Yeah, before the wife and I had our kids we used to hit up the stores for Pops. As it did with many things, COVID complicated the hobby. And then we had our buddies and obviously priorities change when that happens. It was fun while it lasted but sometimes I look at the stack of totes that are full up with Pops sitting in the basement and I'll be like, "what the heck am I gonna do with all these?" I've been able to sell off a bunch thru the world's largest yard sale at the fairgrounds. I used to sell on eBay quite a bit as well but the work involved to list/package/ship everything was heavily outweighing the profits, especially when it seems like there's a new fee added every other month or whatever. These days I still might get a couple as gifts from some folks but I haven't bought one myself in a couple years now. Quote

Yeah... those Pops are now as worthless as the state/city plates you see all around. For me it's vinyl and cd's to a lesser degree... and anything having to do with 60's/70's music. Quote

Funny story: That laundry chute you see in the third picture above: I quickly became tired of carrying clothes back up the stairs, so I built a reverse-sucking machine that allows us to not only drop the clothes down when when they're dirty, but also suck them back up to the 2nd story when they're clean. I made a video of this process if anyone wants to see it. Yes, please! Quote

Want nothing but them to have as much fun, success and joy as they can in life. after that? Budgeting and keeping track of the finances my wife chooses to spend. It’s honestly a full time job outside of running a business. That is beautiful, @Sojourner. Nothing is more important than your kids. As kids, we asked our dad why he didn’t go bowling with the guys from work. He said his kids were his hobby, and he spent time with us. He was a great Dad! Keep up the good work. I wish there were millions more fathers who felt that way. 1 1 Quote
boyst Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Maybe I should be more sincere and serious but that's boring Either way, I encourage anyone with an extra $1k, an hour a week, and intelligence to get bee. You'll be challenged and enjoy being a bee farmer. Also, look up oxalic acid pads to save money on getting a good bee suit. 1 Quote

Life’s hard enough as it is, nothing better being there to enjoy their journey into the man or woman they become and help it be as easy as possible when they get there. For the actual essence of hobbies, I’ll have time for that when they have things figured out. Secretly, I hope that never happens! Ha! Your father did it right, never get a second chance at turning back time to when they’re young! 1 Quote

Bills4everNY Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I watch lots of YouTube channels and random videos that come up. Pop Culture Crisis, Professor of Rock, Cult Cinema Classics, WardyNYMets, StockMoe, Film Threat are my daily visits. Skateboarding. I bought a California Free Former at Woolworth's when I was 8 years old. I still have it. It's still in good condition and I still ride it occasionally. I have 5 Pennyboards, which are perfect for me because I don't do any tricks. I just love to cruise and that's what they are made for. I cruise late at night around my neighborhood almost every night. The streets are smooth and well-lit. When I lived in NYCity, I would cruise in Central Park every chance I got. 1 Quote
