Bills Officially done with Zach Davidson. Not really surprising mind you as he had a rough pre season

He was up and down in preseason. but, as a PS TE, I imagine they'd prioritize blocking, and Latu looked really good in that regard in the preseason games.

That’s a damn fine practice squad, if I do say so my damn self.

If you compare to rosters like 12-15 years ago most of these guys would have been starting caliber players for the Bills. The team's come a long way

It’s not far fetched to say that a number of those guys could be starting on other NFL rosters.

With respect, I think it is far fetched.  Because if another team agreed, they'd sign that guy to their 53 and let them compete for the starting job.

I just peeked around other teams practice squads to see if any of the bills cuts landed elsewhere - I don’t see any ex-bills anywhere yet which is pretty interesting.
I’d thought there would be some interest in some of the younger O-lineman (Gouraige, Mike Edwards, even Jacob Bayer) that the bills didn’t retain - but maybe this just shows how thin the margins are for these fringe players to hold onto their NFL dreams.

(I did notice the Jags put TE Quinton Morris on their practice squad. I thought he had a good chance to be TE2 with the Jags but obviously didn’t work out. Any injuries happen to the bills TE’s, I’d expect them to bring Q back).

I just think a lot of teams and players invested a lot of time in each other and players knows that teams playbook and vice versa so they don’t need to spend time teaching a new guy so they don’t miss a beat when their in game week.

Well look at that.

Jordan Poyer on the practice squad.

Almost like there was no reason to panic and sling mud for 15 pages.

Even after the certainty that he was headed for the practice squad there was still plenty of unhappiness about his return.

Strangely enough, this topic appears to be a Jordan-safe Zone.

It’s not surprising to me…unless he was a lights-out returner I always had difficulty envisioning his role on this team.  I guess he’s kinda fast, but what does he give the offense that is unique?

Yes Hamler doesn't give the Bills anything that Samuel and Moore doesn't already give them.

Agreed. In the majority of cases the talent is indistinguishable and teams feel more comfortable retaining players that are familiar known quantities and that have already been in the playbook.

I said could, not would, and I understand what you’re saying, but I do think several would have a decent shot at unseating starters in this league.

They dropped Keleki Latu (who made some nice plays blocking, and on ST) off the PS, I assume to make room Poyer. A bit surprising to me, as there are no TEs now on the PS. I suspect this PS is not altogether set...

It is though.   Practice squad guys are free agents. Any team can sign these guys to their roster and if they would start that would happen.

Where did you see this?

The list the Bills provided from the official site had both Poyer and Latu + so he definitely did not get cut for Poyer as they  had 16 guys and one was an IPP so they still had one slot if wanted.

I agree it is not fully set as the Bills use it to keep lots of guys engaged - so they will add and cut many times and there were rumors of 2 additional guys the Bills were trying to sign that have not been announced, but it had nothing to do with Poyer if it is true.  I just can’t find it.  Everything points to him being on the PS.

Ulofoshio got the boot pretty quick. Usually McBean gives their own draft picks a little more time. I think Wilkerson could produce in a pinch.

What a roller coaster for some of these guys - to be cut, then added to PS, then released from PS, then maybe return to PS or go to another team PS...

Not going to pretend that I know who Jalen Kimber is but I'm not surprised Hardy was on the bubble.

It's a pretty good PS for a team that's trying to win right now, but it's very thin on developmental DB talent for a team that's already thin at DB.

Well, as of this moment, Latu is not listed on the Bills official website as being on the PS, and he was the other day.

Glad they dropped Hardy.  He is small and slow.  Not an NFL prospect.  And didn't he go to Penn State?  Boo on that.

Overall a strong roster.  And a strong PS.  Can't wait for the season.
