I think it will be a very high scoring affair (like 34-30 type game). Both offenses are almost the exact same team from last season and shouldn’t have too much rust.

Ravens didn’t “lose because of the drop.” It would’ve tied it up. Buffalo still had a whole heap of time left to march down for the FG. And that is not out of the realm of possibility for MVP Josh Allen.

They did lose because of the drop, but making the catch wouldn’t have guaranteed a Ravens victory. I get that. However, the drop did guarantee a loss.

I feel very similar about that drop to how I feel about Bass' missed FG against the Chiefs in 2024.  Lining up for the FG, I was already very confident we were going to lose, because Mahomes had plenty of time to drive down for a FG.  I expected the Ravens to convert the 2-pointer, but also felt very confident that Allen would drive us down for a FG with the time remaining.

Sorry I just dont feel good about this game. The beat us in the regular season, nearly beat us in the post season and they are coming in pissed to make a statement.  Worst game on the schedule to start the season.  For those claiming "its just the first game" Thats fine until end of season when head to head tiebreakers determine the #1 overall seed.

I still don't get how for what seems like 3 years now our secondary keeps getting injuries, moreso than any other position it seems.

I agree - this is a BIG game. Determines, or can determine, the season we will have. You lose this game to our rival out of the gate and questions will be asked all season. We need this one...

Top to bottom they are a better built team. We have a slight edge at QB, but no where near the rest. We better pray  Beanes offseason DL moves pay off and McDermott has some new stuff up his sleeve.

My predictions for this game:

  1. Bet the over (51.5, last I looked)
  2. Keon Coleman explodes.
  3. The Bills' front seven are going to make Derrick Henry look old. Win or lose, one of the media talking points out of this game is going to be, "has Derrick Henry lost a step...?"
  4. Lamar Jackson throws for 280+ yards.
  5. Jackson is sacked twice-- Allen not at all.
  6. At least one Bills secondary player, who has been crapped on by this board, exceeds expectations, and has a very good game.
  7. For good, or ill, special teams is going to make a huge difference in this game.
  8. Throughout the telecast, the words, "Super Bowl," are going to be used waaaay too much.

Predictions:

- Collinsworth says "Patrick Mahomes" at least three times, despite the fact that he's not playing in the game.
- I am sick of Collinsworth by the third minute of the 1st quarter.

- Ravens are more "up" for the game than the Bills due to getting knocked out of the playoffs by them last year.

- Ravens win, NFL prognosticators overreact, declare Ravens Super Bowl favorites and ask "is the Bills' window closed?!"

- Bills proceed to finish the season 13-4 and claim the number one seed because week one barely means a thing.

On to Sunday night. GO BILLS!!!

Yes, Ravens are built tough and look very good on paper. I expect a tough battle. We "usually" keep Lamar contained... I'll give McD credit for that. But their D is stout. Our CB's are a question as well as safeties. We will see. I am nervous. If we lose, it's gonna be a crappy week in between the next game. Lot's of questions will be asked.

No disrespect - but who the heck said that the Ravens are more "up" for this game?? Makes no sense at all. It's not peewee football. (Not at you btw... just in general because I've heard this a lot the past few weeks).

Week one means a LOT this year. It's a head-to-head with our AFC rival. It means a LOT! The Bills know this and will be "up".

Gonna be a great game. GO BILLS!

And likewise, no disrespect to YOU, but...the smallest of motivation edges can mean the difference in a game between two high quality and evenly matched teams.

Of course the Bills will be "up" for the game. It's a home opener, it's against a great opponent, and they're a self-motivated bunch. But if you've listened to Ravens players talk -- starting with Lamar Jackson -- you know that this game is super personal for them and they're treating it as a Revenge Game.

Let's also not pretend like the Bills haven't come out a little flat in recent years' season openers. They lost to the Zach Wilson Jets, for goodness sake!

I expect the Bills to lose this game. It just feels like a loss to me. They have been too banged up in the preseason and have a lot of new parts on defense anyway that will take time to mesh. If we win it will be because Josh Allen wills us to victory and/or Lamar turns it over a couple of times like he tends to do against us.

This game is also concerning to me as it could be the defining factor in gaining home field advantage throughout the playoffs. I know, I know way to early to be thinking of the end of the season...it's never too early!  Then the next game is a division game on the road @ the NY Jets followed by the Dolphins at Buffalo. Could be a tough first three games considering how poorly that Buffalo secondary has looked in preseason.

Buffalo lost the opener to the NY Jets in 2023 and to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2021 and this loss was at home. Buffalo lost the home opener to the Ravens at Baltimore in 2018. Buffalo also lost an away game opener to the NY Jets in 1017.

Now, considering Josh hasn't played in any preseason games and could be rusty and have timing issues with his new receivers is another factor.

I'm hoping that the Bills come out and destroy those first three teams and go on a tear this season and win that home field while remaining injury free. It would be nice to finish a season that way. Home field and an AFC Championship game in Buffalo is my hopes for the 2025 season.

I don't even remember who, but someone on these boards told me that this is "arguably the most important game of the season." Also, how do you last three minutes with Collinsworth?

There is no motivation "edge". You could say the exact same thing last year in the playoff game: "Oh , the Bills beat us in the last playoff matchup"..  didn't seem to work now did it?!?

This is the NFL dude... they are both amped and ready 100% Sunday night.

That's like saying Josh has an extra edge because all the dweebs are saying we should have lost if not for the drop in the EZ. So, he wants to prove this year that he is better and that he is THE MVP for a reason and that his marriage doesn't affect his play and that our WR's are good enough despite what the dweebs say etc etc etc.

So, looks like we have the edge! There you go. GO BILLS!!

(sarcasm... I think).

Unless you need the tiebreaker in January
