BigAl2526 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago The KC/Chargers game thread stipulated no Bills conversation, soooo. . . Unlike Baltimore vs Bills, this was a divisional game for KC. That instantly means KC's bid to reclaim their division throne involves a steeper climb than the Bills would face if they lose to the Ravens. A Buffalo win would give Buffalo a huge boost in their quest for AFC dominance, but I understand that Buffalo's weakness at cornerback is at least partially temporary. I can see why Buffalo could lose the game yet not have their division title hopes be seriously affected. I trust that the Bills' are being honest regarding Tre White's groin issues - being treated as temporary. If he does miss the Baltimore game, (listed as doubtful) he should be back sooner rather than later. I also expect to see Hairston by the middle of October, and I think he will be positive addition in the second half of the season. CB may not be a strength for a while, but it's not going to be the glaring weakness it was in 2025 once we get a few games into the season, and it will continue to improve after that. I don't think Buffalo has any other team in their division who is a serious threat to win the division title from Buffalo. If the Chargers do knock off the Chiefs for the division title in the AFC West, it makes KC's path to the AFC championship and a playoff match versus Buffalo much more unlikely. The biggest obstacle for Buffalo in the playoffs might be somebody new: Baltimore, Cincinnati or LA Chargers are the best bets. Your thoughts? 3 2 Quote
90sBills Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Yeah no way KC can win on the road in the playoffs so they’re done after week 1 of the regular season. 1 2 1 3 1 2 Quote

Thrivefourfive Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The Chiefs win at home. The Chiefs win on the road. The Chiefs win IN Buffalo in January. This really means nothing. Neither does Sunday Night’s game. None of it matters until it’s big boy football come playoffs. We already expect to be there. We’re not building UP to anything like almost all other teams save a few. 1 2 3 Quote

ColoradoBills Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago The Chiefs lost to a division rival in the opening game of the season. It's not nothing. It will likely come into play later in the season with regards to the seeding in the AFC. Next week they play the Super Bowl winners they lost to last year. Game 3 is on the road against the Giants. Should be an easy win, but .............. Game 4 is against the Ravens at home. A Bills win tomorrow night would make that Ravens game BIG for both teams. Go Bills. 2 Quote
TheWei44 Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago It's just the first game and all, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where this loss won't matter down the road in some fashion re the playoffs. And it also suggests the possibility that there's a new sheriff in town in the AFC West. Time will tell but a promising start for anyone anti-Chiefs! 1 1 Quote

Division crown is much more difficult this year with SD and Denver greatly improved. They also won 9 games by one score last year. I don't see that happening again. Their defense isn't as good, Kelce is a year older and slower, down Rice for 6 weeks (and now add worthy for however long). They've now got Eagles, Giants, Ravens, Jags, and Lions next up. All except that Jags have very tough defenses. Could they possibly start this year 1-5 or 2-5? They'll probably end up with a wild card, but not making it is completely in the books. Ravens @2 face #7 and win Chargers at 3 face #6 Steelers/bengals and lose Bills host Steelers bengals Ravens host #5 Chiefs One example but it'd be hard to face the Chiefs in my expectations if we get #1 seed. If we get #2 I'd expect it. Ravens would be with us at the top. Chiefs would be #5 if they don't win division. Playing as #5 playing #4 which is likely someone like the AFC is great for #5. 1 Quote

People may call it an excuse but if the bills had the bye that year KC came to Buffalo in the playoffs they win that game fairly easily imo. Our linebacker room got absolutely ravaged by injuries in that wildcard round against pit and the chiefs took every advantage. The importance of the 1 seed/regular season results gets downplayed way too much because the chiefs were pretty healthy and snuck their way through a few banged up teams on the road path to the superbowl one time. That’s not a feat they would be pulling off consistently. Every other year they were either the 1 seed or the 2 seed with the 1 seed knocked out. Edited 4 hours ago by Generic_Bills_Fan 2 1 Quote
T.E. Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I don't know why you guys torture yourselves with this stuff. This team loses 1-2 games in stupid fashion every year that kills their chance at the 1 seed, and this year will be no different. 1 Quote
Buffalo Ballin Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Can we start this conversation after week 5, going into week 6? 1 Quote

I think what stood out to me in this one was it really wasn’t in stupid fashion…the chargers were just flat out better in pretty much every way. It wasn’t like unlucky turnovers or stupid mistakes, in fact I think the chiefs were pretty lucky just to be in that game. Chargers absolutely dominated and a couple blown coverages and a ridiculous fg resulting from a dumb clock management mistake made the final score closer than it actually looked Chiefs have only lost like two other turnover-free games in the entire mahomes era and the last time was vs the eventual afc champion bengals in 2021 who were significantly better than the 2025 chargers id never say they’re done by any means but I think the importance of that game is getting downplayed quite a bit just based on previous years results which doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The thread poster never said what you claim. All they said is that if the Chargers can somehow win that division, it will make a KC matchup vs Buffalo in the playoffs "less likely". Nothing about KC being done in week 1. It's posts like yours that make people not want to bring up an opinion or add an interesting thought to the board. Edited 3 hours ago by Einstein Quote
