Shaw66 Posted Tuesday at 06:58 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:58 PM Sometime about 18 months ago, someone here started a thread called something like "Tell Us Your Favorite Bills Memory." I saw the title and immediately thought, "I have a lot of favorite memories. I'm not going to pick one." I moved on. Within a couple of hours, I had decided to write a book about being a Bills fan. And now I've done it. My memoir, FAN - Stories of Buffalo and the Bills, has been published and is now available on Amazon in paperback and on Kindle. In FAN, I've written about my life growing up in Amherst in the '50s, about my earliest memories of being a Browns fan, and about how I became a Bills fan when Mr. Wilson decided to invest in the AFL and in Buffalo. The book includes chapters about games I've attended, including the 1964 AFL championship game and Wide Right, my experiences as a season ticket holder, and plenty of other stories. If you're interested and want to see some of what I've written, I've posted the Preface to FAN on my blog, www.Hartfordtodayandtomorrow.com and also on the Amazon page. GO BILLS! 11 18 1 Quote

Thanks for making me feel so much younger today. You did make me think about my grandfather who owned a dry cleaning plant across from the Rock Pile in the 1940's and my first games during OJ's first pro season. chris heff Posted Tuesday at 11:59 PM Posted Tuesday at 11:59 PM If we were to ever meet, I’m sure I’d buy a beer or two, since that isn’t likely I bought your book. I’m sure what you’ve written is what we would talk about. Looking forward to reading it. 1 Quote

Sojourner Posted Wednesday at 12:30 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:30 AM Congratulations Mark! Is the Buffalo you’re standing next to on the cover the paperweight for the book?! Quote
Ray Stonada Posted Wednesday at 12:33 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:33 AM Congrats on writing a book! Verlyn Klinkenborg came to speak at my high school in 1991 and I remember being struck with the way he puts words together… I grew up in the 1980s and he helped me understand what Buffalo had been. These things, the feeling in the air, are what books can give us. It’s great you have added to the shelf of books about Buffalo and about our insane relationship with a certain pro football team 1 Quote

SoCal Deek Posted Wednesday at 12:53 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:53 AM Hey Shaw…congrats on the book! I’m curious if you have the big red hard cover book that covered the first 35 years (I think) of Bills history? It included a statistical game by game summary of every game in Bills history up to that time. Your story reminded me that for Christmas one year I gave my dad that book, and inside it, I pinned personal notes and stories/memories of each of the important games we attended together since I was a little kid. My Dad is now 92 and having suffered a significant stroke this year is unfortunately a mental shell of the man he once was. But….he still has that big red book of memories on the shelf in his room. Go Bills! 1 Quote

Go Bills! What a cool story. What a great thing to do for a Bills fan. I don't have a big red book. The details of games and seasons get away from me. But I have plenty of memories. 1 Quote
