Miyagi-Do Karate Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Sort of curious how the Bills run their tush push this year given how it petered out against KC, and also whether there might be some variations and trick plays from it. For example, not sure many people saw this, but New Mexico pulled off one of the best fake tush push plays I have seen on Saturday. 5 5 Quote
Brand J Posted September 1 Posted September 1 That was legitimately pretty. I think one thing Brady can take from the KC game is to have wrinkles out of the sneak, or other options he can turn to. He had all off season to agonize over it, so hopefully going forward if the opposing team stops it once or twice, he’ll have something else to pull from his bag of tricks instead of stubbornly calling the same play because it had worked throughout the season. 1 1 Quote
chris heff Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Putting the ball on the ground is dangerous, not sure that would work in the NFL, but there has to be a version of the fake that would work. 1 Quote
hondo in seattle Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Just having some variants/fakes of the tush push would maybe stop our opponents from committing all out to defending the tush push, thus making the tush push more successful. Though it's already highly successful. 3 Quote
K-9 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 There was no tush pushing happening on that play. It was a fake QB keeper. Nice play nonetheless. Quote
Bills!Win! Posted September 1 Posted September 1 All we had to do in the AFCG was go right on the sneak. We had been going left all year long: why not change it up to fake them out? 5 1 Quote
boater Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Josh always goes to the left on the tush push. Defenses prepare for it. The Bills went 0-4 for the tush push in the AFCCG. If he could occasionally go right this season, that would be of benefit. 1 Quote

The announcers suggested that was a bad snap. But I believe it was intentional otherwise it would have been an illegal snap (since the QB was under center). Quote

I don’t understand, is it illegal to snap the ball to a running back if the QB is under center? But if you squib it on the ground it’s okay? Quote

How about having a big offensive player behind him instead of a small receiver? Oh, and run the play to the right once instead of always to the left. 1 1 Quote

I saw that and my first thought was, WTH didn't Brady call something like this in the AFCCG when we were getting stuffed? 1 Quote
chris heff Posted September 1 Posted September 1 I’ve always wondered about a pitch to the RB. 1 Quote

I am no rules expert, But I am assuming if the ball hits the ground first, it’s treated more like a fumble/live ball rather than a snap. I would like to hear the experts explain it. 1 Quote

Mikie2times Posted September 1 Posted September 1 We ran this play when I was in high school and I caught about a 30 yard post off it. Really neat seeing it used outside of that situation. 3 hours ago, Brand J said: That was legitimately pretty. I have wanted to see the fake QB sneak swing pass, ala Willis McGahee. I think we have actually tried that. But when it works it's a house call. Also wouldn't mind seeing some jet sweep action out of that, I figure you would have to hand it off behind you, which makes it a little more dangerous. That said I don't think we need to complicate this. If we get signs that team is really penetrating on that play, let Josh have it out of the gun. Force them to respect the pass. He is so dangerous on short yardage out shotgun. It's how we beat KC in the regular season game at the end. 1 Quote

Well under the rules.. let's say a quarterback lines up under center With a tail back behind him in single back Everybody is set... Then they do an offensive shift.. and the quarterback goes to tailback and the tailback goes under center... Another pause to get set Tailback hikes the ball and does a sneak.. I don't think that would be illegal Quote
