strong tonight with how poorly White was playing. But now we don't even have him either.

That's the toughest part about this. White is toast. But our only other options right now are to play Ja'Marcus Ingram or Dane Jackson. Which probably wouldn't be much worse, but wouldn't be any better either.

Tonight was exactly why I was saying the idea from another poster that we IR'ed him to make room for players coming and that it was "nothing to see" was ridiculous. We really could have used him tonight and I can't believe they'd purposely put us in a situation where we would have no choice but to stick with White.

Ingram showed up in the games he was asked to suit up last season (except in the Playoff game)

Agree easily on Ciarlo, and Ingram, Franklin is a bit tougher due to his ST contribution. I think Codington may go first before Franklin.  Or if you're going to keep Codington for his return role, then do you need Samuel and could you trade him?

So after last nights game, I'd move Milano to IR for one spot and not sure they'll do it, but cut White.  That's 2 spots.

I think Tre was brought back kind of like Hyde was to be more of a depth/mentor to the rookies but because of the injuries he has had to be put into the starting line up .

I hope this is only the 4 week IR and he can come back to shore up the secondary if Max and Strong were playing to gather in the back I think it would be much better than those there now !!

If so, I wonder if the Ravens would trade Awuzie. Shouldn’t cost more than a late rounder if indeed you feel a trade is needed.

The Ravens aren't trading anybody. The worst-case scenario for them is a late-season run to try to make the playoffs, just like Cincinnati did last year.

That’s fair and you are probably right, I wouldn’t dismiss it entirely. Firmly believe they would entertain trading either Alexander once Humphrey comes back from injury. Awuzie would be the preferred but unlikely choice of the two.

Both are on one year deals and if their season truly is in the pan by the end of week 9, 2-7 record, why not?

For the record, and I’m in the minority here, I’m not jumping at any trades. The only one I would advocate is a top end WR which probably isnt happening due to salary issues.

I think Strong/Hairston can pick the coverage up once they’re back.

I think they could still win their division.  The Bengals and Browns are cooked.   The Steelers arent good enough to waltz to the title.  It could be close at the end of the season.

I 100% agree, although the Bengals offense got rolling at the end of their loss to the Lions and that gives me pause. If Browning could stop turning the ball over, they might be able to get to Burrow's return still in the division race. It's funny how much better we all are at rationally assessing every other team's potential outcomes and how we're willing to allow injuries to be an explanation for losses. We could all use a bit more of that when talking about the Bills.

If only Taron Johnson could play outside CB it would solve a lot of issues, I’d rather play 3 LB anyway because the nickel certainly doesn’t seem to stop the run and doesn’t seem to have done so for years now

it's a bit crazy to me that this never happens (not just us, very few nickel backs move outside).  like, if he could be an ok outside corner, his back up would be better at his slot position than tre has been at outside corner.

also, as you mention, presuming dorian or milano come back, we can go 3 lb's too, so we'd limit the exposure to the back up 3rd cb.
