His first start comes against the Chargers. They should have started Winston or stuck with Russ for one more week to let the kid get his feet wet on the road in New Orleans.

Jake Browning has thrown 5 picks in 6 quarters this season.

Wilson is toast.

He's not saving the Bengals season. They are all in on Browning.

The Giants threw money away signing Wilson in the first place. They already had signed Jameis Winston, who while not great himself is at least a guy that will keep it interesting for a few weeks before turning it over to Dart.

Why are they even paying Jameis?  Their moves at the QB position have been baffling.

Because he's next season's backup.  He's on a 2 year contract. Russ is on a 1 year contract.  Russ was the designated bridge when he signed.

Locking up a QB to be a backup in 2 years is asinine.  You really think you won't be able to sign a Jameis level QB in 2 years?

Management, who are hoping to save their jobs, want a backup who knows the system.  If they all get fired, Winston might go with them.

Personally, I'd cut Wilson as I don't think he's the type to help develop Dart.  From what I could tell, Winston and Dart have a pretty good relationship.

As for the "Trade him to the Bengals" idea, if I'm Cincy, I'd rather have Winston.  Imagine Winston throwing to Higgins and Chase.  He'd put up crazy numbers.

Winston might be the only QB who turns the ball over more than Browning does. His fantasy numbers would be off the chart, but I don't think he helps them win more.

Can’t blame Daboll for this move.  Over the last two weeks Wilson has made throws a high school QB would know not to make, let alone a guy with years in the league.  Wilson has been absolutely awful.

That will work for two games before the DCs catch up, flood the short area of the field and it's back to square one. I don't think even the Bengals are stupid enough to think this plan could work.

Wilson's time in the NFL is coming to an end.

Yeah, it's probably time to hang it up.

The Giants going to Wilson as a bridge was really a stupid idea. I mean, I could see Zach Wilson or someone you think may still be a late bloomer/have some upside. The kind of offense the Giants will want to install with Dart isn't the kind of offense Russell Wilson can run. Just look at the disconnect with Sean Payton in Denver.

Russell is kind of a borderline HOFer. He really was that good in Seattle, and even his last gasp half a season in Pittsburgh last year was fun while it lasted. There isn't much use for his skill set in today's NFL offenses, particularly when that skill set is in decline.

Wilson is now the ultimate purgatory QB, the type that kept us in a playoff drought for almost two decades.

Can win just enough games to keep you from getting a top pick but never enough to get you to the tournament.

I agree - the Ginats have been in the games for the most part until Wilson trots onto the field with his eyes closed and throws pick after pick. The dude is brutal! Let's go Dart! I'm rooting for you.

Russell Wilson has probably started his last game.

And the record: 120-80-1

His top PFR comps are Cam Newton (wasn't expecting that!), Joe Montana, Ken Anderson, Stafford, Steve Young.

I do think he is a HOFer just because he (and his team) was really that dominant at his peak.

Man the cowboys defense must be absolutely atrocious to let Wilson throw 450 yards. I think this is the right move for the giants, but not sure it'll save their season. Maybe just give them hope

I see this as the Sean Payton move. Goodbye Russell Wilson old model, hello Bo Nix/Jaxson Dart model.

Their plan was to start Dart at some point this season. There is no going back to Wilson (unless Dart gets injured) so they only had to wait until they were to a point where that made sense. 0-3 is about as early as they could’ve done it. The locker room must know that Wilson is cooked.

How long did we wait in Allens rookie year like 4 or 5 games?

Tom Brady's career ruined the paradigm for what we thought a Qb's career should be. Before Brady a Qb was often completely done by their mid 30s, but then came Brady and also Drew Brees pushing 40 and beyond. You could even add Rodgers (although fading fast) to that list. Wilson was done when he first got to Denver. Now 36 , he looks just like those great QBs of the 70s and 80s by this stage. Jim Kelly was a shadow of his greatness when he called it quits at 36. I don't what the Giants thought they were getting making Wilson the starter. Did they not watch any film from the last 2 years?

They were thinking like the Bills did with Allen that he wasn't NFL ready, true Josh started after Peterman sucked it up but honestly Josh only got better IMO after suffering the injury and had to learn behind Derek Anderson for a few weeks.

agreed, the only place I see Wilson going is to theoritically improve a team that wants some depth at QB I think that really any team that trades for him currently with the thought of starting him has to have a QB worse than him with Zero up side... they should probably just save the pick and the pick positions cause they are not going anywhere... I hear the Cinci argument but I dont see him as an improvement out of the gate over a guy that knows the system...  Now... the Bills, Eagles, Ravens, Chiefs, Rams... whoever in contention wanna take a shot and PS him or make him a 2 just incase... I think that makes more sense at this point...  (no I am not saying the Biils should sign RW, no Git er done Beane coming from me lol...

Damn that was quick... I am trying to put the sequence together... did Peterman get hurt or just suck that bad...
