A lose-lose proposition, at least so far. The only redeeming quality I can see is that they play with heart and get turnovers, as in the Ravens game. Otherwise, the best they can do is serve as a speed bump so Allen has at least a fighting chance of scoring more points than they give up, again as in the Ravens game. If I'm the Jets, I play classic ball control. Short throws, 3.5 yards per carry, milk the clock, 43-minute TOP. Keep Allen on the bench and exhaust the small, overmatched defense. If you're facing arguably the worst defense and best offense in the league, which do you keep on the field and which do you keep on the sidelines? A lose-lose proposition….except they keep beating Baltimore. 1 3 2 Quote

Goin Breakdown Posted September 13 Posted September 13 My thought are this The jets have been liking the smell of their own crap this week. Yes they lost but they played good and the media is talking them up. The Bills on the other hand Won, but looked pretty bad on the defensive side of the ball. They want to prove they are not what they looked like. missing Oliver hurts. Johnson may be out but is listed questionable. Typically that means he's playing. I think Bills win pretty big in this one even though Bills jets games tend to be close. 1 2 Quote
Rockinon Posted September 13 Posted September 13 https://www.buffalorumblings.com/buffalo-bills-injuries/115714/buffalo-bills-list-5-players-with-week-2-injury-designations Pretty good summary on the injury front. If we can get a couple of these guys back, losing Ed won't be so bad. The defense doesn't really need his game wrecker abilities. Just a better showing when it comes to gap integrity and stopping the run. The team practiced in pads on Wednesday to fix these issues and that's a team effort. The defense's issues against the Ravens had a lot to do with team concepts like maintaining gap integrity. Henry was only partly successful because of his ability. The other side of that coin was the poor job the Dline did at meeting him at the point of attack. He was running through huge holes all game long until the 4th qtr. Although losing Ed in this one hurts, it's not the end of the world. Every member of this defense shared in last weeks performance. Now they just have to put it together for the next game up. I believe we actually see an improved performance by the defense as a whole, even without Ed. 1 1 Quote

In fantasy Justin Fields is projected to have a big game going against an absolutely putrid Bills defense that gave up 432 yards last week. Bills pull this one out but it will be a little too close for comfort for many Bills fans. Josh will have to pull a rabbit out of his hat again for this game. But if you want to make some money in fantasy, start Fields Quote
Utah John Posted September 13 Posted September 13 With the defense shredded by injuries and by big strong opponents, I am not confident at all about the next couple of games. The Jets offense looked really good against Pittsburgh, and their defense always seems to make Josh struggle. The Dolphins are a shell of what they've been so are an easy to overlook opponent with a lot of frustration against the Bills to motivate them. 1 1 Quote

We need a bigger sample size. Remember blowing out New England 31-0 in the opener ? We had the best offense AND defense going into week 2. How did that turn out ? 1 3 Quote

I believe we actually see an improved performance by the defense as a whole, even without Ed. We see this every year. The Bills defense has a rough game, the message board blows up, then they practice all week and come out playing better, more fundamental football. Wasn’t it just last season that we gave up 28 points to a pretty average Cardinals offense? Everyone panicked because we had to go on the road against Miami in Week 2—on short rest—without Duwane Smoot, Javon Solomon, and Taron Johnson. To make matters worse, Terrel Bernard went down after just a series or two, which meant we had to lean on Austin Johnson, Cam Lewis, Baylon Spector, and Ja’Marcus Ingram for significant snaps. And yet, we still walked away with a 31–10 win, capped off by an Ingram pick-six. "It's okay, we'll be fine... but have a little faith next time." 1 3 3 1 Quote

DaVinci Posted September 13 Posted September 13 On my way to NYC. Jets, hold the Sauce. Jets secondary is vanquished. Josh Allen = 400 yards easy Quote

Coach Tuesday Posted September 13 Posted September 13 This would be a great week for Bosa to step up, if he’s healthy and comfortable as it appears. Early season is when I expect him to shine. Quote

I would hope that all of the off season focus on upgrading the defense begins to payoff, especially the young additions. 1 1 2 Quote

Context is always important to recognize and one week is not enough information to determine who is and isn’t the best defense or offense in the NFL this season. Because of the lack of data, the best thing we can do is draw from how we have faired in the past, that offers more context then one game against a very good team. Think of the Saints after two weeks last year, one of the best offenses and that didn’t last. Going off the data without enough context is little better than a random guess. Historically, our defense is a really good regular season defense, but also struggles against these power running type of teams. However, Fields isn’t Lamar and I believe our defense comes out looking a lot better this week. 2 Quote
Rockinon Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Listening to T. Johnson interview, it sounds like he'll be ready to go Sunday. Encouraging. Tre White is staying mum about starting in his interview. Have no Idea if he's playing. Excited to see how TJ Sanders looks filling in for Ed. Quote
