IMO, it’s more because Walker is a rookie and the Bills philosophy has been to always rotate their d-linemen.

 

He’s a rookie and he came into the season with a back injury which at his size could be aggravated with too much of a workload too quickly.

As much as Leslie Frazier was blasted for being "vanilla" and refusing to adjust in big games to change things up, he was exceptional game to game and keeping a high level of consistently good defensive play.

 

We tend to forget that.

Will be interesting to see the impact Hoecht and Ogunjobi can make after the bye...two big pieces on D that should provide significant help.

 

Both should be ready to roll after the bye and have an extra week of practice to get reacclimated.

I believe on several consecutive first and second downs Walker lived in the backfield and made all the plays to get them to third down.  As the original poster noted only to be take back on third.  When they converted he was back in on first down.  This is not consistent with what we are saying as why. They must not view him as a pass rusher, Given his penetration on all these preceding plays, one would say, "the coach's are blind to the flow of the game" and situational substitute because of their preconceived Bias.

 

Its time to open you eyes and coach by what you see, not by all you preplanning.

 

As a side note, for once I would like us to be aggressive on first drive defense and not just feel the other team out.  If you are the experts based on tendencies and this is how we operate, do it on the first series as well.  Approach is way to passive to start the games. We got better in the second half in tighter man coverage with zones disguised as man.  Why soft shell to start every game.

This is always so interesting cuz people are like ‘they’re just depth pieces who cares’ but beane seems to miss on all his big signings/early draft picks and his depth signings/late picks go on to be impact players haha 

 

If we truly think Hoecht is a depth piece he’ll probably be an all pro 😂

McD is the problem.  His Defense and philosophy suck and I'm done with him, I dont believe the Bills will ever even make it to the SB let alone win one with Him as the coach.....

They kept taking him out on 3rd down and Atlanta would then convert, then he comes back in on 1st down.

Walker played over 80% of snaps. You can't expect him to play more then that. 

 

But he needs to be the starter going forward. 

 

The good news is it looks like we found our 1T of the future (even if it's not his natural spot).

Second TD of the game. 3rd and goal. Im pretty sure Epenesa, Solomon, Oliver, and Bosa was the DL. Absolute joke. Two guys that are barely above practice squad level when we are paying millions to Rousseau and Walker is the best interior pass rusher on the team.

no, but the last 2 falcons series I was only watching Him, because he was really the only one doing anything, and they took him out on every 3rd down.

Frazier had some major flaws at the worst times, but he was head and shoulders above Babich. At least our defenses were ranked statistically in the top 5-10 for a few years.

Absolutely true. It’s also true that Walker received those snaps because Jones went down. Up until yesterday Walker was getting about a third of plays from what I have read. That number needs to be higher. If he can play 80% out of absolute necessity he should be able to play 60% in normal circumstances. Getting this kid more time is only going to make him better come January.

Hoecht is a beast and is like a chess piece that is an athletic freak that can be moved all over the D, and even play some LB.

Walker played 60% of the snaps against the Pats last week.

 

His snap percentages have increased each game as he has gotten better.

 

This is one of the few players they are developing correctly.

The bottom line with Babich is that as bad as the injuries, tackling and missed opportunities have been (on the players), the scheme and inept coaching have made the defense WORSE. Continuing to play zone with the current dbs we have is stupid. Continuing to rush the way we do without getting home and the QBs having 5 seconds to throw is stupid! Continuing to provide a complete simple look on defense that a young QB can easily read with ease is insane. Something has to be done. I think anybody else could get more out of this defense right now.
